Armed Train in the Apocalypse

Chapter 137: Chapter 126: Counter-Sniping

The armed helicopter skimmed over the varied skyline, its rotors shredding the stormy winds, the great roar carrying a sense of exasperation.

Inside the helicopter, Li Tao gazed solemnly at the train below, not seeing the negotiators he had sent, and gritted his teeth, ”The predicted attack range is around three kilometers. I won’t let the helicopter get too close; we can only support you from a distance. Remember, don’t be careless!”

The soldier beside him opened the hatch, letting the fierce winds howl in.

Zhang Tie on the side puffed his cheeks, spat out his gum with a sneer, and grabbed a rope with one hand to leap outside.

He landed directly on a high-rise building.

Li Tao was clearly in no mood to deal with his attitude problem, ordering, ”Commence the attack immediately, cover the ground troops’ advance!”

As soon as he finished speaking, the rocket missiles mounted on the helicopter shot out with a shrill scream.

The next moment, a massive fireball bloomed at the front of the train. Li Tao instinctively clenched the handle, his eyes fixed on the train below.

”Screech——”

A sharp whistle sounded, the train unharmed and still slowly moving on the tracks.

Not even a dent on the body.

”What?!”

...

”Can’t hit them, can’t hit them, it’s infuriating.”

Su Huan lazily stretched.

Mr. Ma stood up, contemplating the helicopter outside the window, while in the corner, a dark gaze intently watched from beneath Xiaoba’s black hair.

Just as the rocket missiles were launched, Professor Ma and Xiaoba had both used their abilities to intercept and detonate the missiles in mid-air.

So, despite the grand explosion, it didn’t even scratch the train’s armor.

”My gravity interference didn’t have much effect.”

Suddenly said Professor Ma.

”Grandpa Ma, you should rest first.” With a motor hum, Xiaoba’s wheelchair approached the window, watching the incoming rockets with focus, ”I think I’ve found a more efficient way.”

The next second, the rockets just entering Xiaoba’s ability range were once again detonated.

The explosion wave shattered the glass of the surrounding high-rises, and the walls cracked.

”Watch out!”

Xiaoba suddenly uttered softly.

”Bang!”

A 7.62 armor-piercing bullet abruptly appeared against the train window in front of Su Huan, creating a bullet-centered stretch on the glass like a cling film, forming a hole.

The bullet hovered mid-air, seemingly frozen, with only the sound of wheels clashing against steel rails.

Beside him, Xiaoba raised a hand as sweat trickled down his temple.

Su Huan’s body brimming with energy didn’t dissipate; instead, he sidestepped slightly, chuckled softly, ”Thanks.”

”Bang!”

In the same spot, another armor-piercing bullet drilled in again.

Everyone’s hearts skipped a beat.

But due to Su Huan’s sidestep, the bullet grazed past his face, the fierce wind cutting a few strands of messy long hair.

The ricocheted bullet, deflected by an energy flow, hit the carriage’s inner wall.

Su Huan’s smiling eyes narrowed slightly, carrying a nostalgic glint.

A moving target, two shots through the same bullet hole, only one in the Steel Council could achieve this.

’My old supervisor is here...’

Su Huan’s lips curled up. He turned to He Jie, who was leaning against the ladder with his arms crossed, ”Qu Hang likes your daughter.”

He Jie was stunned for a moment, then immediately frowned and retorted, ”What nonsense are you talking about? When did he meet my daughter?”

The train conductor known to lie can’t be trusted easily.

”Really?” Su Huan tilted his head, ”Are you sure they’ve never met?”

Recalling how Su Huan previously mentioned various information about him and that near-omniscient perspective like a god, He Jie couldn’t help but wonder again, frantically searching his memory.

Though their training was mostly secluded, to maintain morale, they would bring their families over every six months.

Could it have been then?

Suddenly, He Jie slapped his thigh hard.

No wonder Qu Hang got closer to him later; it had been planned all along!

His daughter was only fifteen at the time.

Damn Qu Hang!

Su Huan, perfectly timing his remark, said, ”After that, Qu Hang grew a habit of constantly looking at a photo, could it be a new girlfriend he met during training?”

He Jie’s nostrils flared, cheeks uncontrollably twitching, growing more ferocious.

Secluded training! Fully secluded training!

He had no such habit during the first half-year, and on that island, besides their womenfolk, there wasn’t a single female! Where could he get a girlfriend?!

”Better saying, if Qu Hang helps take care of your wife and daughter, it’s better than...”

”Dammit! Shut up!”

He Jie was so angry his lips trembled.

Seeing that he stirred enough trouble, Su Huan pointed at the iron rain heavy machine gun above, ”Go on, don’t keep your old comrades waiting!”

The enraged brown bear grabbed the railing, flipping onto the train roof.

Su Huan pinched his chin, walking towards the rear carriage.

Afraid that he would burst out laughing if he stayed any longer.

The old supervisor indeed liked He Jie’s daughter, but not in a romantic way, and the photo in his chest pocket, when Su Huan saw it, was so blurred, you couldn’t tell anything except it was a woman.

The train conductor had no other hobbies, what’s wrong with telling a little lie?

The metal rain of iron rained down into the distance.

Suppressing a laugh, Su Huan’s steps suddenly halted, a bullet striking the armor only to ricochet off.

He walked again.

His pace alternated between fast and slow, each step utilizing the armor to perfectly evade the sniper rounds as if dancing to a drumbeat.

First, he went back to his room to retrieve the City Breaker electromagnetic sniper rifle, then headed for the dining car.

Things improved greatly upon entering the dining car.

The glass here was double-layered, unable to be penetrated even with 7.62 caliber bullets hitting the same spot.

Yu Yue hurried over with her sniper rifle in hand, seeing Su Huan, a relieved look washed over her face, ”We were ambushed, but my sniper rifle can’t reach his range!”

Su Huan handed the 1.8-meter anti-materiel sniper rifle to her, raising his eyebrows, ”Yours has an effective range of only 1200 meters, you’ll need this to hit him.”

...

Four infantry fighting vehicles thundered down the chaotic streets, not intending to stop even for obstructing vehicles ahead.

Zombies lurking around were shredded by the rampant firepower.

The armored personnel carrier trailing behind tore open the closed road once more.

Meanwhile, on high-rises near the tracks, snipers were long ready.

Qu Hang lay prone in a posh residential lounge, the expansive window offering a wide view.

But what he held was instead a regular precision sniper rifle.

A range of only 1000m, even 200 meters less than Yu Yue’s Screech Owl X.

Despite firing seven consecutive shots that Su Huan managed to evade, Qu Hang remained composed, steadily reloading and realigning, forsaking Su Huan in favor of a new target.

Naturally, his scope zeroed in on the machine gunner atop the train.

Upon recognizing the scruffy face, even he paused for a moment.

Various possibilities swirled in his mind, yet he reported honestly.

”He Jie is not dead.”

The four words were carried by the breeze, slipping through the shattered window into the infantry fighting vehicle below.

Within breaths, all chaotic thoughts were suppressed by his strong self-control.

Once more, He Jie filled his scope, his eyes reflecting a thin line of chill.

Now, they were enemies.

Sensing the wind’s strength outside, Qu Hang’s finger restingly on the trigger.

The next moment, an overwhelming sense of crisis engulfed him entirely, like a giant hand clutching his heart.

Hairs bristling, breath stopped!

No time for thought, he abandoned all attacks, cradling his light sniper rifle, twisting swiftly into a flip.

”Boom——”

A dark blue beam shot from the armed train three kilometers away, with no arc to its path, piercing straight into the lounge!
