Warlock Apprentice

Chapter 2479: Chapter 2480: Collaborator

”Speaking of gratitude, your eyes sure lit up! You claim not to understand human speech, but I bet human language is a level above dog language, isn’t it?”

”Wang Wang?” The Dalmatian immediately dimmed its bright eyes, reverting to an innocent and pitiful look.

”You sly dog.”

Angel playfully scolded while rubbing the Dalmatian’s head. To him, it seemed perfectly normal, but Wang Wang, watching from the side, was utterly astonished.

The Dalmatian is... a respectable one.

How could it allow its head to be patted so casually?

If the Observer and others were here, they would likely have a similar expression to Wang Wang.

The Dalmatian’s reaction also rendered Wang Wang silent. The Dalmatian had no sense of dignity as a powerful being, but instead leaned into Angel’s hand, and was soon cradled in Angel’s arms, amidst his laughter.

The Dalmatian contentedly found a comfortable spot in Angel’s embrace. Unfazed, Angel continued to pet someone else’s dog, chatting away to himself, ”The mystery game is over, we’ve found the tool dog to leave, so the escape route...”

The Dalmatian seemed to understand Angel’s words and prepared to open its big mouth to swallow Angel whole.

However, Angel quickly said, ”Hold on, I’m not ready to leave yet.”

Given Angel’s understanding of the Dalmatian, the escape route probably involved being swallowed once more.

If it were in the belly of another creature, Angel would be eager to leave, but since it’s in the Dalmatian’s stomach, and the Dalmatian’s avatar was in his embrace, he felt no need to depart immediately.

He still had some matters to address.

As Angel pondered this, he looked down at the floor.

The entire room was enveloped in darkness, except for the floor, which was completely transparent. It resembled a transparent light screen, allowing a clear view of the movements within a pure white chamber below.

Undoubtedly, the real size of the pure white chamber was much larger than this cramped black room. Yet from the transparent floor, the pure white chamber seemed like a miniaturized house, and the people inside appeared like miniature dolls.

Their every movement was visible in detail.

Angel could clearly see in the center of the pure white chamber, a golden, mesh-like fruit floating in the air. This must be the Mysterious Fruit.

About twenty or thirty meters near the fruit were Gluz Deward’s avatar and Polo Ye.

Polo Ye looked rather miserable. Originally with eight tentacles, it now had seven. The fate of the missing one was evident from the crimson stain on the floor.

Gluz Deward seemed unaffected, except for his furrowed brow, as he resisted the attraction and contemplated ways to escape, appearing somewhat agitated.

If this situation continued, it wouldn’t be long before the two became exhausted and empty. That’s when it would be Wang Wang’s turn to make an appearance.

Angel merely glanced at the two without lingering. His purpose for staying wasn’t for them.

It was for the Observer.

After all, the Observer had helped Angel before, and being swallowed by the Dalmatian this time was purely collateral damage. So, if possible, Angel hoped to release the Observer.

After searching around the center, Angel finally found the Observer, looking bitter but in much better shape than Gluz Deward and Polo Ye, in a corner of the edge.

”He was kicked to the edge at the beginning, where the traction and attraction are weaker.” Perhaps noticing Angel focusing on the Observer, Wang Wang explained, ”Earlier, he even walked around the four walls of the chamber, seemingly searching for an exit. It looks like he’s given up now.”

Angel: ”Do you know who he is?”

Wang Wang shook his head.

Angel briefly explained the Observer’s identity and made it clear that the Observer had little connection with Gluz Deward or Polo Ye.

Wang Wang pondered for a moment and asked, ”Do you plan to let him out, sir?”

Angel initially intended to nod, letting the Observer leave was his goal. However, looking at Wang Wang’s bewildered eyes—Wang Wang’s eyes were usually hard to see, but ever since becoming ”Golden Wang Wang,” they were very noticeable—Angel suddenly had another idea.

”The Observer doesn’t have much to do with Phantom Spirit City, so he can indeed be released,” Angel said, then suddenly changed the subject, ”But simply releasing him is also a loss for you.”

A loss for me? Wang Wang looked confused, its already perplexed eyes now filled with doubt.

