Armed Train in the Apocalypse

Chapter 437: Chapter 282: None of You Respect Him

As they were about to leave, Mountain Goat said, ”I’ll ask you some questions about evolution once we’re not busy.”

”Me?”

Seeing Lin Jin a bit puzzled, Mountain Goat shrugged, ”Who else? You’re a genius at evolution. I’ve been at Tier One for ages and still haven’t awakened a new skill.”

Lin Jin bowed his head with a bitter smile, ”Can’t even touch the shadow of the conductor, what kind of genius is that.”

Mountain Goat paused at the door, his expression complex.

”You really are a genius, just not very lucky. You encountered a monster.”

Listening to Mountain Goat’s departing footsteps, the pressure in Lin Jin’s heart suddenly eased considerably.

’So it turns out the conductor is just too strong...’

The dull sound of friction outside the train window awakened Lin Jin, compelling him to look up.

The setting sun hung low, and the dim yellow light slowly spread across the city.

The city, covered in dust and sand, became increasingly harmonious with the sky and earth, resembling a legendary Golden City.

The entire city seemed like it had been submerged underwater for years, then suddenly brought to dry, with both buildings and abandoned roadside vehicles all covered in a thick layer of gray shell, and there are few mutant plants outdoors, unlike in the Acid Rain Zone where they grow wantonly, so looking out, there is not a hint of mixed color.

Elsewhere, mutant plants compete with the city for space, but in the Storm Zone, mutant plants have to rely instead on the remnants of human city ruins to compete with storms for survival space.

The train, due to its size, rubbed against an office building, with hard armor grinding the sharp edges into rounded shapes; the building shook, dust cascading down, and zombies began howling, emerging from nearby buildings.

Since entering the Flood Zone, it’s been a long time since encountering these ”old friends.”

Unexpectedly seeing the Butcher’s bloated and greedy face, Lin Jin somehow felt a bit of familiarity.

As the Butcher raised the road sign in his hand, a huge bloody hole appeared on his head.

Must be the sniper from the train taking action.

After the baptism of war with Black Kite, the remaining new recruits have made significant progress.

A group of Tier One zombies now hardly poses a threat to the armed train, merely a minor incident in the daily work of the combat group.

Before Lin Jin’s daze ended, the heavy sniper had already picked off the large Tier One zombies in the horde.

Then precise shooters butchered those leapers and agile zombies like Night Demon.

Finally, the Firepower Hand swept them all clean.

Hundreds of zombies lay quietly all over the ground.

The commotion they caused was even less than the loud scraping sound of armor against the office building.

In the last view from the train window as it passed that area, the Armed Corps and the manufacturing group’s crew had already driven down to collect materials, and in a few hours, they would catch up to the train with a load of valuable materials.

To be honest, this isn’t quite like the apocalypse he initially imagined.

At first, he thought it would be like in games or movies, collecting supplies during daylight when zombies are slow, not daring to turn on lights or make sounds after nightfall, wrapping noisy items with cloth strips, eating expired canned food, moldy biscuits, living a life of fearful apocalyptic existence...

But it seems only when the apocalypse initially broke out it was like that.

At least on the train, life is much like it was before the apocalypse.

Children study, adults work, scientists research, soldiers fight, everyone has something to do, no one is idle.

Though some get hurt, some die.

But the people on the train have never fallen into despair.

Under the conductor’s pressure, instead of languishing, they exhibit a bizarre vigor.

Is this really the apocalypse?

Lin Jin does not know, but he likes this life, uniquely the ”Donghuang People’s apocalypse.”

...

The news of the armed train breaching Black Kite’s blockade spread with terrifying speed in the post-apocalyptic world.

As the train headed towards Zhijin City, nearly every faction learned of the general course of the war, even down to details like the conductor’s eating habits and speech quirks.

Tong Zizhan and company spared no effort for this waterborne report.

Deep Blue Data wasted no time, quickly packaging and selling this information to other factions.

The earned money began pouring into the pursuit of cultivating Genetic Primordial.

Initially, many factions regarded Genetic Primordial merely as evolutionary petri dishes, but after witnessing Su Huan’s overwhelming combat prowess, they couldn’t sit still.

Some factions indeed don’t wish to research.

But who knows what others are planning?

If others research it and you don’t, can you coexist harmoniously?

Black Kite serves as a blood-soaked example.

The mighty Number Three Director was pinned down and butchered, the entire faction at the mercy of others.

No high-ranking person can accept this scenario.

Of course, not everyone is wildly frantic; in the end, this news spreads at the top level, while for ordinary survivors, the conductor’s heroic legend isn’t as real as a can of luncheon meat.

Even a bullet can make them sleep a little more soundly.

But for some, this news bore endless value for reflection, even the seemingly trivial details, like the conductor’s speech quirks, were savored word by word by Li Wangchuan.

”It looks like the armed train doesn’t plan to ever turn back; why spend so much on their information, what’s the point?”

Haywood asked, puzzled, holding a teacup.

Seeing no response from him, Haywood could only shrug helplessly and stand up.

Every so often, Li Wangchuan would buy a piece of intelligence on the armed train from him, then fall into this mad obsession, his expression more absorbed than when he caressed his lover.
