Chapter 2088: Zhang Mengyao’s Frustration

Tang Shaoyang snuck into her daughter’s room after using integration with Artras. He didn’t want to alert anyone who was sleeping right now. He made sure to sneak in without even opening the door.

As soon as he arrived in her daughter’s room, he came out of the shadows and stood next to the bed. The three little dragons were sleeping next to the pillow, right next to his daughter’s head, each of them.

Ava and Li Shuang were sleeping with them; the trio was in the middle, and they slept at the edge. Their presence seemed to give them comfort. Especially Xiulan, who embraced her mother with her tiny hand tightly.

Glodden already sensed him the moment he returned to the building. He didn’t do anything that might wake his daughter, floating next to the window while holding his golden trident. He nodded at Tang Shaoyang and stayed there, fulfilling his duty to keep his daughters safe.

Tang Shaoyang stood in silence, watching them from the side. A relief washed over him, relieved that they were okay, no physical wound or anything. The only thing he was worried about was the mental trauma that would scar them.

He stayed like that until he heard the door movement that caused him to turn. Zhang Mengyao and Kang Xue were at the door, beckoning with their hands, calling him over.

From their earnest expression, he could tell that they wanted to talk with him. Of course, he could also tell what they wanted to talk about.

Tang Shaoyang gestured to them to wait as he gave a last glance at her daughters. He stayed like that for a moment before turning around. The moment he looked away, he heard a quiet groan. He snapped toward the voice.

It was Tang Xiulan. Her face crunched into discomfort while groaning. He could see her tiny hands were clenching her mother’s clothes, furrowing her eyes deeper. That lasted like ten seconds before she calmed down.

Through his Absolute Sense, he could feel her fear. She was in a panic for a moment, but fortunately, it passed quietly. In that moment, he made up his mind, truly made up his mind about something.

His concerned face turned into a frown as he walked out of the bedroom. The door remained open as Zhang Mengyao and Tang Xiulan were waiting outside.

”Follow me,” Zhang Mengyao waved her hand, gesturing to him to follow her.

Tang Shaoyang also didn’t want to talk outside his daughter’s room, afraid he would wake them up. He was brought to the other room, which was quite far from the bedroom. There was steaming coffee and also his favorite salty bread.

That bread was Elin’s original recipe. She made it salty because he didn’t like sweets, and he liked it with his black coffee.

He took a seat and reached for the cup to take a sip. That one sip helped him to calm down even more than the Essence of Tranquility Breathing. Sometimes, food did better than an actual technique. He ripped a chink of the bread and ate.

The good food truly helped him to control his anger. He finished the bread in his hand before looking up at Zhang Mengyao, who seemed to be waiting. Kang Xue sat next to him with her own cake.

”So, could you tell me in more detail what you did instead of telling me that you would return in one or two days?”

Tang Shaoyang expected such a question, but he could tell there was something her wife wanted to say more than just asking that question. He would find out what her wife wanted to talk about soon.

”I killed one of the elves the moment I got out of the garden. Since it happened inside a system-governed city, it triggered the defense mechanism...”

He didn’t hide what happened, telling his wives in detail how the other three Executive Administrators were involved. He narrated everything, including how he attacked the assassin faction that took a contract to kill to the end, how he killed Chief Avourel and the Elders.

Zhang Mengyao and Kang Xue stayed silent, listening to the end. It took a while since he didn’t hide any details, including how he would bring Khaya and her friends to the empire.

”Why? Why didn’t you involve us? It’s no longer your problem and theirs, but it’s the Tang Empire and them. We are part of the Tang Empire. Why don’t you use us in that fight? If you are not going to use your people in your battle, then what’s the point of training and forming the soldiers? What’s the use of the Tarrior if you are not going to involve us in your battle?”

After hearing what Tang Shaoyang went through with such details, Zhang Mengyao could no longer hold back what was in her mind. This thing had been bothering her for a long time.

The thought had been bugging her since the Divine Church invaded Earth. Tang Shaoyang didn’t involve her and Tarrior in his battle. She believed that she and the Tarrior were a lot stronger than they were back then. They should be able to have an impact in the battle with how much they have grown.

His wife’s outburst clicked in his head. This was what she had wanted to talk about, but remained reserved. She could no longer hold it back and let it out after this incident.

Of course, Tang Shaoyang understood where she came from. He had seen how she and the others pushed themselves just to catch up to him. However, it would be hard for them to catch him, almost impossible, the moment he joined the Administrator.

”Before I go to the actual reason, I will say this first: I didn’t really think or plan for attacking the Shadow Star and the Daenelis Clan. It was driven by my anger; I kinda just did it. Even if you and Tarrior have the capacity to join the battle, I might not bring you all to the battle.”

Zhang Mengyao nodded, but she still didn’t say anything. There was more. Even though she knew what he would most likely tell her, she had prepared the answer for that.

”The main reason is, of course, because it will bring unnecessary casualties from our side. It’s the battle between God Ranks. They could kill you with a single attack.”

Tang Shaoyang looked into his wife’s eyes, ”I know you will say that you will choose the enemy on your level, but do you think the enemy’s God Rank will let you do that. What will you do if the God Ranks go past me and come for you or the Tarrior in the Demi-God Rank and below? Do you think you can survive their attack?”

”This is a war. They are not going to be gentlemen who will leave you alone just because you are weaker than them....”

He paused, noticing that her wife looked unconvincing with his reasoning. He had a guess what was in her mind. She might be thinking God Rank and Demi-God Rank were just one rank apart, and she might be able to survive at least one or two attacks from the God Rank.

Tang Shaoyang could break her wife’s fantasy by having a spar with her. He would easily beat her with the current gap. He didn’t need to use his Absolute Aura to beat her. Just Bloodline Transformation should be enough.

However, she might make an excuse that he was an exception. She was not wrong about that. He was indeed kinda a unique case because a lot of people were still underestimating even now.

”I will show you how a battle between God Ranks. What it looks like is a fight between God Ranks. I will show you... tomorrow. With the condition that you will not join the fight, just watch!”
