Chapter 2467: Chapter 2468: Drowning Puppy

Polo Ye followed the Observer’s gaze, seeing nothing with the naked eye, but when it activated its energy vision, a... strange creature appeared before it.

Strange, but not really.

Overall, it was a transparent, limp creature, resembling a slime monster.

Polo Ye had seen this kind of creature before, known as a Void Traveler. They are void creatures, weak and timid, with no special abilities, just fast, and very rare.

The Phantom Spirit City actually had a Void Traveler that the City Lord had captured.

It had a poor impression of the Void Traveler, considering them as fools, with no wisdom, weak in power, and did not understand why the City Lord liked to study them so much, even creating a special lab to prevent their escape.

In Polo Ye’s view, any creature that stole the City Lord’s attention was not a good creature.

The Void Traveler was no exception.

However, this Void Traveler looked different from the one in the Phantom Spirit City because... it was fat and big.

Normal Void Travelers were more or less the same size, but this one seemed mutated. The difference was like that between a dwarf and a giant.

But, no matter how big it got, it was still a weak and timid Void Traveler, not worth Polo Ye’s attention.

The reason Polo Ye’s expression was strange was not because of this larger Void Traveler in front of it.

Rather, there was a... dog? floating inside its transparent belly, like a water ball.

It was a very ordinary-looking Dalmatian puppy, not much bigger than an adult, looking very panicked, frantically ”dog paddling” inside the Void Traveler, trying to leave its belly.

However, no matter how much the little Dalmatian swam, it couldn’t move.

In despair, its eyes rolled back, head tilted to the side, short and stubby limbs unconsciously spread out, seemingly... fainted from drowning.

But it didn’t stay drowned for long; it seemed to awaken quickly, paddled a few more times, then continued to faint.

Thus, this little Dalmatian repeatedly woke up, then fainted from drowning before their eyes, a never-changing cycle.

”Shura?” What’s going on?

The Observer looked puzzled, wondering what was being performed here.

”Why did a Void Traveler come out of the Space Rift? Moreover, this Void Traveler is quite...” Polo Ye pondered for a long time before blurting out the word: ”quite fashionable; it even keeps a pet.”

”Is this dog a pet?” the Observer subconsciously responded.

”Shura? If it’s not a pet, what do you think it is, a Void Behemoth?” Polo Ye replied irritably. Initially, it wondered if it might be a special creature, but after carefully perceiving, it found it was just an ordinary puppy, not knowing from which world the Void Traveler had abducted it.

The Observer thought it made sense; Void Travelers are generally very weak... Um, this Void Traveler seemed relatively larger, but its aura determined everything; with his vision, he clearly knew the level of strength this Void Traveler had.

A dog that could be stored in a Void Traveler’s belly couldn’t possibly be powerful. Polo Ye was probably right; it might have abducted it... But could it be a pet? Hard to say, perhaps it was just spare food or a toy.

With these thoughts, both the Observer and Polo Ye stopped paying attention to the little drama queen puppy performing ”life and death,” instead focusing on the Void Traveler.

”Why is this Void Traveler here? How did it locate this place? What’s its purpose for coming here?”

Polo Ye asked while extending a tentacle, trying to pull the Void Traveler over.

But the Void Traveler was very cautious and quickly zipped behind Angel.

Seeing Polo Ye about to reach Angel, the Observer sighed and intercepted its tentacle.

Although the Observer thought Angel must be awake at this point, since he was still performing ”comprehension,” he couldn’t expose him, so he had to intercept.

However, the fact that this Void Traveler chose to cleverly hide behind Angel subtly indicated some kind of connection between it and Angel.

This point was noticed not only by the Observer but also by Polo Ye.

Polo Ye showed a look of realization: ”Shura! It seems my first two questions have answers; this Void Traveler is likely linked to him. Located here through him, it came.”

”But why did it come here at this time, and what’s its purpose?”

The Observer didn’t understand either, but he still spoke for Angel: ”Perhaps it’s just a coincidence.”

”Coincidence? Shura~ Do you think I would believe that?”

The Observer himself didn’t believe it because he had seen Angel previously had a Void Traveler he called ”Heideland,” and now another Void Traveler appeared, surely called by Angel.

The only question was why Angel would call a Void Traveler here, which puzzled him. Could it relate to Angel agreeing with Polo Ye to enter the Domain Field and then targeting the arrival by shrinking the field range?

Upon careful thought, it didn’t make sense; what could a weak Void Traveler do?

”I understand, Shura~”

The Observer turned his head.

