Wizard: Scamming a Demon God

Chapter 325: Chapter 237: Half a Year Later (Part 2)

Moreover, this information network didn’t just spread Isaac’s stories; it also disseminated tales of other Wizards, which served as excellent cover.

In any case, the Power of Faith required by Wizards was different from that of Deities. It wasn’t as possessive; as long as someone read the story, it would generate a corresponding amount of Power of Faith. How much they read was irrelevant.

Thus, he had already managed to condense an Authority from the story of *Snow White*: [True Love]!

This Authority stemmed from the readers’ yearning for the beautiful romance between the Prince and Snow White. Isaac, however, found their so-called love to be utterly absurd, considering the two had never even interacted before.

But that couldn’t be helped. Fairy tales were like that—they defied logic.

Fortunately, Legendary Mages didn’t need to follow logic either. Since the readers believed it was True Love, Isaac could condense the [True Love] Authority.

Of course, just as with his previous stories, Isaac could have chosen from multiple abilities, including the Wicked Queen’s Black Magic and the wondrous Little Dwarf Summoning Technique.

In the end, however, Isaac chose the Power of True Love and proactively elevated it to the level of an Authority.

The [True Love] Authority might be useless in combat, but it was incredibly useful for his advancement to Tier Four. After all, for a Legendary Mage to advance to Tier Four, they not only had to write three Legends during their time as a High-level Mage but also had to leave three Miracles behind in the world.

For this purpose, the [True Love] Authority might prove to have a wondrous effect.

Besides, the other two options weren’t particularly useful to Isaac, so he might as well take a gamble.

After all, it was a fantasy Legend from his time as a Grand Wizard. Even if the gamble failed, it was no real loss.

That’s right. *Snow White* was a creation from Isaac’s time as a Grand Wizard, and only now was it truly beginning to bear fruit...

It couldn’t be helped; Isaac was advancing along the Path of the Wizard too quickly. Furthermore, *Snow White* was a more complex work than *Cinderella*, so the Power of Faith it generated was more dispersed. Combined with the fact that the abilities of a Grand Wizard differ from those of an Official Wizard, by the time the power was ready, Isaac had already been promoted to High-level Mage.

He hadn’t yet been able to condense its corresponding ability...

Still, condensing it now wasn’t too late. Compared to other Legendary Mages, Isaac didn’t have as great a need for it. To him, this sort of thing was merely a bottleneck for his advancement speed and a source of research projects.

For instance, for the fantasy Legends of his High-level Mage stage, Isaac was no longer copying fairy tales. Instead, he chose fragments from the Cthulhu stories of his past life. He wanted to see what kind of strange magical reaction would occur along the Path of the Legendary Mage when these stories, which contained elements similar to things that existed in this world, began to spread.

At the same time, he also wanted to see what kind of stories the information network formed by the Dimension Apostles was best suited to spread.

Unfortunately, similar to the situation with *Snow White*, after he advanced to High-level Mage, the amount of Power of Faith required to condense an ability increased. Thus, he had not been able to meet the conditions for some time...

His Self-Legend, however, was ready. Even though the Divine Birth Ceremony had a very low success rate and extremely harsh conditions, its status was high enough—it involved a true Deity. This alone made it more than sufficient to serve as Isaac’s Self-Legend.

And while condensing the ability from his first Self-Legend would also take time, for Isaac, the significance of successfully writing it was far more important than the ability it would eventually grant him!

This meant that Isaac’s Anchor Point in the Real World was becoming increasingly stable. Because of the high status of the Divine Birth Ceremony, the Anchor Point it established was sufficiently powerful. Adding the boon from the world gained from the territory pioneered by the Silver Knight, he conservatively estimated he had enough to perform the ceremony five times!

However, this was only an estimate. He would have to perform it at least once to know for sure how many times he could truly do it.

After all, upon advancing to High-level Mage, the portion of power he could siphon from the Outer God had also changed. The last time, it had been used primarily on the Dimension World, so he couldn’t yet make an accurate judgment.

