Chapter 2084: The Reason

Avourel witnessed his elite force getting slaughtered. They had a numerical advantage, but numbers didn’t really matter against absolute power. After his son died, he witnessed the Elders fall one by one. The red-skinned Orc was one of the most terrifying.

Two Elders and two God Ranks, four against one, yet the red-skinned Orc came on top. They could not even wound the monster, and it killed the Elder within two minutes, and finished the rest within ten minutes.

Another terrifying monster was the ruby skeleton with a dragon-kin frame. That was also one of the monsters that killed most of his people. And of course, the most terrifying one was Tang Shaoyang himself.

Avourel could not follow Tang Shaoyang’s movement. He was all over the place, moving through the shadows, and he killed most of his people. He never saw the first five people that Tang Shaoyang brought into the shadows again. On top of that, Tang Shaoyang kept moving within the shadows.

His people were getting frustrated, and two of them fled in fear. However, those who fled were killed quickly. The moment they exposed their back, they became an easy target. Within fifteen minutes, thirty-five God Ranks died, killed by eleven people.

As the battle was over, the reinforcements arrived. However, the reinforcement from the city was too late. Eighty-five people came as reinforcement, including the newly promoted God Rank. The battle continued, and again, despite being heavily outnumbered, Tang Shaoyang and his people rushed toward the reinforcement instead of fighting strategically.

Khaya brought her weak body next to Chief Avourel, sitting on the ground next to frozen Avourel, after giving a bow toward Avyn. She bowed toward Avyn because she knew that this woman was the strongest spirit. The spirit integrated with her. Radiance told her about it.

Radiance emphasized not to get on her bad side. He didn’t tell her to be respectful, but he told her not to be rude. If someone like Radiance feared this woman, then this woman must be genuinely terrifying.

’I guess he is not lying about her. She caught Chief Avourel easily...’

”How do you feel, Chief? How does it feel that the Daenelis Clan falls by your hand?” Khaya asked. Her question was like a knife that directly burrowed into his heart.

”Are you here to mock me? Are you going to torture me instead of stopping him? Are you going to watch your clansmen die before you?” Avourel’s voice was surprisingly calm.

”If I can, I will stop him, but unfortunately, I can’t. I might be valuable to the Daenelis Clan, but I don’t have anything that I can offer to make him stop,” She then looked at Avyn, who had her back on them, ”And do you really think that I can move past this lady too in my condition? Even if I am in my prime, I don’t think I can pass her. She is just that strong for us.”

Chief Avourel looked at Avyn’s back. From that answer, he realized that Khaya knew something about this woman.

”And no, I am not here to mock or torture you. I am here with a genuine question that I am curious about. What gives you confidence that you can kill him? Do you think the Administrator is a joke to you that they will appoint someone weak to be an Executive Administrator?”

Khaya was genuinely trying to understand Chief Avourel. She no longer respected him for his decision to use her against Tang Shaoyang. However, she always respected him before, was willing to listen to his advice, including taking his son to be her Admin Helper and promoting him to Junior Administrator.

She fully trusted him, even though Chief Avourel was biased toward his son sometimes, but she could understand that action. He was still a father, after all. A father who loved his son. That was a good trait for a Chief. She would rather have a flawed leader than a flawless leader, but one who is callous to his people.

”I just want to know why you make such a decision before you die. I want an answer. What makes you think it’s better to side with an alliance that is punished by the System? Look at our situation right now. What can the God Order do to help us now?”

Chief Avourel let out a chuckle, ”Then do you think it’s better to join the Tang Empire, which has the Nirvana Alliance and the God Order as its enemies? Do you think they can survive when those ten years of isolation are over?”

Khaya also let out a chuckle to hear that from Chief Avourel’s mouth.

”Whether the Tang Empire will survive or not, you will not be able to witness it because of your decision. At least, the Tang Empire has more than nine years to prepare for the battle, while the Daenelis Clan will cease to exist today. There are a lot of possibilities that might happen in those nine years, Chief. Including a possibility that the Tang Empire might destroy the Nirvana Alliance and the God Order.”

