Warlock Apprentice

Chapter 3041: Chapter 3042: The Little Mole

The magical creatures completely made of mud sculptures, Angel had only seen in the publication ”Where Are The Enchanted Beasts,” and this was his first time seeing them in reality.

According to the book, mud puppet demons resemble elemental sprites in both form and essence.

In fact, that’s true; just by looking with the naked eye, it’s hard to separate mud puppet demons from earth element sprites. Only by ”observing its spirit,” using spiritual power to explore its energy ether body, can one distinguish them from elemental creatures.

Although mud puppet demons have no direct relation to elemental creatures, it is said that mud puppet demons are creations of a certain earth deity. And this earth deity is itself an elemental creature.

Of course, this is just a rumor. Is it true? At least, Angel cannot be certain.

However, elemental creatures calling themselves deities are not uncommon in the Pan-Dimensional Plane. For example, in the flame-derived civilization world — Chen Chi World, there exist highly aggressive evil fire deities. These evil fire deities, in essence, also belong to elemental creatures.

Back to the point, the rarity of mud puppet demons is mainly because their large settlements are in the Otherworld. In the Wizards’ Realm, only a few organizations raise mud puppet demons to provide earth apprentices with bloodline options.

So, in addition to the Shallow Sea Strongmen, another group of Otherworldly Visitors has appeared?

The people attacking Bilun Tree Court and those who kidnapped the residents of Paradise Land, could they really be from the Otherworld? Or are they the vanguard of a great figure from another dimension probing into the Wizards’ Realm?

These thoughts flashed through Angel’s mind.

It’s not that he didn’t want to delve deeper into thinking about this matter, but because he hasn’t yet truly seen the attackers, thinking about these things is meaningless.

As Angel pondered, new changes occurred on Dox’s side.

Dox, who had been on passive defense for a long time, finally began to attack the mud puppet demons.

However, Dox did not use large-scale moves; instead, he attacked one by one. Although not going all out, he could still knockout one small puppet with each punch.

The mud puppet settlements looked vast but actually numbered only about a hundred, though some mud puppet demons were large in size, which created an imposing presence when united.

Dox easily dealt with more than half of the mud puppet demons. He did not kill them but knocked them out and threw them aside.

The remaining mud puppet demons were mostly small-sized. Without large mud puppets to hold the line, even the passage seemed much smoother.

These small mud puppets were not frightened by Dox’s might; instead, they became more enraged, jumping at him one after another, baring their teeth. Even knowing that they are outmatched, they still want to leave some mark on Dox.

However, Dox was undeterred by the large mud puppets, let alone these smaller ones.

He was too lazy to even care about them, only flicking away those that crawled on his face or directly bumped into his hand, leaving the rest to gnaw away.

The battle had essentially come to an end.

In Benson and Kaier’s view, a suspenseful battle ended with Dox dismissively resolving it.

It wasn’t that their vision was lacking; rather, the overall strength of the mud puppet demons was too disparate, and without a royal mud puppet to command the fight, mere rabble united in momentum would be unlikely to crush a Bloodline Wizard like Dox who fought through mountains of corpses and seas of blood.

Dox, adorned with a bunch of mud puppet accessories, walked in the direction of Angel and the others.

”How long do you plan to carry them?” Angel asked, pointing to the mud puppets still gnawing at Dox.

Dox shrugged, looking innocent, ”That depends on that guy’s patience.”

”Who is ’that guy’?” Kaier poked his head out from the illusion technique, curiously examining the mud puppet ornaments on Dox, wondering who he was referring to.

Angel knew who it was; Dox had given some hints, but Angel didn’t speak up as he knew who ’that guy’ was pointing to, yet he was still unaware of the true identity of the other.

”Look at these mud puppet demons hanging on me; is there one with strangely unique behavior?” Dox asked Kaier, displaying the mud puppets on himself.

Strangely unique behavior?

Kaier instinctively used a spiritual power perspective to observe these mud puppet ornaments. Upon examination, he indeed found a mud puppet demon that was quite distinct.

”You’ve discovered it, haven’t you? That’s right, the ’that guy’ I was referring to is the mud puppet demon you see now.”

