Armed Train in the Apocalypse

Chapter 141: Chapter 129: Spark

’Hit!’

The thick armor on the armored train caved in, and cracks appeared in the spots repeatedly struck by grenades.

The high temperature turned the soft glass inside into liquid, slowly seeping out of the crevices, but as the cold wind outside blew over it, it turned solid again.

It was like repair fluid flowing out of the train’s body.

Meanwhile, Zhang Tie and the others had already rushed into the twenty-meter range of the train, using the explosion as cover!

Drizzle was driven by the wind pressure to slant, accumulating together to form indistinct, stream-like rain veils.

Zhang Tie’s face was twisted and ferocious, and almost instantly, he locked onto Su Huan inside the carriage.

And that damned smile at the corner of his mouth!

”Zzzap—”

Without warning, a crackling arc spread madly outward from the train as the center, like a ghostly blue blanket, laid at the visitors’ feet.

”Bang!”

Zhang Tie’s raised military boot brazenly stepped into the blue domain.

With a mocking, sarcastic look in his eyes.

Su Huan’s ability had long been reported to the Steel Council, so they naturally had a countermeasure. All twenty of them wore the latest insulation material, which couldn’t be penetrated even by high voltage electricity.

But at such a close range, even the strongest bulletproof glass couldn’t withstand the sweeping fire of a light machine gun!

Raising his hand-held light machine gun, he aimed at Su Huan’s position and began to pull the trigger.

Ka—

Zhang Tie hesitated for a moment, as the expected torrent of bullets did not appear.

Jammed?

The sensation returned by the trigger to his fingers was off, what was going on!

Increasing pressure with his fingers, he heard a crack, and the trigger directly broke off.

Subconsciously lowering his head to check, his pupils abruptly contracted.

The metal firearm in his hand suddenly mutated like some monstrous creature, rapidly changing.

The handle part abruptly turned into a metal spike, viciously piercing through his palm, and then the extending metal shot directly toward his waist.

’What ability is this?!’

Feeling the bone-piercing pain in his palm, Zhang Tie’s soul nearly fled his body. Reflexively, he flung the light machine gun out of his hand.

The spikes sliced through flesh, nearly cutting both his palms off. But even with such quick reflexes, his waist still showed blood.

The metal did not fall to the ground, instead suspended mid-air, wildly sprouting numerous spikes, and stabbing toward his lethal points.

”Pop pop pop...”

Rhythmic triple shots suddenly rang out from the second-tier carriage.

Zhang Tie sharply bent down, sliding across the ground madly like an agile catfish, narrowly avoiding the brunt of the bullets.

The few that did hit only struck his bulletproof vest.

The mutation happened in an instant, and ordinary people couldn’t discern the ins and outs of it, only seeing blue light flickering, blood splattering, and irregularly rolling figures.

Even amidst evasion, Zhang Tie glanced at the teammates charging alongside him.

Black Sheep, usually fond of precision shooting, had his head pierced by an assault rifle, his expensive scope intruding from his eye socket and extending out of his occipital bone.

Another assault hand had his neck pierced by spikes extending from his weapon.

A pair of eyes awash in a pool of blood stared in his direction, bloody bubbles burbling from his mouth.

What Zhang Tie saw made his heart chill.

In that brief moment, out of the four people charging with him, two died, one was seriously injured, and one was lightly injured!

Including him, all had lost their combat capability!

Hadn’t it been for his light machine gun not needing aiming and just usable at the waist, he couldn’t have escaped the fate of being headshot by a scope either.

However fast the reflexes, who could have thought the weapon in their hands would mutate?!

”Damn! My gun is assassinating me!”

”The opponent has an evolver who can manipulate firearms, no, metal, metal!”

The seriously injured assault hand roared.

Zhang Tie suddenly realized, maintaining a distance of around two meters from the train, dodging bullets fired from the carriage, and then enduring the intense pain to throw all the metal equipment off his body.

”In such a hurry to drop equipment?”

A teasing voice came from above his head.

Zhang Tie looked up, seeing Su Huan leaning out of the second-tier carriage, dividing the world into two halves. One half was the cold, hard armored train, the other half was the overcast sky. The young man extended his head out of the carriage, breaking this balanced world, his messy hair blown by the ominous wind, with a radiant smile on his face, like Prometheus who disrupted the fixed order of the world.

Extending to him a burning—fire spear.

”Boom!”

Su Huan pulled his head back, reached to scratch the strands of hair curled by the heat on his forehead.

This hair had suffered a lot today.

Growing too long, first shot by bullets, then singed by flames.

He closed the window.

”Boom boom!”

Two delayed explosion sounds rang out, likely two grenades accidentally dropped when he leaned out to pass the fire seed being detonated.

”Tsk, sorry about that, next time I’ll definitely remember to check the pin.”

Su Huan said, looking at the armed helicopter outside the window.

Not caring whether the other side could hear or not.

Ten kilometers away, on the helicopter, Li Tao put down the binoculars in his hand, his face as gloomy as could drip water, he couldn’t hear it.

But he could see it.

He saw Zhang Tie and a few others disarmed as they approached the train, their full strength only leveraged to a fraction, then they were bombarded and massacred under the train.

That fool, arrogant and haughty as though having evolved, was directly roasted into a mummy!

Yet, no matter how foolish, he was a Tier One Evolver cultivated by the Steel Council!

Not a survivor who haphazardly evolved, but an evolved soldier selected through long-term rigorous training and selection, a future officer seed, a strong candidate to advance to Tier Two!

The talent cultivated at such cost, now wiped out like a dead dog, at the price of just a few bullets and two grenades.

Though Li Tao’s heart had sunk to the bottom, he nonetheless took out a notebook to record the performance of the armored train one by one.

Especially that metal manipulation evolver who completely countered the tactical team.

It was simply a natural nemesis to the Steel Council!

No!

More accurately, he restrained all hot weapons and hot weapon-related evolvers.

Without firearms, Zhang Tie behaved just like a slightly stronger, faster-reacting, and...more fire-resistant piece of wood.

But Li Tao and the Li Family behind him had no retreat left.

The New City Plan had already begun, with only two outcomes: either completed or shelved.

This wasn’t like those bygone projects, shelvable and re-negotiable.

The apocalypse offered no shelving, only death and failure.

”Issue new orders, change mission objective, avoid frontal combat, engage in long-range interception and harassment, with the primary aim of delaying the target from entering Changli County!”

...

Besides Li Tao, He Jie on the train also saw this scene.

The lightly injured firepower hand was sent off by one of his bursts.

After understanding Xiaoba’s ability, he finally knew how White Dog and the others died.

But witnessing a scene worse than Zhang Tie’s, even He Jie’s thick-skinned and big-hearted nature gave a three-second silence of mourning for White Dog and his team.

If they had been killed by honest weaponry, it might have been different.

Instead, their gun turned into a fire stick and even attacked them!

This was truly fucking stifling.

Last time, he too, first a collision death, then struck in the frontal lobe in the armory, later sniped like a rat being plugged to death.

Though the scenarios differed, the result was similar, stifling from start to finish.

He later carefully replayed that battle and found that Su Huan did not have many tricks, but each one was just right.

A sort of disgust akin to swallowing a fly timelessly arose.

Luckily, this time he stood on Su Huan’s side.

Even He Jie himself didn’t realize that his emotions towards Su Huan now bore a trace of ingrained fear.
