Destined Entwining: Capturing My Devoted Beau

Chapter 83: Chapter 61: Plucking a White Lotus (Part 3)

”That person said she couldn’t run as fast as the room leader. By the time she chased downstairs, the room leader had already disappeared.”

The rich sister took her toiletries and went to the bathroom to shower, saying nonchalantly, ”The room leader is an adult, we’re not her mom. If she leaves the dorm at night to meet a guy, what’s it to us?”

She said this and went into the bathroom, slamming the door shut with a bang.

The wild girl looked at Lawrence Winters and gritted her teeth, saying, ”...Lawrence, what do you think?”

Lawrence Winters thought for a moment, ”Let me do a divination.”

The wild girl: ”!!!”

”Lawrence, you can tell fortunes?!” Her round eyes widened even more.

”Not fortune-telling, it’s just that I have learned ’The Book of Changes’.” Lawrence Winters smiled and nodded, took out three copper coins, and tossed them six times in total.

After the divination results came out, Lawrence Winters immediately said, ”Southeast direction, near water is ominous.”

”Southeast direction? Ah! Our school has a lake over there!” The wild girl shivered, ”No way... She wouldn’t be thinking of something drastic, would she?”

Lawrence Winters looked at the divination result and shook his head, ”All bark, no bite.”

The wild girl pulled her to her feet, chattering, ”We’d better go check... just in case she’s thinking along those lines... You know, girls can take this kind of setback really hard.”

”...Wild girl, I didn’t know you and the room leader were so close...” Lawrence Winters said with amusement as she put on her coat, ”Truly, eyes deceive.”

”I’m not concerned about her...” The wild girl hesitated for a while and then said softly, ”I’m afraid of ghosts... What if she thinks it through and jumps into the lake, then... what if her spirit comes back?”

Lawrence Winters: ”...Hahaha...”

She laughed until her stomach hurt, ”You did nothing wrong; what are you afraid of ghosts knocking for? Wild girl, I really admire you!”

...

Lawrence Winters was dragged all the way by the wild girl to the small lake in the southeast direction of Yan University.

In the early spring night, the lake surface was calm like a huge piece of deep blue jelly, with a gentle breeze causing ripples to stir.

It was already late at night, and there were hardly any people on the lakeside path, only the occasional chubby water duck poking its head out by the lake, quacking once, then tucking it back under its wing to continue sleeping.

Lawrence Winters and the wild girl held hands and looked around, quickly spotting a silhouette on an iron bench by the lake, with its back turned to them.

Covering its face, occasionally making sobbing sounds.

Lawrence Winters calmly pointed over there, ”That should be the room leader, right?”

”Yes, it’s her.” The wild girl breathed a sigh of relief, ”Great, turns out it’s all bark, no bite!”

She quickly ran over, presumably to comfort and talk to Molly Zimmerman.

Lawrence Winters stood in the shadow of a large tree by the lake not far away, not approaching like the wild girl did.

The tree was not tall, with branches up to her shoulders, just enough to hide her figure.

She really didn’t want to come.

Clearly, Molly Zimmerman was the one deliberately doing little things to blacken her name, yet she still had to care about her life or death; why?

She hated Saint Mothers who repay evil with kindness the most.

But at such a late hour, she was also not comfortable letting the wild girl come out alone.

Being able to accompany the wild girl to this point was already her limit.

Lawrence Winters watched for a while, just as she was about to turn and leave, her ears caught a sudden uproar coming from the 7 o’clock direction.

There were clattering footsteps, flickering flashlight beams, and calls growing nearer: ”...Molly! Molly Zimmerman! Where are you?”

”Molly! Don’t do anything foolish!”

”Molly, you big benefactor! Don’t think this way!”

”If anything happens to you, it’ll just benefit those jerks and sluts!”

Lawrence Winters peeked out from under the tree and saw it was indeed their department’s student council leading a group over, bringing many other students as well.

A large crowd, almost bringing half the school.

Lawrence Winters frowned and realized something was off.

Her thoughts raced as she looked back toward the wild girl and Molly Zimmerman.

Just now, Molly Zimmerman, who was sitting on the iron bench with her head down, suddenly jumped up and ran toward the lake.

The wild girl was startled, hugging Molly Zimmerman’s waist tightly from behind, refusing to let go.

Yet Molly Zimmerman struggled more fiercely, her cries growing louder, ”...Let me go! Let me die! What’s the point of living?! Humiliated to this extent, how can I still have the face to live in this world!”

Her voice was so loud; it echoed in the tranquil lakeside night sky.

Lawrence Winters looked back to see someone in the running student council group taking out their phone to start recording video.

She suddenly realized and then chuckled in anger.

Kenneth Osborne was right when he said someone was ”writing and starring in their own play”!

Previously it was just ”writing and starring in” a teen romance literary film, but now it’s a ”writing and starring in” horror suspense social drama!

Fine, I’ll let you have it!

Lawrence Winters thought, today’s good deed of the day achievement doesn’t seem to have been unlocked yet.

She rushed out of the tree’s shadow with her phone, shouting louder than Molly Zimmerman, ”Room leader! Room leader! Don’t think this way!”

”Why rush to death over a man who doesn’t love you!”

”Even if you die! He won’t look at you either!”

Lawrence Winters’ voice was crisp and bright, with clear pronunciation, making it easier to understand than Molly Zimmerman’s wailing with a weeping tone.

She recorded video with her phone while rushing to the wild girl’s side, standing behind Molly Zimmerman, just in time to block the view of the student council people.

From their angle, they could only see the backs of Lawrence Winters and the wild girl, perfectly concealing Molly in front of them.

The wild girl hugged Molly Zimmerman’s waist with all her strength, afraid she might really jump into the lake.

Lawrence Winters ran quickly, and as she neared, she leapt forward in a flying dive, also hugging Molly Zimmerman.

She was already heavier than the other two, and her pounce directly knocked Molly Zimmerman out of the wild girl’s grip.

Although Molly Zimmerman didn’t intend to jump into the lake, the momentum from Lawrence Winters’ pounce was too strong, pushing her straight forward.

Unable to stop, with a splash, she really fell into the lake...

Meanwhile, Lawrence Winters elegantly fell to the ground by the lakeside, extending an arm forward, making a perfect ”stop” gesture with a face full of anguish, ”...Room leader! Room leader! Why are you doing this! To live and die for a man who won’t even look at you! You’re a disgrace to the female students of Yan University ah ah ah!”
