Daddy Always Gets Jealous

Chapter 121: 121 Series Ties (3)_1

The old man nodded. It was already good that he had come back; he did not want to expect too much.

Auntie Shen went upstairs, gently knocking on the door.

Che Huan had just gone to the bathroom to wash her hands.

Huo Jinnan walked to the door, opened it, and glanced at Auntie Shen, simply handing over the empty plate and bowl, ”Another serving.”

”Yes, Second Young Master.” Auntie Shen bowed her head as she took them, not daring to look at the Second Young Master. The thought of the look he had given her earlier still terrified her.

She hurried downstairs with the plate and bowl in hand.

Huo Bei glanced over and noticed that Auntie Shen did not replace the dining ware. Were the gentleman and Miss Che sharing a set?

Wasn’t the gentleman always a stickler for cleanliness?

Soon, Auntie Shen served the meal and carried it upstairs.

Huo Bei watched without saying anything, his gaze shifting to the little master.

The little guy fiddled with his chopsticks, bored out of his mind. ”Grandma, let’s go upstairs and eat with Dad?” he suggested.

Upon hearing this, Huo Qichang glanced quickly at the old man’s expression and said softly, ”Uncle Guan mentioned that your dad did not sleep well last night and needs to rest later.”

The little guy ignored Huo Qichang, pursed his lips, and turned to Huo Bei, ”Remind him not to stay up late all the time, he’s getting old. His health isn’t good, and with so few people caring for him, he doesn’t know how to cherish himself! What will I do to support myself if something happens to him and strangers take over our home? I’m still so young.”

”Yes, Little Master.” Huo Bei smiled awkwardly and dared not meet the eyes of everyone in the dining room.

Yet in an instant, the atmosphere at the dining table turned weird again.

The little guy ate as if nothing bothered him, occasionally talking to Zhong Qin.

Huo Jinxue glanced at Huo Jinbei and whispered, ”Just like Second Brother’s offspring.”

Huo Jinbei signaled her to shut up and looked towards the little guy. Second Brother nearly neglected him, yet despite his doting, in the little guy’s heart, he was less than a hair from Second Brother’s head. What an ungrateful cub!

The little guy looked at the dining table, noted that Gu Yunqing and Gu Jizhou were about to finish off the few remaining zongzi, pursed his lips, and looked up at Zhong Qin, ”Grandma, save a couple of zongzi for dad at the side, or they will all be gone!”

Upon hearing that, the old man glanced over. There were only two left.

He turned to Huo Jinyun, ”Any more left?”

Huo Jinyun thought of the two plates on the table, ”Grandfather, that’s all.”

The old man looked to Gu Jizhou, ”Leave them for your uncle, Jizhou.”

Gu Yunqing’s chopsticks hung mid-air as she awkwardly withdrew her hand, her eyes reddening as she turned away.

With the old man having spoken personally, Gu Yunping did not dare to speak out and sat there with an unpleasant look on his face.

Huo Jinyun gave him a glance.

Gu Yunping’s expression softened considerably.

It was Gu Jizhou who, with a light smile, placed the plate beside the little guy and Zhong Qin, ”Grandma, I thought my uncle didn’t like zongzi.”

”That’s just what you think.”

Zhong Qin replied indifferently, looking towards the little guy.

Gu Jizhou wasn’t upset, sitting there and talking to Huo Qichang about some interesting news and incidents in Hongcheng, all the way until Auntie Shen came downstairs, glancing in her direction.

Auntie Shen shook her head at Gu Jizhou before entering the kitchen.

Gu Jizhou withdrew his gaze and continued to chat with the old man and Huo Qichang.

Che Huan saw Huo Jinnan pick up the chopsticks she had just used and sit there to eat lunch. Not daring to look anymore, she walked onto the balcony, stood there, and let the breeze blow across her face before she felt much better.

Huo Jinnan glanced sideways, ”Aren’t you afraid that Gu Jizhou will see just when he’s downstairs?”