”Before discussing the Observer, what’s your plan for those two?” Angel asked while petting the dog, gesturing toward Gluz Deward and Polo Ye with his finger.

Wang Wang asked somewhat skeptically, ”Didn’t I mention it before?”

”You mean just wearing them out, draining their vigor, then interrogating them?” Angel replied.

Wang Wang nodded.

Angel: ”I’m not sure if Polo Ye would talk, but Gluz Deward, a giant in his field, even as an avatar, after wearing down his willpower, you’d still find it hard to get anything out of him.”

Back in the Void, Angel thought of criticizing this plan, but as he was more concerned with the golden blood and the Dalmatian, he held back. Now, he finally had the chance to speak his mind.

”Moreover, even if you do get information about your kin, do you have a rescue plan? Just a prisoner exchange? Aren’t you afraid of getting yourself captured instead?”

”Or are you planning to trouble your respected one again?” Angel remarked while petting the Dalmatian again, enjoying the soft fur of the puppy.

Wang Wang: ”Plans can be made later, taking one step at a time; the people are already in our hands, after all.”

”I’m just worried you won’t come up with a good plan.” Angel: ”Not to discourage you, but you lack knowledge about humans, wizards, and the Origin World. You are intelligent, but you lack vision and scope.”

”And to formulate a comprehensive plan, especially one related to Phantom Spirit City, if you lack vision and scope, how will you accomplish it?”

If Wang Wang were the Dalmatian, it would be simpler, relying on brute force to save people. But Wang Wang’s strength is pitiful; besides its ability to run away, its combat power can’t even compare to an Official Wizard, so to rescue someone without the Dalmatian’s help, it can only rely on a flawless plan and intelligence.

”How should I seize victory with intelligence?” Although Wang Wang felt discouraged by Angel’s words, it understood that Angel spoke the truth.

Being halfway along the path, Wang Wang thought exchanging prisoners could retrieve its companions, but reality is harsh; without strength, it couldn’t even barter for prisoners, and it might end up a captive itself.

Its respected one had already helped it once, and it felt embarrassed to seek help again.

Thus, Wang Wang could only cast hopeful eyes toward the only human present it knew and trusted—Angel.

Angel noticed Wang Wang’s hopeful gaze but simply avoided it.

”Don’t count on me; we’re in similar situations. I only know about Gluz Deward’s identity and have heard of Phantom Spirit City. Beyond that, I know nothing.”

Angel’s knowledge of the Origin World was purely theoretical without firsthand experience, hence lacking authority to speak on the matter.

Most importantly, if Angel aided Wang Wang, he feared the outcome would be akin to sending himself packaged as a gift, considering Gluz Deward explicitly pointed him out.

”Then what do we do?” Wang Wang was left utterly perplexed.

”It’s simple, you can seek cooperation with an influential and experienced human.” Angel paused and pointed at the Observer below the pure white chamber: ”For example, the Observer.”

Given Wang Wang’s current perspective and experience, if it formulated the plan itself, there would undoubtedly be many loopholes.

Even after signing strict vows with Polo Ye and Gluz Deward, there might still be flaws that could trap Wang Wang.

Therefore, the best way to avoid this situation is to find a collaborator of the same level and broad vision.

This collaborator doesn’t necessarily have to participate in the plan and invite trouble.

But they can help Wang Wang devise a plan so it doesn’t make a futile effort.

Angel can’t be this collaborator because his perspective and experience are insufficient. Currently, only the Observer can help Wang Wang.

Moreover, the Observer is now also trapped in the pure white chamber. Although he was innocently involved, he doesn’t know it himself. Wang Wang might use this opportunity to cooperate with the Observer.

Most importantly, the Dalmatian is here too, so Wang Wang can borrow its presence to exert influence for a while. The Observer might agree due to the Dalmatian.

After all, it’s just offering advice to Wang Wang, not executing the plan itself. This purely strategic contribution doesn’t cost the Observer much.

Additionally, from the Observer’s perspective, being able to leave the pure white chamber and possibly gain the friendship of Wang Wang and the Dalmatian, he is highly likely to agree.

