Chapter 2157: Cooperation (1)

Tang Shaoyang was genuinely interested in fighting Alliance Leader Zhong. For someone who was known as a Sword Guard, he wanted to test his own technique against the master of the sword.

Zhong Tian Yun met with Tang Shaoyang’s gaze. His friends’ voices rang in his head through voice transmission, persuading him not to fight Tang Shaoyang. They were telling him to be patient until they recovered so they could assist him in the battle.

Then he glanced at Yan Xueyi, who was pale. This was the second time Yan Xueyi faced this kind of situation. The first one happened not long ago when her Master was killed. If he fought Tang Shaoyang, the little girl would witness the same scenario. This battle would result in hundreds of casualties and could potentially destroy the city completely.

Alliance Leader Zhong closed his eyes and took a deep breath. His body relaxed as he made the decision, listening to his friend’s advice.

”I don’t want to fight you. I never wanted to fight you in the first place. It’s you who has always been provoking me since our first meeting.”

”Now you killed the four Great Families. I need an explanation why you kill them, or I will take this as a war declaration against the Murim Alliance?”

”Tch,” Tang Shaoyang clicked his tongue, ”I don’t really want a war against the Murim Alliance.”

His statement surprised Alliance Leader Zhong as well as the others, including Bing Lianxin, Bing Ruohan, Avyn, and the other spirits. A full-blown war would help them to take over the Sacred Realm, the whole world.

It was not an impossible goal to achieve based on how strong the Murim Alliance Leader was. In fact, it was quite easy for them to do so. Tang Shaoyang alone should be enough to kill the Alliance Leader.

Of course, Tang Shaoyang has his reasons as to why he didn’t want to go to war against the Murim Alliance. He could defeat them, but the aftermath would be troublesome for him. If the faction that put the Sacred Realm disappeared overnight, it would plunge the Sacred Realm into chaos.

He could take over the Sacred Realm with his people, but that was the actual problem: the people. He didn’t have enough people to take over a world like the Sacred Realm. Not that he lacked trusted people, but he lacked the people with power.

If the one in charge of this world were not strong enough, the people of this world would not listen and would create more problems for him instead. The world would become lawless and would hinder instead of enriching him.

There was another problem, the stubbornness of the people in the Sacred Realm. He doubted they would listen to a faction from outside the Sacred Realm. That would lead to a fight against the native of the Sacred Realm, which would lead to another pointless war.

That was why having the Murim Alliance benefited him more than getting them destroyed. Losing a few major factions would not destroy the Murim Alliance. For that reason, he avoided going to war against the Murim Alliance, let alone destroying the alliance.

”And as I said, it’s a personal grudge, Alliance Leader. It’s a grudge between my people and them, but I guess you should be aware too if I mention the name,” Tang Shaoyang smiled, ”This name will recall the past incident that you decided to ignore. The past that came back to bite you and the Murim Alliance, the Ouyang Family.”

Zhong Tian Yun’s eyes widened in shock when the name was mentioned. That was the name that caused an uproar around thirty years ago. A major family being wiped out overnight would certainly create an uproar, and the culprit was not found either until now.

That was what the Murim Alliance told the world. However, Zhong Tian Yun knew the culprit, a joint operation of five Great Families to wipe out the Ouyang Family. The five great families involved were: The Jaegal Family, the Murong Family, the Situ Family, the Ximen Family, and the Tang Family.

The Tang Family didn’t directly get involved, but they gave the poison to weaponize the four great families. The poison was, in fact, playing a great role in the fall of the Ouyang Family. Or else, even if the four families worked together, they would not be able to wipe out the Ouyang Family overnight.

He knew the culprit, but there was nothing he could do. It was too late to do anything. The Ouyang Family was wiped out. It would be pointless to have a big fallout with the five great families over the dead.

That was why he didn’t pursue the matter, but he certainly gave them a serious warning. He could not save the Ouyang Family, but he could prevent the future tragedy. It was more of a threat than a warning, as in the following months, he defeated the five Family Heads, a warning they could not ignore ever since.

That was when Zhong Tian Yun realized what the woman meant by there was one more. That one more family was the Tang Family, who refused his call.

”You remembered. Let’s hope you are not involved in the fall of the Ouyang Family, or else you will become her target too, Alliance Leader Zhong.”

Through this conversation, Zhong Tian Yun connected the dots of what happened. The woman who assassinated the Ximen Family’s head was the Ouyang Family’s survivor.

”As you may have guessed, she was the last survivor of the Ouyang Family. She returns to avenge her family.”

”And you are also the people who destroyed the Dongfang Family!?” Zhong Tian Yun quickly realized that the mysterious group that appeared in the Dongfang Family was also the same group.

If the four Great Families worked together to replace the Dongfang Family, they would replace the Ouyang Family. It was because they were wary of the Ouyang Family, who kept growing stronger. The Ouyang Family kept producing prodigies, which was seen as a threat by the great family.

Of course, Zhong Tian Yun was aware of what the Dongfang Family had to pay for them to replace the Ouyang Family. For the five Great Families, it was more like shooting two birds with one stone for them. They got rid of their rivals, and they reaped a big reward from the Dongfang Family as well.

The mysterious group that came to the Golden Crane City was the Thousand Vows Pavilion. They intended to attack the Dongfang Family as the first target of the Ouyang Family’s revenge, and coincidentally, the Heaven Founder was also planning to attack the Dragon and Phoenix Tournament.