But this matter could not be rushed. Collecting the materials would take time, and his Wizard Organization was just getting started, so many of its members were indispensable. The Silver Knight’s land was still a genuine Pioneer Territory and couldn’t be used for a sacrifice.

Patience was something Isaac never lacked.

After sending the information on the Divine Birth Ceremony to Evans, Isaac went to Soron’s laboratory to review his recent research reports while he waited for a reply.

After a long moment, Isaac stared at Soron in astonishment. ’Making a goblin into a Goblin Slayer...’

’This guy is a true talent!’

’The key is, he actually succeeded!’

’It’s just...’

”Don’t do this. It’s too dangerous. Just kill goblins normally. Not every shortcut is worth taking,” Isaac said, reaching out with a helpless expression to point at a line in the research report: ”after converting Goblin Slayers into Dimension Apostles, have them kill each other to infinitely increase their power.”

Theoretically, this was temporarily feasible. After being converted into a Dimension Apostle, a goblin’s life form wouldn’t change right away; at least, the time required for such a change was, from Isaac’s perspective, extremely long.

And as long as what it killed were still goblins, the Goblin Slayer’s power could continue to increase.

But...

Both Goblin Slayers and goblins were the Creations of a Great Wizard. Isaac couldn’t be sure if this kind of circular, self-perpetuating exploit—like the left foot stepping on the right—would anger that Existence.

The other parts of the research were fine, though. Goblins were meant to be killed, and Goblin Slayers existed to kill goblins. As for who or what a Goblin Slayer was, that wasn’t a major issue.

At the very least, if that being had forbidden it, a goblin could never have become a Goblin Slayer in the first place. Isaac refused to believe a Great Wizard would allow such a loophole in their own design.

So, on the whole, Soron’s research was a great success. It was just that, as a Self-Legend, this whole thing was a little...

[First of the Ten Rings: Goblin Slayer]: A Relic born from the Self-Legend of Soron Demon Eye. It can summon Goblin Slayers who have signed a contract with it. The more Goblin Slayers under contract, the lower the cost and the faster the Summoning. Additionally, the growth cap for the Ability Values of all contracted Goblin Slayers will be pegged to Soron Demon Eye’s current Level.

*HSSSS*—

Looking at the green ring floating before him, Isaac couldn’t help but draw in a sharp breath. ’This thing... it’s absolutely broken!’

To be honest, the Goblin Slayer profession was easy to enter, easy to advance in, and ridiculously easy to find employment for. Aside from its extremely low power ceiling, it was practically perfect in every way.

But in a High Magic World like this, its low ceiling meant the profession was destined to never truly shine.

But now, things were different.

Soron’s Relic had granted the Goblin Slayer profession a truly near-infinite potential!

It had turned them into a profession akin to players in a game. The only fly in the ointment was that while goblins were numerous, their individual strength was absolute garbage, which would make leveling up extremely difficult later on.

However, that still didn’t detract from the Relic’s value.

Its greatest value wasn’t in providing Soron with a mob of underlings, but in raising the ceiling of the Goblin Slayer profession. Although there were conditions, it was a tangible increase, which in turn greatly strengthened the Anchor Point Soron left in the Real World.

It achieved the primary goal of his research.

The only downside was...

Isaac glanced at Soron with a hint of pity. This Relic was the poor guy’s Self-Legend. In other words, his own power had just been boosted, which meant he’d hit his new ceiling...

Which meant that next, Soron had to start working on establishing another Anchor Point...

”Keep up the good work. You’re far more brilliant than I imagined.” With a gentle wave of his right hand, Isaac sent the green ring floating into the black mist beneath Soron’s Wizard Robe.

”!!!” Upon receiving Isaac’s praise, Soron became too excited to speak. He could only bob the green Demon Eye floating in the black mist again and again, frantically expressing his absolute delight.
