Armed Train in the Apocalypse

Chapter 434: Chapter 280: Prophecy (2)

Last night, Shu Wei gained a level of trust from the train conductor through his own performance, officially becoming a core member of the armored train, and began assisting Su Huan in handling some matters independently.

The position is parallel to the conductor, with an actual status slightly higher than the conductor.

”Director Xu wants to see you.”

”What’s the matter?”

”Last night during the research, the High Priest made a prophecy.”

”A prophecy?”

Su Huan was somewhat surprised.

Shu Wei’s expression was serious, ”The content is bizarre, we can’t really understand it.”

”Interesting, let’s go check it out.”

...

On the third day, an endless stream of supplies crossed the wasteland and was gathered in the abandoned city where Yanbei Pass is located.

On the fourth day, the heavily injured Golden Kite man and his butler were sent back for healing first.

Zhong You was temporarily promoted to captain, leading a group of Black Kite Special Service members to carry out cleanup tasks around and collect resources.

”Captain, Captain!”

The soldier outside was tapping on the window of the armed off-road vehicle, waking Zhong You from his nightmare.

He rubbed the stubble on his face until the slight prickling sensation brought his mind back to clarity.

He rolled down the window, and the wind and sand rushed in, but it was all blocked by an invisible curtain of water behind the window.

”Have we arrived?”

”Those Tier One Sand Armor Beasts have energy levels close to Tier Two, we can’t break through their defense.”

”I’ll handle it.”

Zhong You patted the front seat, and the soldier immediately climbed in to drive.

With the roar of the engine, the armed off-road vehicle sped into the battlefield, the faint sound of gunshots mixing with the wind and sand, the occasional sound of cannon fire like the roar of a giant beast.

”Boom——”

A vibration was felt, and sand and dust rattled against the car window, even the inside of the vehicle had a faint earthy smell. Zhong You looked down at the short spear in his hand, though it was cleaned, it seemed to still have a faint flicker of lightning.

He hadn’t yet recovered from that battle.

Through the rearview mirror, a soldier glanced at Zhong You’s absent expression, ”Are you not in good shape?”

Zhong You took a deep breath, unlocked the joints of his exoskeleton, donned a mask, and muttered.

”Feels like a dream.”

He abruptly opened the car door, and thrust the short spear at two boxes of mineral water on the vehicle.

A pure surge of water instantly converged into a wall of water amidst the wind and sand.

With a bang, it blocked a huge Sand Armor Beast resembling a pangolin.

The giant beast was two meters high and over six meters long, somewhat like a mutated giant lizard, except its body was covered with armor as hard as rocks, and a pair of dull yellow eyes gazed greedily at Zhong You.

Splashing water, like an enraged lion, instantly enveloped the Sand Armor Beast.

The Sand Armor Beast seemed bewildered by the clean water, instinctively extending its slender tongue to lick it.

The water rushed into the Sand Armor Beast’s nostrils and mouth.

The previously blissful vertical pupils immediately contracted into a very fine line, opening its mouth to try to expel the water.

But the water controlled by a Tier Two ”Manipulator” was not so easily expelled.

The swallowed water mixed with Zhong You’s Pan Energy, and under his control, transformed into sharp blades, piercing into the mouth, diving down the throat, tearing apart soft internal organs.

The Sand Armor Beast immediately let out a painful wail, like a crocodile, burrowing headfirst into the ground sand, rolling madly, stirring up waves of sandstorms.

But as Zhong You waved his hand, the moisture gathered in the air adhered to the sand, holding it down to the ground.

Leaving only a muddy Sand Armor Beast rolling on the ground.

Seeing this scene, the special service members fighting nearby all breathed a sigh of relief.

Zhong You looked down at his feet, placing the short spear into the ground, stepping back a few paces, the next moment, a massive fanged mouth sprang from the sand, snapping at empty air, while another struggling Sand Armor Beast ferociously lunged at Zhong You who had dodged away.

This creature had been waiting for an opportunity to counterattack.

Zhong You merely took a step back, his right hand naturally reaching back, detaching a short spear from his exoskeleton, aiming at the Sand Armor Beast lunging forward.