”You haven’t told me why you want to kill an Executive Administrator? We are getting cornered by the six clans day by day, but we are not in a desperate situation where our clan needs outside assistance. It will take more than ten years for them to destroy us. Why? Why do you think it’s a good idea to assassinate an Executive Administrator?”

Khaya started getting emotional as she poured what was on her mind. She truly could not understand the decision. Even if Chief Avourel disagreed with the Tang Empire’s condition, they could refuse it. It was not like the Tang Empire would do something to them if they didn’t join.

”There’s something wrong with your head if you are willing to work under someone who just reached God Ranks a few years ago. Who would want to work under a brat who just steps into the real world? Are you being serious, Khaya?”

Chief Avourel laughed like a person who had lost his mind, unrestrained, while seeing his people being killed before him.

”We respect your voice, and we kept delaying making a decision even though the Elders and I already reached a unanimous decision not to join the Tang Empire. Your insistence forces me to look for an alternative, a better alternative than your stupid idea to work under a brat like him, who stupidly makes an enemy like Nirvana Alliance and God Order!”

He raised his voice and voiced the reason why. He was not wrong to call Tang Shaoyang a brat because he was much older than Tang Shaoyang. It would be humiliating for a clan that had been independent like them to work under a new faction like the Tang Empire.

”I see... It’s your pride, after all,” Khaya nodded understandingly, ”I guess I am at fault as well, as I am failing to see that your useless pride is in the way that you fail to understand my idea. Or maybe because I have a deep trust in you that I can’t see it. Either way, we can just lament how stupid your decision was.”

”Look at your surroundings, Chief Avourel. This happens because of your pride, the pride that blinds you. The brat in your mouth easily destroyed your clan.”

Chief Avourel let out a chuckle and his lips formed a smirk, ”Destroyed my clan? This will not end with just this, Khaya. You are too naive. The Serpent Star will come and kill him! Do you—”

”Alright, stop there, Chief Avourel. I have to deliver this disaster news to you that the Serpent Star will not come to help us— I am sorry, not us, but you. They will not come to help you when they have just lost their leader and one of their Vice Leaders.”

”Isidrus Vataze and Dilmen Baykara were killed by the same brat you belittle. He killed Isidrus and Dilmen before coming here,” Khaya slowly turned toward Chief Avourel. She wanted to see Chief Avourel’s expression while delivering the news.

”You lie! You are wrong if you can frighten me with such an obvious lie. There’s no way someone like him can kill the Serpent Star’s leader. Do you even understand what you are trying to say? Do you think I will believe that a brat could pass the army of the Serpent Star and kill their leader?” Avourel was dead serious when he said that. He didn’t believe that Tang Shaoyang could kill the leader of the Serpent Star.

Khaya smiled, ”I am also surprised, but do you forget that I am still part of the Red Team? The news is blowing out that the leader of the Serpent Star was killed by the new Executive Administrator. Not just the Serpent Star, but also the Shadow Star.”

”The Shadow Star’s leader and most of their Elders were killed in Allavaine, in their own home. Tang Shaoyang attacked the Shadow Star before coming to us, destroying a few cities and killing most of their force. It seems like not just the Serpent Star, but even the Ten Stars Accord is in a mess after losing them. So yeah, I don’t think the Serpent Star will come to help you, Chief Avourel.”

”They have a bigger problem on their own. The Serpent Star will be busy choosing a new leader. Meanwhile, the Ten Stars Accord needs to fill the void left behind by the Shadow Stars, or their enemy will start attacking them from that gap.”

Khaya chuckled when he saw Avourel’s pale countenance. She didn’t know why, but that made her happy. She never liked this before, but she is happy to see someone in their misery.

”If only you were not busy trying to kill me. I might be able to find out about this earlier and save our clansmen by sacrificing you and the Elders.”