After hearing Angel’s words, Wang Wang pondered for a moment and nodded in agreement.

However, Wang Wang hopes Angel can help speak to the Observer on its behalf. It doesn’t want others to know about its uniqueness.

Angel thought for a moment and agreed.

Indeed, Wang Wang’s identity is very special; its uniqueness lies not only in its wisdom but also in its Void network, high-dimensional travel, and high-altitude existence. Any of its abilities being exposed could cause a sensation in the Origin World, even if Angel considers the Observer a principled wizard. Facing a being like Wang Wang might break his principles.

So, let the Observer only think of Wang Wang as a wise Void Traveler with a bit of tribal friendliness.

As for the rest, let’s forget about it.

”I can communicate with him for you, but how should we communicate now? Go to the chamber below?” Angel asked.

Angel’s words were directed at Wang Wang, but his eyes were looking at the Dalmatian.

After all, the pure white chamber was created by the Dalmatian.

But the Dalmatian still looked at him with innocent eyes and softly barked, ”Wang Wang Wang.”

At this time, Wang Wang said: ”I can open a passage to the pure white chamber.”

Through Angel’s understanding, it turned out the Dalmatian, after creating the pure white chamber and placing the Mysterious Fruit inside, transferred the chamber’s authority to Wang Wang.

Wang Wang can open a passage at any place within the pure white chamber, which also facilitates Wang Wang’s subsequent ”interrogation” of Gluz Deward and others.

Wang Wang: ”Should we go inside?”

Angel thought for a moment and shook his head: ”Since a passage can be opened at any location, let’s open one beneath the Observer, connecting here. To show sincerity, I’ll speak to him right here.”

Wang Wang nodded: ”Shall we open it now?”

Angel was about to nod but suddenly remembered something: ”Wait a minute. Can he use his abilities in this room?”

If the Observer secretly used twisted laws during the conversation, unexpected issues could arise. Although this possibility is small, the Observer should not be that kind of person. But there is some risk, so Angel brought it up.

Angel feels he can use abilities here, so the Observer should be able to as well.

Wang Wang was also taken aback, not knowing the answer.

The answer is only known to the Dalmatian.

Angel and Wang Wang both looked at the Dalmatian, but it still showed a confused face, ”Wang Wang Wang?”

Although the Dalmatian acted confused and innocent, as its barking subsided, Angel noticed the surrounding energy became silent.

This place has also turned into an Arcane Nullification space.

However, it wasn’t completely nullified; Angel found that his green pattern ability and Nightmare Illusion ability could still be used.

Presumably, this was the Dalmatian’s backdoor.

Well done! Angel secretly gave a thumbs up to the Dalmatian.

Now that the black room is similar to the pure white chamber, they can confidently let the Observer come over.

...

At this moment, inside the pure white chamber.

The Observer’s face was full of bitterness, deeply conflicted.

Should he go to the center to see? Maybe the exit is there?

But if the exit is really at the center, Gluz Deward and the others should have been able to leave long ago, why keep struggling there?

The Observer truly doesn’t know what to do now.

It’s a completely sealed chamber, unable to transmit messages, the exit unknown, with the threat of the Mysterious Fruit. Even if he’s fine now, who knows about future situations?

As the Observer frustratingly scratched his head, he suddenly felt a slight movement beneath his feet.

The Observer looked down in surprise.

His feet were originally on a white floor, but something happened, and a small piece of the white floor slowly turned into nothingness, eventually becoming a pitch-black hole.

What’s going on?

The Observer, confused, slowly reached out and touched the floor; it was indeed a hole.

He just doesn’t know where it leads.

Is this the exit? The Observer doesn’t know.

However, he decided to take a look. It’s better than staying in this pure white chamber, perhaps?

The Observer didn’t care anymore; after all, he’s in the Dalmatian’s belly, going anywhere is a trip. He’s had enough of this chamber, now a hole has appeared here, so jump in.

With this thought, the Observer, without hesitation, leaned forward and jumped into the hole.

As the Observer’s figure disappeared, the pitch-black hole slowly reverted to the pure white floor...
