Chapter 369: Chapter 369: Late Night Secret Talk

After bidding farewell to Bai Zhicheng, Lin Yun headed toward Lu Bingning and Lan Xi. He had been away for some time, and his greatest worry was for the two of them.

After Lin Yun left, Bai Zhicheng took a sip of tea. Of the three Main Seat Elders seated below him, one asked in confusion, ”Young Master, why did you agree to help him look after those two women? With Gong Lingqi and Chang Jing’s methods...”

Hearing the Main Seat Elder’s words, Bai Zhicheng waved his hand to interrupt. ”I promised him I would look after those two women, but I never promised I was a hundred percent sure I could. If Gong Lingqi and Chang Jing really do get to those two women...”

”Ah... Young Master, you are brilliant. If Gong Lingqi and Chang Jing really do force themselves on them, I expect Lin Yun will go absolutely insane when he returns.” The Elder instantly understood Bai Zhicheng’s meaning and marveled internally, ’The Young Master is truly brilliant.’

”My goal right now is to muddy the waters, to make Lin Yun throw all caution to the wind and go all-out against Gong Lingqi and Chang Jing. That way, I’ll have plenty of opportunities to bring them both down. As for Lin Yun... he’s a newcomer. So what if he’s talented? If you want someone dead, there are plenty of ways,” Bai Zhicheng said with a faint smile.

It had to be said, Bai Zhicheng’s scheming was truly venomous. He had no desire to join forces with Lin Yun; instead, he wanted to drive him into becoming a complete madman—a madman who would dare to fight Gong Lingqi and Chang Jing to the death.

As for how to push him, the obvious method was to use Lu Bingning and Lan Xi. From the way Lin Yun behaved, if anything happened to those two women, he would truly dare to tear a hole in the heavens.

”Heh heh... Lin Yun, I hope you become the most rabid of dogs. Rest assured, I will certainly provide you with ample reason to go mad. Whether you can stir up these waters, and just how murky you can make them... don’t disappoint me, Lin Yun,” Bai Zhicheng laughed.

Unaware of Bai Zhicheng’s true intentions, Lin Yun had already arrived where Lu Bingning and Lan Xi were. The three of them sat on stone benches in the courtyard as the sky gradually darkened.

”When will Elder Puzhu be back?” Lin Yun asked, eating the grapes the two women had peeled for him.

”We don’t know yet. Master said he was going to find a kind of Spirit Medicine for us, one that can help with our Purification of Essence and Marrow and will be very useful for our future cultivation. He didn’t say what the Spirit Medicine was, though. Sister Bingning and I only know that it seems to be very precious.” As she answered Lin Yun’s question, Lan Xi fed a peeled grape into his mouth.

’You don’t know...’ Lin Yun muttered to himself. With Puzhu gone, the danger to Lu Bingning and Lan Xi was even greater. Lin Yun was not at all reassured.

”I have to go to Jincheng soon. It’s a long journey, and the round trip will take several months at the very least. While I’m gone, I’ll be worried about you,” Lin Yun said, looking at the two women with concern.

Lu Bingning and Lan Xi knew what Lin Yun was worried about. They, too, understood the situation clearly, and for a moment, both fell silent. On the one hand, they didn’t want to make him worry; on the other, they were blaming themselves, feeling that this whole mess was their fault.

Seeing the self-reproach in their hearts, Lin Yun gently pulled them into an embrace and said softly, ”I’m your man. Besides, it would be strange if beautiful women like you didn’t have any admirers.”

”But... but...” Hearing his words, Lu Bingning tried to say something more, only to be interrupted by Lin Yun.

”Actually, you don’t have to worry too much. I’ve already thought of a plan. Just do as I say...” Lin Yun whispered, laying out his entire plan for the two women.

After hearing him out, both women looked at Lin Yun with a strange light in their eyes. Lu Bingning was the one to ask, ”Is that possible? Will *he* help us?”

”Don’t worry. I said she’ll help, so she’ll definitely help,” Lin Yun replied with confidence.

Seeing how certain Lin Yun was, both women felt his plan was a bit risky; convincing that person seemed highly unlikely. But faced with his confident expression, they still chose to believe him. He was their man, after all.

Lin Yun chatted with Lu Bingning and Lan Xi for a while longer before leaving. As he left, he repeatedly urged them to stay indoors as much as possible while he was away, since there was no telling when Gong Lingqi and Chang Jing might return.

Watching Lin Yun’s back as he gradually disappeared into the darkness, Lu Bingning stood at the courtyard gate and asked Lan Xi, ”Do you think his plan will work?” ℯℯ𝘭.𝘤ℴ𝘮

”We have to trust him. I also think that person will be hard to persuade, but since he’s so sure, we can only put our faith in him,” Lan Xi replied.

Hearing Lan Xi’s words, Lu Bingning nodded.

In a situation like this, the two of them were helpless. After all, Gong Lingqi and Chang Jing had powerful backgrounds; even Puzhu probably wouldn’t dare offend them.

After saying goodbye to Lu Bingning and Lan Xi, Lin Yun ambled slowly back to his own courtyard.

Today, Lin Yun had wreaked havoc, crippling more than ten Direct Disciples. But this brought him no relief; instead, his heart grew heavier.

’I never intended to compete for the position of Palace Master; after all, I’ll have to leave sooner or later. But now look at this mess. I’m afraid every single one of the Ten Core Disciples now sees me as a thorn in their side.’

’With my talent becoming more and more apparent, and now that I’m living in Luo Feng’s residence, all Ten Core Disciples already see me as a competitor.’

’Compared to those who have been in the Flawless Palace for many years, a newcomer like me should be the easiest to deal with. But coincidentally, I’m also the biggest wildcard.’

’I’m sure many people want to eliminate me now.’

Returning to his own courtyard, Lin Yun sat down cross-legged and began to cultivate with his eyes closed.

Time passed slowly. At Midnight, Lin Yun, who had been cultivating with his eyes shut, suddenly opened them. Gauging the hour, he said calmly, ”It’s about time.”

As soon as he spoke, Lin Yun’s body melted into the darkness, and he slipped out of his room without a sound.

Arriving at a door, Lin Yun knocked lightly. A moment later, a woman’s voice came from inside. Judging by her tone, which was thick with sleep, it seemed he had woken her up.

”Who is it?” the female voice asked, sounding annoyed.

”Lin Yun,” he replied calmly.

Hearing his answer, the room went silent for a few seconds before the voice returned, clearly displeased. ”What are you doing here this late?”

In response, Lin Yun said a few words to the person inside. The door was then opened, and he walked straight in.

After Lin Yun entered the room, over in Luo Feng’s chambers, Luo Feng himself, who had been cultivating with his eyes closed, opened them. A faint smile touched his lips. ”Little fellow, it seems you’re not so stupid. You know who to turn to at a time like this.”

With that, Luo Feng closed his eyes once more.