Dox lowered his voice, speaking in a detective-like tone, assured as if solving a case, ”Right, the mud puppet demon pretending to attack me but didn’t dare harm me at all?”

After his words fell, he received no response, and the air was silent.

The mud puppet demons continued gnawing away at him... However, among them, there was indeed a mud puppet demon pretending to attack Dox that slowly stopped its action.

Seeing the other not respond, Dox continued, ”Or perhaps, should I refer to you as Mister Mole? Or Miss Mole?”

The only mud puppet demon not attacking Dox turned out to be a grayish little mole.

It was just palm-sized, hanging near Dox’s right elbow.

Previously, it had always kept its mouth open as if biting Dox’s skin, but in reality, it didn’t truly bite, just performing an act.

If Dox hadn’t pointed it out, the little mole mixed in with other genuinely ”angry” mud puppet demons could easily be overlooked.

The air was silent for over ten seconds until a voice that couldn’t be discerned as male or female came from the little mole’s mouth.

”How did you find me?”

Dox: ”As unique as you are, do you think I wouldn’t notice?”

The little mole snorted coldly, ”I wasn’t asking about now. Earlier, I felt something was off. Why did you move right into the mud puppet demons’ attacks? I suppose you noticed me early on?”

Currently, it was normal to be exposed. After all, amidst the obviously attacking mud puppet demons, it was strange for it not to attack. As Dox said, it was unique.

Previously, it remained hidden among the mud puppet demons, confident that it hid well, hence its inability to understand how Dox noticed it?

”Is discovering you that difficult?” Dox answered with another question.

Of course, it is difficult! The little mole internally screamed, as it completely integrated its divine thought into the mud puppet demon; even Aex found it hard to locate! Thus, its immense shock when Dox found it.

However, it didn’t reveal its inner emotions but simply said, ”Let me down first.”

Dox: ”No.”

”You!” The little mole raised its head angrily, glaring at Dox.

Dox tilted his head, ”Would you really not jump down yourself? You managed to jump up, surely you can jump down, why need my help?”

”Or are you still planning to play tricks... wanting me to attack you first?”

Upon hearing Dox’s words, the mole showed no visible change outside, but internally its thoughts were raging.

This wizard, not only detected its position but even saw through its intentions?

Indeed, it did all this, including acting as if to attack Dox, hoping Dox would initiate the attack, just needing one hit.

But the other party actually knows its purpose?

Mind reading? Or prophecy?

It should be prophecy, right?

The little mole recalled various details from before and increasingly felt that this guess was correct.

This is definitely a Prophet Wizard!

Just like Aex, who seems to have a strong bloodline aura, making it seem like a Bloodline Wizard, is actually a Mysterious Side Wizard!

Why does it think so, because Dox didn’t make a move from the start!

Usually, a wizard facing a surging wave of magical creatures, even if they don’t attack, should at least dodge. But Dox was different; he neither dodged nor attacked the Mud Puppet Demon. The other party clearly discerned from the beginning that: attacking the Mud Puppet Demon might accidentally hit it.

After that, as Dox moved through the Mud Puppet Demon, he was locking in on its position.

Once he locked onto its location, Dox began the cleansing operation.

And for other wizards to clear away Mud Puppet Demons, it would definitely be a large smash, unlike Dox, who targeted them one by one, afraid that the area damage might affect something it shouldn’t affect.

He absolutely intended to restrain the damage.

There’s also another proof; he didn’t even activate his passive defense spiritual power shield. Because he knew very well that the spiritual power shield has the capability of defensive retaliation. If other Mud Puppet Demons attacked the shield and it retaliated against it, it would count as Dox actively attacking it.

Similarly, he suppressed the use of pressure, externalized blood and energy, and other abilities that cause passive damage. Dox didn’t employ any of them.

Now, even when it tries to incite the other party with words, as long as the other party proactively drops it, it falling from a high place or a slight force from the other’s elbow can ”passively” injure it, which also counts as an active attack.

Yet he could still discover it!

This indicates that from the start, he knew its purpose and consistently saw through its next moves.

Aside from a Prophet Wizard, it couldn’t think of any other ability capable of achieving this level.

