Chapter 2175: Finally, A Worthy Fight (2)

Zhong Tian Yun obtained his position as Alliance Leader at the request of the great sects. It was exactly after their loss in the God Realm. It was not even close; they were getting swept out from the God Realm, and the Alliance Leader was killed back then.

He didn’t inherit this position directly. The one who inherited the position was the disciple of the previous Alliance Leader who led the war. No one objected to the succession since the disciple was the Alliance Leader’s right hand.

There was nothing wrong with the disciple inheriting the position, and they sealed the Sacred Realm, agreeing not to go out to fight the God Realm again. Not that they didn’t have confidence in their martial arts, they lost in numbers after learning that the God Realm was a place where people came from hundreds of realms.

It was stupid to fight the God Realm as a whole, and they agreed not to bother the God Realm anymore. Their pride didn’t allow them to live in the God Realm as well. Even though they didn’t want to attack the God Realm anymore, they still considered the people from the God Realm as enemies, after all.

That was until the said disciple who inherited the seat pitched an idea for the second war against the God Realm. It was ten years after he inherited the Alliance Leader’s position. It was an act of vengeance; he wanted to avenge his master, who was killed in the God Realm.

The great sect opposed the idea, which was supported by the four empires, two palaces, and the eight families, which later became the foundation of the Murim Alliance. Of course, the idea was supported by a lot of forces as well. The Sacred Realm was split into two sides, and a war erupted. Those who wanted to remain in the Sacred Realm sealed, and those who wanted revenge against the God Realm.

Back then, Zhong Tian Yun was a wandering cultivator without affiliations. He joined the great sects to fight the crazy Alliance Leader. As a survivor who returned from the war against the God Realm. He knew the war was a suicide mission.

He fought together with his friends and the great sects, which lasted for twenty years. They killed the Alliance Leader, and the great sects supported him to be the next Alliance Leader. It is because of his background, which was not affiliated with any force.

Zhong Tian Yun refused at first, but Shaolin and the other great sects convinced him to take the seat. That was when he got his position as the Alliance Leader. Despite the eight great families’ attempt to replace him, he remained in the seat because of the great sect’s support as well as the two palaces.

The two palaces didn’t want the great family to lead the Murim Alliance because of their bad relationship before, and they were not stupid enough to assassinate him. There was a reason why people called him the Sword God, after all.

Since then, he had been sitting on this seat for a few hundred years. He accepted his job and started to enjoy the peace from his seat. That was what he thought until the Heaven Founder appeared. As if the Heaven Founder was not enough to shake his throne, an unknown group, which was later identified as the Thousand Vows Pavilion, appeared.

These two groups had caused him a great headache, and both equally did great damage to the alliance. The Heaven Founder shook the medium-sized sects and families, and the Thousand Vows Pavilion killed the main pillar of the four families.

While he was reluctant to accept the Alliance Leader position and needed a lot of convincing back then, it was different now. He didn’t want to lose his position, his throne, his own kingdom. To keep his position and retain the support of the great sects, he must do something.

The original plan was to get rid of the Heaven Founder, then he would go to the Thousand Vows Pavilion. That was the only way for him to retain his position after what Tang Shaoyang did.

The Shaolin didn’t say anything about his cooperation with the Thousand Vows Pavilion, but he could tell their disappointment. Meanwhile, Kunlun didn’t hold back, criticizing him for working together with Tang Shaoyang. He was losing the support of the great sects.

Fortunately, Tang Shaoyang got rid of the five great families instead of the great sects. If the Jaegal and the Ximen were not killed, they might be on his back, pulling him down from his throne by now.

His position was safe for the time being. The great sects would not replace him with the danger that the Murim Alliance faced right now. But things changed when he heard the news about the fall of the Tang Family.

He heard about the Thousand Vows Pavilion’s next target, but he didn’t expect them to strike the Tang Family when they were currently in a cooperation. That became a trigger that caused a change in his plan.

The Thousand Vows Pavilion might be too dangerous even compared to the Heaven Founder. The fact that they could get rid of the Tang Family in one night was quite scary. He changed his plan, secretly making contact with the Heaven Founder.

He didn’t have faith in that plan, but he was surprised that the Heaven Founder agreed with his proposal. More importantly, they specifically asked about an individual named Tang Shaoyang. The moment they confirmed the name from his mouth, the Heaven Founder agreed to work with the Murim Alliance to get rid of the Thousand Vows Pavilion.

Afterward, Zhong Tian Yun specifically mentioned the spy inside the Heaven Founder. He told them that Tang Shaoyang had an eye and ear inside the Heaven Founder, telling them to be careful.

The Heaven Founder’s leader, Mo Tianshen, assured him that they would only tell the important figures about this cooperation. The fact that Tang Shaoyang found out about it means the spy was one of those important figures. That shocked Zhong Tian Yun, but that also explained how Tang Shaoyang found out about the Heaven Founder’s movement.

Zhong Tian Yun’s angry expression calmed down after Tang Shaoyang exposed his scheme. He was angry his loyal followers were killed, but he maintained his composure.

It was not the time to confront Tang Shaoyang right now. He must let Tang Shaoyang fight the Heaven Founder first, exhaust them, and take down whoever survives. That was the best way to take them down without deploying the Murim Alliance’s force.

”Blame yourself! If only you hadn’t attacked the Tang Family, we might still be on the same side!”

Tang Shaoyang chuckled, shaking his head, ”I am curious if you can say the same thing later on...” Then he waved his hand, ”But that doesn’t really matter. You have fulfilled your role to lure him out.”

Tang Shaoyang could see that the Heaven Founder’s force was approaching the city. At the same time, the demonic cultivator who had caused a ruckus in the city went into a frenzy as well and started killing people on the street as they approached his little restaurant.

”I just didn’t expect that you would be willing to sacrifice a whole city. I guess that explained what happened in the Immortal City. You just don’t care what will happen to your people.”
