Chapter 2160: Setting Up the Bait (2)

Zhong Tian Yun understood what it meant because they didn’t need trust in their cooperation. Tang Shaoyang wanted to use him as bait to lure the Heaven Founder. That was a good plan, and it was indeed more convincing with the death of the four family heads from the four great families.

However, the Murim Alliance must bear the risk. First, they would announce to the realm that Ximen, Jaegal, Situ, and the Murong Family lost their pillars. There was a chance the demonic faction would stir up trouble again, trying to take the four families down.

Second, the Heaven Founder might attack the four great families instead of coming for him. It would be bad if the Heaven Founder or the demonic faction took down the remaining four great families. It might even give a weird idea to the mid-sized sects. They might create an alliance to break free from the Murim Alliance while the Murim Alliance’s influence weakened.

The Murim Alliance had to bear all the risk, while the Thousand Vows Pavilion would lose nothing from this cooperation. Of course, with Tang Shaoyang helping them to kill that outsider, that would make their job to get rid of the Heaven Founder easier.

The Heaven Founder’s leader was not strong enough to win against him and his friends. That outsider was the key for the Heaven Founder to win against the Murim Alliance, after all. Despite taking a big risk, he would be able to get rid of the biggest threat to the Murim Alliance.

However, he was still uneasy about the Thousand Vows Pavilion. What if the Thousand Vows Pavilion turned against the Murim Alliance after they got rid of the Heaven Founder? For this case, keeping the Heaven Founder alive might be better, keeping the Thousand Vows Pavilion in check.

”That’s it?” Alliance Leader Zhong asked in doubt.

He tried to delay his answer while discussing this with his friends through voice transmission. He could not make up his mind.

”That’s it!” Tang Shaoyang nodded.

Just like him, his friends were also undecided. They shared the same concern about the Thousand Vows Pavilion. The old Thousand Vows Pavilion didn’t get involved with the Murim Alliance. They maintained their neutrality between the demonic faction and the Murim Alliance.

Zhong Tian Yun doubted the new Thousand Vows Pavilion would act the same based on their recent movement. The real issue was that the Murim Alliance truly needed assistance to fight the Heaven Founder. Especially after losing the four great families and the Dongfang Family’s betrayal.

On top of that, there was a possibility that there was more than one traitor in the Murim Alliance. He suspected the Dongfang Family was not the only traitor. He had a list in his head of those who might betray the Murim Alliance. It was the four empires and the Tang Clan.

It was no longer secret that the four empires wanted to be freed from the Murim Alliance. They had grown too big compared to the sects and the great family. On top of that, they had built an academy comparable to the first-rate sect as well.

He was not surprised if the four empires worked together with the Heaven Founder so they could be freed from the Murim Alliance’s shackles.

Zhong Tian Yun, however, could not shake the thought of the Thousand Vows Pavilion as a threat to the Murim Alliance. Tang Shaoyang was not the only problem, but his people were as well. The one who killed the four family heads was not Tang Shaoyang, but Tang Shaoyang’s subordinate.

He no longer had the same confidence before the meeting after what happened to the four great families. Unless the Murim Alliance worked together, he was not confident of winning against the Thousand Vows Pavilion.

”What are you going to do after killing the outsider? No. What’s the Thousand Vows Pavilion’s next step after this?”

Zhong Tian Yun didn’t have a choice but to be straightforward with Tang Shaoyang, directly asking what they wanted to do after the Heaven Founder resolved. He didn’t expect a direct answer, but he might get something from probing Tang Shaoyang.

”You are being unnecessarily wary of me. If I want to destroy the Murim Alliance, I am not going to wait until the Heaven Founder is destroyed, let alone entertain you with this conversation.”

Tang Shaoyang truly could not understand Zhong Tian Yun. Zhong Tian Yun was so confident early, confronting him boldly, not hesitating to use his people to test him out. Now he was being overly cautious.

It was a one-time cooperation that would help them to fight the Heaven Founder. If not for Yan Xueyi, he would have attacked Alliance Leader Zhong back then when they killed the four great families. As he planned, he just wanted to wound Alliance Leader Zhong to lure out Alderman Fiodor.

”You are not my ally, but you are also not my enemy, Alliance Leader Zhong. There’s no reason for me to destroy the Murim Alliance.”

Tang Shaoyang let out a sigh, ”I am not going to force you to cooperate with me if you don’t want to. It doesn’t really matter to me whether you want to work together with me or not. The difference is that I just need to wait a little bit longer without you as bait.”

Zhong Tian Yun could not believe what came from Tang Shaoyang’s mouth, ”You expect me not to be wary of you after you killed the four great families?”

”And I told you why. This is between the Ouyang’s survivors and those who worked together to take down the Ouyang Family. Unless you played a role in the fall of the Ouyang Family, otherwise the Murim Alliance should be safe from my sword.”

Zhong Tian Yun didn’t want to cooperate with Tang Shaoyang. It was too dangerous, unpredictable. However, he needed every hand to fight that outsider. That was his friends’ assessment of those who almost died at the hands of the outsider.

”It’s now or never, Alliance Leader Zhong. You getting injured will be more believable if we spread it together with the death of the four family heads. The chance of the Heaven Founder falling for the bait is higher.”

Tang Shaoyang pressed for an answer.

The Alliance Leader closed his eyes, not refuting Tang Shaoyang because it made sense. The effect would be stronger if the Alliance Leader suffered a severe injury along with the death of the four family heads.

He opened his eyes and nodded, ”Let’s do it!”

”Good choice, and I have a plan to make this farce even more believable!”

Right after he said that, the ground shook as everyone in the room could hear something big just fall into the Murim Alliance.

Zhong Tian Yun flew up, creating a hole in the roof as he checked what happened. That was when he found fourteen golden swords, gigantic golden swords that destroyed the Murim Alliance’s building.

”TANG SHAOYANG!!!”