”Encountering a Prophet Wizard, what bad luck.” The little mole glared at Dox with a bit of resentment.

Dox touched his chin and didn’t deny it.

The little mole jumped off Dox’s elbow on its own because it fell voluntarily, so even if it got injured, it couldn’t be considered harm caused by Dox’s intent.

As long as Dox doesn’t cause harm intentionally, the contract can’t be fulfilled.

After dropping down, the little mole glanced at Angel, a hint of unclear emotion flashing in its eyes: ”A Prophet Wizard, a Space Wizard... are you from the Birlos Family?”

Angel and Dox exchanged a glance and remained silent.

The little mole’s assertive tone truly left them speechless... they couldn’t possibly tell it, you’ve got it all wrong, there’s no Prophet Wizard, nor a Space Wizard.

There is a Space Series, but it’s still an apprentice.

Though, Angel could also guess that the little mole is probably that wizard who arranged the space sealing, so it should also tell that Kaier is a Space Apprentice.

It’s estimated that in the little mole’s mind, it has already considered Kaier as its apprentice. After all, a Space Wizard with a Space Apprentice is a typical master-apprentice combination.

”You can find me, but if you don’t join the game, there’s no way to deal with me. And once you do, you’ll inevitably join the game.” The little mole looked at Angel and Dox: ”So, if you want revenge, come. I’ll be waiting for you at the ’Earth Cavern Arena’...”

After speaking, the little mole rolled its eyes and passed out.

Dox crouched beside the little mole to observe for a while and said softly, ”That guy’s consciousness has already fled... I can’t stop it.”

Angel wasn’t surprised by this, after all, the entity attached to the mole puppet was that Space Wizard. In other locations, there might be ways to stop it, but here, in its own space sealing, it’s too easy for it to mobilize the spatial ability to escape.

Moreover, it abandoned the mole puppet’s body and simply used divine thought to escape, making it even harder to guard against.

Stopping it is normal.

Even if they had stopped it, it might have been considered an ”active attack.”

Angel: ”It doesn’t matter. It wasn’t our target anyway.”

After a pause, Angel asked: ”It kept mentioning ’active attack.’ Did it want you to attack it actively? Why?”

Dox brushed off the remaining mud puppet shards from his body and said: ”The contract, it wanted to pull us into the game. As long as we attacked it forcefully, it equaled signing the contract.”

Angel: ”Then, does that mean it not attacking you is part of the contract too?”

Dox nodded: ”Even a forced contract must adhere to the basic rules. If it attacked me first, then my counterattack would be justified. Thus, it doesn’t conform to the contract logic.”

Angel could comprehend this point too.

However, Angel still didn’t quite understand: ”How did you realize it wanted you to attack it actively, to enter into a contract?”

Proudly, Dox pointed to his ear: ”How else? I obviously heard it.”

”Another rule of the contract is that both parties must hear the contract’s contents. And this hearing is not about me understanding the contract’s contents.”

”As long as I’m within the contract’s range, if the other party murmurs normally, it counts. If during this process a louder noise covers up the contract’s murmur but I’m still within the range, it still counts as ’hearing’ the contract.”

”That guy was softly murmuring the contract amidst the Mud Puppet Demon’s roars, hoping to use those roars to mask its murmuring sounds.”

”At that moment, I used a sensory balance technique to enhance my hearing, and sure enough, I heard its murmur.”

As Dox explained this, Angel roughly understood.

The rules of the contract must be detailed, so Dox heard the contract’s entire content at the time; simultaneously, he also discovered the little mole’s location.

After listening to the opponent recite the contract content, only then did Dox clean up the mud puppet group one by one.

The logic behind it seemed smooth.

The sole inconsistency was how Dox knew to listen for the opponent’s voice and why he didn’t attack the Mud Puppet Demon?

The little mole interpreted the answers to these two questions as: divination.

However, the reality was completely unrelated to prophecy. This was Dox’s unique intuition talent, which, in terms of effect, in some aspects, even surpasses prophecy.

At least, divination needs to adhere to the knowledge systems of information collection and interpretation.

Whereas Dox’s intuition is the true ”occult” study.
