Armed Train in the Apocalypse

Chapter 431: Chapter 279: Dowry

”——The military has presented a true Evolver.”

Su Huan’s eyes were dark, ”Which Tier?”

”An ’unranked Manipulator’ who can control flames.”

”There were classifications at that time?”

”No.”

Mr. Shu’s straightforward denial left Su Huan slightly astonished.

”When introduced to us, they were called elemental ability users, but after years of subsequent research, it was found that there were too many types of elements, requiring a redefinition of categories. The current five classifications were established as a new standard by the military in collaboration with lab leaders from Black Kite, Deep Blue Data, Donghuang Heavy Industry, and over a dozen other forces.”

Mr. Shu explained.

With the details filled in by Mr. Shu, coupled with information from a past life, Su Huan delved even deeper into the exploration of the mystery.

No wonder the naming conventions for various profession systems are so chaotic, yet the basic categories are surprisingly consistent.

It turns out they were already established before the apocalypse.

”How did the apocalypse come about?”

Mr. Shu had long anticipated this question and shook his head directly, ”I don’t know, and you needn’t waste your effort. We, including all major powers like Deep Blue Data, don’t know either.”

”Back then, the military only briefed us on the natural disasters we were facing, which is the Storm Zone, then signed confidentiality agreements, and began a five-year accumulation with the materials provided...”

Su Huan glanced at Lin Xi; the young girl tilted her head, indicating nothing had happened.

Thinking about it, his eyes suddenly turned dim and colorless.

Originally about to end the topic, Mr. Shu seemed like a box that had been opened, with an endless desire to express pouring out.

”But we weren’t entirely in the dark; the military also carried out personnel transfers and large quantities of materials, which we helped coordinate...”

People like Shu Wei were also listening intently, knowing that even if they asked, Mr. Shu wouldn’t reveal so many details.

Everyone is curious about the ultimate secret of the apocalypse; the only thing missing before was the opportunity.

The pain of evolution is an insurmountable chasm for everyone, and they all want to know where their pain comes from.

”Are you saying the military is engaged in a war?”

Black hair blown by the wind stirred, strands falling across the forehead, with a cold gleam seeping from elongated eyes.

”It’s just speculation; we used every method but couldn’t find where the war was happening. Those materials seemed to disappear into thin air.” Mr. Shu said with perplexity.

”The military’s movement was northwards, and Changbai Province indeed showed signs of large-scale construction, but our investigation found the military wasn’t there. Further north, Mao Bear also showed no military activity; beyond Changbai Province, all traces mysteriously vanished.”

Su Huan, ”How about after the apocalypse, has Changbai Province changed?”

Mr. Shu, ”It’s the Extreme Cold Zone, like the Flood Zone, a severe disaster area with no forces developing there. And currently, the range of our force’s influence only reaches the Spore Zone.”

This aligns broadly with Su Huan’s conjecture; each force’s cross-regional area is limited, or more accurately, the range of human activities is limited post-apocalypse.

From originally roaming across the map to being confined to small ”points” for activities.

Major forces can only barely link these points into lines.

But they still have to continuously battle newborn mutant beasts and mutant plants.

The most frequent tasks Su Huan performed during his time in the Steel Council were routine clean-ups within the force’s territory.

He knows that Deep Blue Data spans the most regions, but that is four years later; its scope hasn’t expanded yet.

”Hmm...”

’Why did I say so much?’

Mr. Shu felt a momentary daze, then furrowed his brow.

It should have sufficed to simply answer the inquiries; many were speculative; there’s no issue if left unsaid.

Seeing the old fox catch on, Su Huan no longer felt inclined to continue questioning.

These major forces appear to know a lot but are, in fact, confused.

The clues ultimately still lead back to the military.

”If you can find Yang Cunyi, perhaps you can get the answer you seek.”

Mr. Shu wasn’t angry about being coaxed but rather imparted the advice meaningfully.

”Yang Cunyi.”

Su Huan repeated the name, then asked softly.

”Does anyone else have anything to add?”

This question was directed at everyone, including Shu Wei and Yu Jing.

Yu Yue glanced around; her daughter was contemplating the corpse at Su Huan’s feet, Mountain Goat was busy replicating, and Lin Jin was hanging his head, lost in his thoughts. Not wanting Su Huan’s words to go unanswered, she hesitated briefly before whispering.

”What about other countries? Are they aware of the apocalypse?”

Mr. Shu looked at Yu Yue’s position, then at Yu Jing and his daughter, and mused, ”Other countries don’t seem to know much about the apocalypse; their preparations were very hasty. However, their apocalypse intensity was also very low, and their evolution speed was far below ours in Donghuang.”

”Three Tier Twos, is that considered slow?”

Lin Jin asked with bewilderment.

”The strength of the whole nation.”

Mr. Shu replied calmly.

Yuri from Gunfire heard this but did not deny it.

Having settled on tonight’s major findings, Su Huan turned his gaze to the two from Donghuang Heavy Industry.

”Speak, what is your ransom?”

The woman pointed to her nose in surprise, ”But we’re not here to oppose you.”

Su Huan said flatly, ”Can you run?”

”If we can’t run, then we’re just captives.”

The woman quickly said, ”We actually came to invite you to join the Donghuang Alliance.”

”I refuse the alliance; tell me something useful.”
