Divine Emperor Demon Emperor

Chapter 398: Chapter 398: Primordial Ocean Realm Level 7

The aura Mo Qingshui unleashed was terrifying. In just a few short moments, Lin Yun’s back was drenched in sweat. Facing her outburst, Lin Yun felt as if he were confronting a rampaging beast.

The suffocating pressure was unbearable. Had it been anyone else, they would have likely collapsed to the floor by now. Only Lin Yun, with the experience of two lifetimes and a resolute mind, managed to remain steadily seated in his chair.

The aura of a Celestial Spirit Realm expert was truly terrifying. After her outburst, it took Mo Qingshui nearly a minute before she slowly calmed down.

By this point, Lin Yun’s face had grown pale, and he was physically exhausted. But he had no choice. To resolve the matter, he had to force himself to endure.

”My apologies.” Having calmed down, Mo Qingshui looked at Lin Yun, knowing she had been impulsive. It was a rare thing for Mo Qingshui to apologize.

”It’s fine. I’m just delivering a message for my master,” Lin Yun replied.

She downed the wine in her cup in one gulp and poured herself another. After draining three cups in a row, Mo Qingshui spoke, as if to herself, ”On the Celestial Spirit Continent, the strong are revered. It’s perfectly normal for a man to have several women.”

”That’s right. I didn’t blame him for being a womanizer back then. But our marriage was decreed by the Ancestor, and he still rejected me for other women. Was I the one in the wrong?”

Mo Qingshui’s expression turned forlorn. Clearly, Lin Yun’s words had dredged up a memory from the depths of her heart she had no desire to touch.

Looking at Mo Qingshui, Lin Yun sighed internally. ’Who can truly judge who is right or wrong in a situation like this?’

”My master asked me to pass on a message,” Lin Yun said slowly. ”If a man could abandon the other women who loved him just for you, then perhaps one day, he would do the same to you for another woman.”

His voice was soft, but upon hearing his words, Mo Qingshui stared blankly at Lin Yun. Her once-icy gaze softened, and her eyes glistened with tears she refused to let fall.

”My master said he rejected the marriage because he didn’t want to become the very person he despised the most,” Lin Yun continued.

At this, both Lin Yun and Mo Qingshui fell silent. Judging by Mo Qingshui’s expression, Lin Yun’s words had clearly had an effect. However, they were still a long way from convincing her to go to Wind City and meet Luo Feng. Lin Yun knew he had to add more fuel to the fire.

”Be that as it may, the fact remains that he rejected the marriage. I will never forgive him.” Sure enough, after a long silence, Mo Qingshui rose to leave, her voice once again becoming bone-chillingly cold.

As he had expected, Lin Yun didn’t get up to stop her. He simply asked calmly, ”Can you truly let him go?”

At Lin Yun’s words, Mo Qingshui, who had already reached the doorway, stopped in her tracks. Seeing his chance, Lin Yun continued, ”If you still love him, why not give yourself a chance? My master didn’t say it outright, but I can tell. He still loves you.”

He was extremely reluctant to say this, as he had no idea what Luo Feng was truly thinking. However, the more he interacted with Mo Qingshui, the more Lin Yun felt that Luo Feng shouldn’t have wronged her so.

”Why exactly did you ask me here today? What is it you want?” Turning, Mo Qingshui faced Lin Yun.

”I came to Jincheng to help my master resolve his lingering obsession,” Lin Yun answered calmly. ”I know he misses you dearly. If that’s the case, why must the two of you hate each other so much?”

”You don’t understand a thing! You know nothing about what happened between us. Do you think it was all that simple?” Mo Qingshui snapped.

With Lin Yun peeling back her defenses layer by layer, Mo Qingshui was no longer so cold. At the mention of Luo Feng, she was beginning to confront her true feelings.

This was exactly the result Lin Yun wanted. As long as Mo Qingshui could face her own feelings, he was confident he could convince her to go to Wind City.

”Not that simple? Why? Because of the Flawless Palace and the Wuji Sect? Or is it because of Bai Ling?” Lin Yun pressed.

Without waiting for her to reply, Lin Yun went on, ”If it’s because of the Flawless Palace and the Wuji Sect, then I think that’s ridiculous. Must two people consider every single political angle to be together? Love should be a genuine reflection of the heart, not some carefully calculated scheme.”

”And if it’s because of Bai Ling, then why don’t you, Miss Mo, take a trip to Wind City and clear the air? Get some closure for yourself, and for my master. Or do you intend to keep running away from it forever?”

As Lin Yun finished, Mo Qingshui, surprisingly, didn’t get angry. Instead, she walked out of the room in a daze.

The maid waiting outside saw Mo Qingshui emerge looking dejected and moved to support her, but Mo Qingshui waved her away.

Mo Qingshui left the small courtyard with a heavy heart. After she was gone, Lin Yun sat alone at the table, drinking wine and pondering everything that had happened.

’Mo Qingshui may be an extremist,’ Lin Yun thought, ’but there’s no denying she’s a good woman. She’s loyal and passionate. After all these years, she’s still thinking of Luo Feng, still in love with him.’

At first, Lin Yun had only wanted to resolve the immediate crisis. Now, however, he found himself thinking about how to help Luo Feng and Mo Qingshui untie the knots in their hearts.

”Ah...” Lin Yun sighed after a drink of wine. ”I wonder if I’ll ever have to go through something like this in the future.”

’If something like this ever happened to me, what would I do? If it were Lu Bingning or Lan Xi in Mo Qingshui’s place someday, how would I handle it?’

This was the first time Lin Yun had such a profound thought. The world believed that the powerful were free of desires and wants, but that wasn’t true. Even the strongest had feelings; they experienced joy, anger, sorrow, and pleasure. It was an essential part of human nature. Without these emotions, without feelings, a person couldn’t truly be called human.

This realization was particularly clear to Lin Yun. Never mind the experts of the Celestial Spirit Continent; even the Main Gods of the Divine Realm experienced the full range of emotions and had people they loved.

’Human emotions are the most complex things in the world, but also the most splendid. Perhaps that’s what makes life so meaningful, so worth savoring.’ Lost in these reflections, Lin Yun’s Mental Realm suddenly achieved a new level of clarity.

He had once believed that to become a true expert, one shouldn’t have so many emotions or attachments.

Now, however, Lin Yun realized he had been wrong. Joy, anger, sorrow, and pleasure—these were all things one had to experience on the path of cultivation.

To avoid them wasn’t cultivation. A person without joy, anger, sorrow, and pleasure—a person without feelings—could never truly become an expert.

His Mental Realm became perfectly lucid. The two Cultivation Techniques within his body began to circulate simultaneously. Effortlessly, Lin Yun’s cultivation broke through to the Seventh Layer of Primordial Ocean Realm.
