Armed Train in the Apocalypse

Chapter 404: Chapter 266: A Stormy Night

A genius like Lin Jin took a little over a year.

For other second-tier geniuses, two years shouldn’t be unreasonable?

If it drags on for another six months, Su Huan wouldn’t have the confidence to meet alone.

Tier Three is already the end for ordinary people, the smallest unit that can threaten a group battle, and there’s a terrifying disparity between Tier Two and Tier Three.

But now...

There’s no disparity, who would be scared?

Even if the opponent has many Tier Two Evolvers, if he wants to escape, they won’t be able to kill him.

This is the advantage of dual professions.

The most crucial thing is that the armed train has just harvested a large amount of electromagnetic equipment.

It now also has electromagnetic armor for defense.

Unlike when facing the Steel Council, when it was utterly broke.

If negotiations break down, then the electromagnetic railgun will pave the way, just blast through directly.

Or rather, fighting past was his initial preparedness.

The ”Fighting Master” is best upgraded during combat.

When there was only one person left in the room, Shu Wei’s indifferent voice sounded, ”Are you really going for negotiations?”

”Stop talking nonsense.”

Su Huan stood up and walked downstairs.

Soon, Su Huan’s surprised shout echoed throughout the dining car.

”Why are we having plain congee at noon?”

Everyone looked at Su Huan with strange expressions and silently lowered their heads to sip their bowls of congee.

Although the staple food was plain, the side dishes were exquisite, including fried crab legs, tempura, wakame, and various pickled vegetables.

The old men liked it very much.

”Knock, knock!”

Su Huan called Yu Yue over and heavily knocked on the table twice, ”The train conductor has worked hard all day, and you just give me congee? Does that make sense?”

Faced with Su Huan’s reprimand, Yu Yue clasped her hands in front of her, lowered her eyes, with a look that seemed to say, if you punish me, I’ll take it, and if you don’t, I won’t change. She was just like Yu Jing.

Who knows what kind of family raised such similar aunt-nephew pair.

Su Huan was so amused that he laughed.

He made a note in his heart, picked up his bowl and chopsticks, and ate.

...

In the Storm Zone, the Deep Blue Twin Towers.

In a high-level conference room, six people sat around a round table.

Compared to other forces, Deep Blue Data retained some functional divisions from pre-apocalyptic times.

Although simplified in many ways, it was still mainly divided into the front desk, middle desk, and back desk, and the business development department where Haywood belonged was a front desk business department.

The Vice President of Business Development was currently saying, ”Currently, the matter of the armed train’s dual Genetic Primordials has been disclosed to most of the forces we have contact with. Black Kite has already released the news that they will conduct a negotiation with the armed train when it enters the Storm Zone.”

The Technical Middle Desk General Manager frowned, ”Is Black Kite trying to hog it all?”

The Vice President of Business shook his head, ”It doesn’t seem so. According to our information collectors’ reports, Black Kite’s third director’s daughter was captured by the armed train.”

The Business General Manager paused for a moment, ”Have our collectors infiltrated the director level already?”

The Vice President smiled mysteriously, ”Of course not, the information was reported by collectors embedded within the armed train.”

The Business General Manager pondered and remained silent.

The others shot them a playful glance.

The business department was responsible for the most matters, and initially, there wasn’t just one vice president, but among the other three, some died accidentally, while others were taken down by the headquarters for making mistakes, leaving only one Boss and one deputy now.

Although he was a deputy, the balance of power between the two had started to tilt.

The Vice President knew, the General Manager didn’t, and that was a very serious issue.

However, this was normal. During the early days of the apocalypse, the company’s power expanded rapidly, and internal conflicts were unprecedentedly fierce. Everyone wanted to climb up, fearing their department would be eliminated with a word from above, naturally showcasing various talents.

The Chief Talent Officer of the back-end functional department had already changed six people in four months.

They were notorious at the headquarters.

Thankfully, most were just transferred or fired, not deceased, so people still came forward despite the difficulties.

The Technical Middle Desk General Manager knocked on the table and smiled, ”Old Wei, we didn’t come all this way just to hear you sell the punchline, everyone has a pile of work at hand.”

