Armed Train in the Apocalypse

Chapter 124: Chapter 115: Deep Blue Data

He Jie nodded in deep agreement behind them.

Su Huan: ”?”

He Jie added, ”Quite unexpected.”

Su Huan shook his head, ”This is not the end for just one of us or a part of us. Before production resumes, these resources will only become scarcer. Burning them will get us nothing.”

”But if we leave them here, maybe one day when we come back, we might still be able to use them.”

He Jie sneered, ”If you’re thinking like that, forget it. With the Steel Council here, these resources will soon be discovered. Even if the Steel Council doesn’t have the time, the passengers on your train will leak the information, and you have no control over them.”

Su Huan’s gaze remained utterly calm, ”So what if they get them, it’s merely allowing a few more people to survive. Destruction in itself is meaningless, and destroying for the sake of destruction is a waste of time. If these resources start circulating, who knows, one day they might even return to us.”

This was actually said by the train conductor.

He Jie felt his brain short-circuiting a bit and couldn’t help but light a cigarette slowly.

Wan Xing also looked down silently, with obvious shock in his eyes.

”Such good resources, and you’re thinking of burning them? You guys are really something.”

Quietly remarking, Su Huan turned and walked out.

He Jie, Wan Xing: ”...?”

Standing outside the logistics center for a while, they heard the roar of engines mixed with the sound of water tearing through the rain curtain. Looking up, a pickup truck and a fire truck drove towards the logistics center.

They stopped just outside the newly organized defensive fortifications, and three figures in black raincoats got out of the car.

In a few strides, they climbed over the trucks used for defense and came to stand in front of Su Huan.

The leading figure pulled back his hood, revealing Lu Xiao, whom Su Huan had sent out on a mission. With a wry smile on his face, he said, ”Speaking of which, Captain, can’t the rental fee for the fire truck be lowered a bit? It’s a full three points a day, and a task of mine is just ten points.”

Su Huan returned the first team leader of the train with a warm smile, ”Can’t you just get one yourself?”

Lu Xiao rolled his eyes, ”And then you charge me a parking fee, right?”

”Clear pricing, no deception.”

”I’ve brought the people you wanted, including the two logistics center tasks, totaling 30 points.”

”Don’t worry, not a single point will be missing.”

Listening to their conversation, the two people behind exchanged glances, showing slight surprise.

When Su Huan’s gaze came over, they promptly removed their hoods, revealing two faces distinctly different in style from Su Huan’s group.

With long golden hair and blue eyes, but speaking in fluent Mandarin.

”When Mr. Lu found me, I was curious what kind of force could know my location. I didn’t expect it to be such a young man. Deep Blue Data, temporary business development manager in the Acid Rain Zone, Victor Haywood.”

Looking at the young man in front of him, about thirty years old, Su Huan showed a fake smile and shook his hand.

”Armed train, Train Conductor Su Huan.”

Haywood exhibited a hint of surprise in his eyes, silently pondering these four words in his heart, and said with a smile, ”That’s quite an interesting name.”

Su Huan knew that the other party had already started comparing notes in his head.

The other’s surprise was, after all, a show for him to see.

Because Deep Blue Data is not like the Steel Council; it genuinely spans several zones, making it meaningless to deceive them with an information gap.

Furthermore, given the person’s identity in front of him, a little investigation back at headquarters would reveal there’s no powerful ”Armed Train.”

But Su Huan had no intention of hiding.

Even if they found out, so what? Would Haywood travel hundreds of miles to inform the Steel Council?

Su Huan smiled without answering and led the two into the logistics center.

As if casual chit-chat, he remarked, ”Deep Blue Data currently doesn’t have a branch in the Acid Rain Zone, right?”

Haywood stomped his foot twice, shaking off the acid rain on him, ”No plans for that yet.”

”Maybe it could be sooner.”

Haywood glanced at Su Huan, ”That’s up to the headquarters, not my responsibility. So did Mr. Su call me here to discuss a business deal?”

Su Huan pointed at the massive intelligent logistics center in front of them.

The pre-apocalyptic technology showcased in this logistics center was in full display, with workers systematically reclassifying and organizing various resources, covering them with waterproof tarps. Although many items had been moved to his train, the remaining ones were still considerable.

”This is the deal I mentioned.”

After finishing, without waiting for Haywood to ask questions, Su Huan led him past various resources, ”This is the largest logistics center in Qingchuan Province. Over here is the cold chain storage area. I’ve already had people do simple handling; the food can last about ten days, totaling around 60,000 tons, making up 15%.”

”This side is daily necessities, making up 30%.”

”These are various home appliances and furnishings, making up 25%.”

”Various scattered industrial products, making up 15%.”

”And other miscellaneous items difficult to classify, making up 10%.”

”Including three hundred robots, fifteen cross-sort lines, eighty stackers, various backup generators, fifty thousand emergency kits containing gas masks... and this entire 80,000㎡ automated logistics center, how much does Manager Haywood think it’s worth?”

Haywood vaguely understood Su Huan’s meaning. His golden eyebrows twitched, and he said truthfully, ”In this post-apocalyptic context, it’s difficult for me to put a specific number on it; it’s enough to establish a large settlement.”