The air rapidly grew humid, the sand could drip water.

It was as if it had rained lightly, and a thick mist had risen, countless dense white mists gathering behind Zhong You, coalescing into a transparent body of water.

The body of water behind him formed a pair of arms over three meters long, clenching the short spear in Zhong You’s hand.

The faint pressure of a wave passed over the howling wind and sand.

”Boom——”

The friction between the body of water and the air emitted a deafening explosion.

The arms contracted threefold.

The short spear vanished into the air in an instant, imperceptible to the naked eye.

The Sand Armor Beast with its massive jaws appeared unscathed, but upon closer inspection, the light in its eyes was gradually dimming.

Decreasing inertia, it slammed heavily onto the sandy ground.

Rolling a few times, it knelt before the handsome young man.

Zhong You’s somewhat vacant gaze passed over the corpse, looking at the distant Sand Armor Beast that began to flee.

”Snap”

Pulling out two spare short spears, twisting them with both hands, doing the same as before.

”Boom, boom...”

After two sounds, three Sand Armor Beasts close to Tier Two lay dead on the spot.

The bloody wind blew, dispersing the moisture in the air.

Replenishing the dry land anew.

If not for having a few vehicle-mounted heavy artillery pieces, an entire battalion wouldn’t be able to hold its own against three Sand Armor Beasts.

Yet Zhong You’s cost was only two boxes of mineral water.

The off-road vehicle pulled up, the soldier eagerly opened the door, ”Captain, take a rest in the car, we’ll handle the rest.”

Zhong You retracted his gaze, looked at him with slight puzzlement, ”Why are you so happy? The spoils aren’t even ours.”

The soldier’s face stiffened, his smile fading.

As Zhong You settled in the back, the soldier grumbled, ”Doesn’t that mean we’ve been working for nothing?”

”If you can’t win, you naturally have to pay the price.”

Seeing Zhong You’s silent demeanor in the rear-view mirror, the soldier was full of confusion.

”Is that train conductor really that formidable?”

...

”Not just formidable; it’s worthy of being called a monster. If it weren’t for Xiaoshui’s quick response, we would have had to pay a hefty ransom to make it out.”

A tall, thin man said with lingering fear.

”Yang Ruoyu, we’re in a meeting, why are you daydreaming?”

Opposite him sat a man in his thirties, wearing a dark blue suit. Strikingly, he didn’t even wear a shirt underneath, his open collar displaying two large, well-defined pecs pressing against the fabric, making it hard to look directly at.

The woman, now out of her uniform, exuded the unique lightness of youth, pushed the thick glasses on her face with a pen, and came to her senses, ”If we can’t use our full strength to take him down, then we shouldn’t provoke him.”

The man couldn’t resist rubbing his palm, somewhat excitedly saying, ”Since you put it that way, I’m even more interested.”

”If you show up in front of him now, there are only two outcomes: if he’s in a good mood, the company pays a ransom, and you come back in disgrace; if he’s in a bad mood, he’ll zap you into a black chimpanzee.”

Facing the head of the company’s executive department, Xiaoshui retorted without holding back.

The man was indifferent, saying, ”Only battling with such strong individuals is worthy of being called evolution. Sitting in the office all day, I’m getting calluses on my rear. Does anyone have any suggestions for how to get him to willingly fight me?”

”Offer money.”

”But being the top fighter of Donghuang Heavy Industry seems a bit undignified, doesn’t it?”

”Currently, he should be the top fighter of Donghuang. In a few days, even the board tables of major northern forces will have his profile.”

”But the true upheaval has just begun. In the future, dual genetic primordials will become even more sought-after. You must be prepared.”

”One person ushering in an era; it’s truly captivating...”

”You keep dreaming; I’ve completed the reconnaissance mission. I’m heading back to headquarters after a two-day rest. Even if the sky falls, don’t expect me to step out.”

Yang Ruoshui yawned, leaning back, her slender waist like a newly budding willow branch.

”Then go rest. Someone, get this photo and report printed and distributed across the entire division. Ensure everyone sees it, even those cleaning the toilets are not to be left out!”