The Back Desk Deputy Manager sighed, ”Indeed, recently with the Sanhe Association gone, there’s a ton of work waiting for me to wrap up.”

The Business Vice President Wei Mountain was stunned, ”Sanhe Association, that organization formed by Tianze University alumni, is gone?”

”A bunch of arrogant fools, led by that lunatic Ma Hongyu, they picked a dangerous area and were completely wiped out by a special spore, more than five thousand core members all gone, the remaining tens of thousands scattered in the Spore Zone.”

”When did this happen?”

”A week ago, in about three days, you’ll receive official notification from the company. For now, the Spore Zone has been declared a restricted area.”

Wei Mountain took a deep breath, ”Good thing I’ve stayed in the Storm Zone, but it’s been difficult for you all.”

The Back Desk General Manager concluded, ”Let’s talk business. I don’t recommend getting involved with the armed train’s situation. With your arrangements, Donghuang Heavy Industry and Pan-Asia are watching this negotiation, and counting Black Kite, that’s three top forces involved, along with all sorts of shady figures. Even the partner of Gunfire asked about this matter.”

”Is the demand for Genetic Primordials that high?”

”Everyone needs Genetic Primordials, there’s a shortage everywhere. Plus, the tree that increases vitality is the real treasure. If it wasn’t in Donghuang’s territory, Pan-Asia would’ve come to snatch it...”

Wei Mountain sneered, ”With their level of evolution, they dare to enter Donghuang? They wouldn’t even see a person before being wiped out.”

The Middle Desk General Manager mentioned, ”Our personnel also really want that tree, let’s see if we can reach it before Black Kite...”

”Intercept?”

”Trade!”

”Let’s vote. How many agree to directly engage with the armed train?”

”Five to one, it’s vetoed.”

”How about agreeing to contact the armed train?”

”Six votes in favor, alright, then we’ll proceed with policy formulation based on the meeting’s decisions.”

”No problem.”

...

On a stormy night, outside Yanbei Pass, a steel dragon quietly approached.

White ring-like exoskeleton parted the waves, rows of faintly glowing windows looked like the compound eyes of a giant beast.

Six pairs of high-brightness searchlights illuminated every detail of the century-old pass.

Yanbei Pass stood like a dam, firmly blocking the mountain pass, stopping the flood and preventing it from advancing even a step further.

On the road beneath Yanbei Pass, there was still a thin layer of water, but due to the terrain, it could no longer move along the road into the Storm Zone. However, this water nourished the plants on either side.

The city built along the mountain became lush and verdant, with dense vegetation.

Hundreds of monitoring devices simultaneously activated, and the arrival of the armed train was relayed to the rear.

Behind Yanbei Pass, there was a relatively high square, with a multi-tiered cake-like building hanging with a ”Ningxi Grand Theater” sign.

Dozens of special vehicles were parked in front of the square, with sand in the tire grooves, dividing the entire square into trench-like formations. Equipped and stern-looking armed personnel stood ready.

Meanwhile, inside the theater, it was a completely different scene.

Crystal chandeliers mimicking flowing silk hung from the Baroque ceiling, casting a soft honey-colored glow in all directions. The air was filled with light aromas of white pine and wine, stirred by the movement of waiters in tailcoats.

In front of a room on the side of the hall, a middle-aged man was helping a young man, whose face was cold and handsome, adjust his collar.

Yet Zhong You was indifferent and told his superior coldly, ”Instead of attending a ball, it’s better to let me train. This time is enough for me to increase my strength attribute by one point.”

The middle-aged man mercilessly rebutted, ”You haven’t improved in a month, one night won’t make a difference.”

”Besides, don’t you want to meet Miss Shu?”

Zhong You’s pupils contracted, ”426 is back?”

(Took a day off yesterday, not considered slacking, mainly just to relax myself, organize the upcoming plot, the recent advancement isn’t much since we’re about to enter a new area, mainly to fill in the gaps and tidy up some less important subplots, tidying up neatly. If there are any doubts, you can mention them here, I’ll see what I might have missed.)
