Wizard: Scamming a Demon God

Chapter 312: Chapter 231: The 3-eyed Goblin’s Ambition

Thanks to the fearless assault of the Dimension Apostles and Deceitful Wood Goblins, the canyon was swiftly cleared.

The Saint Master glanced at the giant, three-eyed Deceitful Wood Goblin. The Three-eyed Goblin’s hoarse words suddenly replayed in his mind—that other Apostle’s use of the Demon Eye was far too crude.

’Those words...’

’He really wasn’t wrong...’

’The same kind of Demon Eye, yet in the hands of the Three-eyed Goblin... The eye wasn’t even on its own body. Instead, it was installed on a giant, mindless three-eyed Deceitful Wood Goblin. And just by controlling it indirectly, it could unleash such devastating power...’

Granted, that particular Demon Eye was just an ordinary type that released Magic Power, with few operational techniques to speak of.

But it was often the simplest things that truly revealed one’s skill.

After all, both the Three-eyed Goblin and that other fellow were Dimension Apostles. Theoretically, the Dimensional Magic Power they could command was equally infinite, yet the Three-eyed Goblin managed to mobilize far more of it.

After a brief moment of reflection, the Saint Master refocused on the battlefield. The real War was only just beginning.

Having cleared the area of Demons, a dark gleam of Magic Power flashed in the Saint Master’s hand, and the Infinite Expansion Decree, resembling an old roll of parchment, materialized within it.

The Saint Master gently unfurled the parchment. An invisible ripple immediately spread out from him, quickly enveloping the entire canyon.

For a fleeting moment, it seemed as if heaven and earth fell silent. In that instant, the Chaos Magic Power in the air vanished without a trace, leaving only serene, ordinary Magic Power in its place.

Meanwhile, an intangible boon descended upon Isaac, who was engrossed in his research.

This was partly because the Infinite Expansion Decree belonged to Isaac, and partly because the Saint Master and the Dimension Apostles clearing this Wilderness were, in fact, his subordinates under his direct authority.

Naturally, this reward for pioneering fell to Isaac.

This was also why many a Kingdom, despite knowing that pioneering Nobility could easily grow strong and cause them trouble once they established a foothold, still issued Pioneer Orders. The benefits of taming the Wilderness were simply too great, and issuing a Pioneer Order was the safest way to reap the rewards.

At least, it was safe for the first few years after issuance.

Of course, this did not apply to the Infinite Expansion Decree, which did not grant any rewards to its issuer.

Upon receiving the boon, however, Isaac merely lifted his head, cast a thoughtful glance in the Saint Master’s direction, and then returned to his research.

’That patch of land is too small. It’s not enough to trade for what I need yet.’

Meanwhile, the Saint Master and his forces weren’t celebrating their momentary victory. The real battle was only just beginning!

The very instant the Chaos Magic Power within the canyon transformed into ordinary Magic Power, the surrounding atmosphere seemed to freeze. An endless, overwhelming malice surged in from all sides!

’This is...’

The malice of the Wilderness!

Mixed within this endless malice was a chilling killing intent, emanating from the Demons and Half-Orcs outside the canyon. They would soon charge in fearlessly, determined to tear the Saint Master, holder of the Infinite Expansion Decree, to shreds!

The mission for the Saint Master and his forces was to hold their ground against these successive assaults while simultaneously continuing to expand outward, claiming more of the Wilderness!

Until they had claimed enough to satisfy Isaac’s demands.

”GYEHEHE!”

The moment the malice and killing intent struck, the Demon Eye on the Three-eyed Goblin’s brow narrowed. It let out another wicked howl, and at its command, the Deceitful Wood Goblins instantly wheeled around and charged out of the canyon!

Simultaneously, a series of dark rifts tore open beside the Three-eyed Goblin. Figures emanating a bizarre Magic Power stepped forth—they were the Dimension Apostles who had just been killed by the Demons in the canyon.

Of course, this included the unlucky bastard who had died at the hands of the Three-eyed Goblin.

He emerged from the dark rift and shot a venomous glare from all three of his eyes at the Three-eyed Goblin, but said nothing. For one, they all possessed an Undying Body, meaning there were few ways they could truly act against each other.

For another, he wasn’t an idiot. The Three-eyed Goblin, despite its humble origins, was incredibly diligent, especially in its research. It had not only created all sorts of strange goblins, but its abilities had also earned the recognition of the Master of Dimensions, Isaac. He had even been gifted a weapon that Isaac himself once used.

He was, without a doubt, one of Isaac’s favorites.

’Of course, the more important reason is...’

’...I can’t beat him.’

So, he merely shot the Three-eyed Goblin one last glare before departing swiftly, not daring to linger for even a moment.

He was terrified that the Three-eyed Goblin would use him as material again to create another giant three-eyed Deceitful Wood Goblin. He had no doubt the goblin was capable of it, and he was equally certain that His Majesty, the Master of Dimensions, wouldn’t concern himself with such trivialities.

’Even if he found out, he’d probably just praise the Three-eyed Goblin for a job well done. Because, as much as I hate to admit it, this Demon Eye on my forehead is far more useful in its hands...’

’In a situation like this, my Undying trait just makes me the perfect expendable resource!’

That was why he had left in such a hurry.

The Three-eyed Goblin watched the direction the three-eyed brute had fled and sighed with regret. ’To be honest, the thought did cross my mind,’ it mused. It had only been a fleeting idea, however, one it hadn’t acted upon.
