Destined Entwining: Capturing My Devoted Beau

Chapter 86: Chapter 63: Brothers in Adversity (First Update)

”Jump into the lake?” Kenneth Osborne slowly raised his head, thinking he heard it wrong, his delicate phoenix eyes squinted slightly, ”Who jumped into the lake?”

”Molly Zimmerman.” Joyce Shaw sighed excessively, ”This girl really seems to love you sincerely, don’t you even think about considering it?”

Kenneth felt slightly annoyed and tapped the keyboard, speaking helplessly, ”...Enough already? Just jumping into a lake doesn’t make it true love. I can’t handle this kind of sincerity; if you like it, take it yourself.”

Joyce: ”...”

He imagined himself in the situation and found it quite troublesome.

The most important part is that this kind of act seems to impose moral coercion, which makes people uncomfortable.

The emotions between men and women are always so delicate.

Sometimes, just a glance and smile from the other person can instantly increase your affection.

Other times, just a sneeze from the other person can erase all your feelings.

There aren’t many people like Molly Zimmerman who go down one path blindly, hitting a dead end but never turning back.

Joyce sent Kenneth two videos saved by others from the forum.

He watched them himself while laughing his head off and pointed at Lawrence Winters’ video, saying, ”...Your little hometown friend is incredible! Every word and sentence pressuring Molly Zimmerman, confirming her unrequited love and causing trouble, no wonder most people are taking her side.”

Kenneth raised his eyebrows, ”...There’s even a video?”

These girls are really playing hard.

Kenneth’s project was already not going smoothly, and he had to rush to submit the code by the deadline.

He felt somewhat restless and agitated.

He tapped the mouse with his finger and casually accepted the two videos sent by Joyce.

He first opened the video posted by Molly Zimmerman’s friend, making him frown and his teeth practically ache.

Then he opened the ”complete uncut” version of the video, and Kenneth couldn’t help but let out a snicker.

Joyce laughed even more exaggeratedly than he did, bending back and forth, pounding the desk, and whistling.

Kenneth glanced at him and said dryly, ”Don’t you have a girlfriend?”

”...That’s just an online relationship, we haven’t met in person yet...” Joyce quickly pulled his smile back and said seriously.

Kenneth withdrew his gaze, took a pack of cigarettes from the desk drawer, and walked onto the balcony to smoke.

Capital City’s early spring nights are still somewhat cold; Kenneth stepped onto the balcony from the stifling dorm room, the cold wind hit him, and his head felt better, not as painful.

He took out his phone and found Lawrence Winters’ number, then dialed it.

Lawrence Winters, feeling a bit hungry after causing a ruckus at night, boiled water in a small electric kettle to eat instant noodles.

Seeing Kenneth Osborne’s number, she swiped to answer, speaking indistinctly, ”...Ken? What’s up so late?”

Kenneth: ”...”

Something happened tonight involving him, and she’s acting so unaffected? Her heart really is carefree.

If Kenneth didn’t know Lawrence so well, he might think she was ”putting on a brave smile.”

Of course not.

Lawrence doesn’t have a carefree heart; she simply doesn’t have that consideration for him.

That’s why she was able to deal with Molly Zimmerman so boldly.

If she had even a minor feeling for him, she wouldn’t have been able to ”precisely and fiercely” hit Molly’s weak spot in that video without regard for her image or demeanor.

Uninvolved, unperturbed—as they say, that’s her situation.

Kenneth exhaled a puff of smoke, watching the white smoke slowly dissolve into the air, and said, ”...I saw you fall by the lake. Are you okay physically? Any scrapes?”

Lawrence almost choked on her instant noodles.

She quickly grabbed a tissue to wipe her mouth and took a sip of water before saying, ”...How do you know? Ah? Did you also see the video? That building was clearly already deleted!”

”A friend sent it to me.” Kenneth didn’t elaborate further, prompted a few more times, and once convinced Lawrence wasn’t hurt, he breathed a sigh of relief, saying, ”This kind of thing won’t happen again in the future. If it does, make sure to let me know first, and I’ll accompany you...”

”What? Kenneth the academic god wants to accompany me in stage-playing? No way, no way, what about your status? Your image? You want to give them up?” Lawrence steadied herself and then picked up another bite of noodles, eating with relish.

”Being with you, who dares to maintain an image...” Kenneth joked half-heartedly, ”One moment I lose sight of you, next you’re nowhere to be found. Do you remember when you were little, you asked me to take you shopping; I glanced at a book in the bookstore, and you disappeared into the crowd?”

Lawrence also remembered the event and laughed heartily, ”Of course! I saw a street artist performing monkey tricks, right? Just went to see the excitement!”

”At four years old you watched the excitement, almost getting ’carried away’ by a ’street artist’.” Kenneth snorted, lecturing her, ”It’s the same now, don’t presume you’re safe just because you’re in college; college is also a small society where the darkness of society exists, just not as intensely.”