Polo Ye: ”I guess this Void Traveler is his way out. The Void Traveler’s best ability is escaping and being familiar with space. You saw just now—it opened a space crevice silently, a trick only a Void Traveler could do.”

”This guy thought it through; he even raised a Void Traveler as a way out, no wonder he dared to get involved in this matter.”

The Observer thought for a moment and agreed with Polo Ye’s speculation.

When Angel returned to the Mist Belt’s center, he surely hadn’t expected the Observer’s protection at the time.

A wizard, unless in desperation, wouldn’t recklessly tread a dead end unprepared. Logically speaking, Angel should have a way out.

Relating this to the previously concealed Heideland, it seemed like the Void Traveler was indeed his fallback plan.

Moreover, this Void Traveler being able to locate here probably wasn’t locating Angel but Heideland.

With this reasoning, the logic immediately became coherent for the Observer.

Even though his rationality had accepted this truth, there was a vague sense that something felt off... he couldn’t pinpoint it.

Polo Ye noticed the Observer seemed to have some concerns and chuckled lightly: ”Shura? Do you think my judgment is incorrect?”

”If you think my judgment is incorrect, why not ask this little wizard directly?”

After Polo Ye’s words, they looked at Angel.

The Observer was stunned, turned back, and saw that Angel had already awakened at some point, looking at the Void Traveler... the drowning pup with wide-eyed astonishment.

”Hey, the dog is okay; it’ll wake up and flounder again. Answer my question first, Shura?”

Angel turned his head, his eyes vacantly confused.

Why was Polo Ye coming over? And so close? Almost sticking to his face!

Also, how did the Dalmatian and Wang Wang arrive this way, especially the Dalmatian? What was it up to?

Could it be that his comprehension this time took much longer? Had days and nights changed, stars turned around in the sky?

Angel’s shallow thoughts were almost written on his face. The Observer easily interpreted it: ”Not much time passed, just a few minutes. But on the other side, the Out-of-Order Obelisk is about to mature completely, just one last small piece of shell left... By the way, how’s your progress?”

With the Observer’s explanation, Angel finally felt a sense of returning to reality amidst his daze.

”Pretty good progress, just the last part... the last part...” Angel pondered for a while but couldn’t come up with the words to describe the scene at the time, so he glossed over it: ”The last part was a bit too complex, exceeding my holding capacity.”

Angel spoke vaguely and cryptically, but the Observer roughly understood what he was trying to convey.

The mysterious realm is originally idealistic, only to be sensed.

”It’s good to have gained something,” the Observer encouraged with a sentence.

”Shoo-lah! Was I completely ignored?” Polo Ye’s voice sounded like a child acting spoiled, but to Angel, it felt like a threat stabbing straight into his heart.

Under this threat, Angel had to focus his attention on Polo Ye.

”Honorable sir, do you have any questions?” Angel said respectfully.

Polo Ye: ”Little Wizard, what’s your name?”

Polo Ye had long learned his name from other Wizards, but this couldn’t be revealed.

”Angel Pat.”

”Shoo-lah~ Angel, answer my question, is this Void Traveler yours? What do you plan to do by calling it here?”

Polo Ye pointed to the enlarged Void Traveler.

Angel glanced at Wang Wang, his expression slightly complicated.

The first question was easy to answer, but the latter was difficult to handle... He couldn’t possibly say it came to target you and Gluz Deward, could he?

Just as Angel was hesitating on how to answer, Polo Ye suddenly changed the subject, saying, ”My backup is preparing to descend!”

As Polo Ye’s voice fell, a sinister Space Rift began to appear right between them.

”Move aside!”

The Observer shouted, and Angel immediately reacted, quickly dodging to the side. The Space Rift looked stable, but any contact would definitely end in being torn apart.

However, the movable space was too small now, and Angel had hardly any retreat path, so he could only edge closer to the Observer.

After narrowly avoiding the reach of the Space Rift, Angel let out a long sigh: ”The space to evade is too narrow, nearly got wiped out.”

The Observer heard Angel’s words and couldn’t help but widen his eyes, staring directly at Angel: Isn’t this your doing? How do you have the nerve to complain?

Angel felt chilled to the spine from the stare, confused: ”Sir, what’s wrong?”

”What’s wrong? Do you not know yourself?”

”What do I know?” Angel looked puzzled, completely unaware of what the Observer was talking about.

”Your Domain Field!” the Observer said lowly, then glanced at the distant Polo Ye, who was fervently watching the Space Rift and hadn’t noticed them.

”What’s wrong with my Domain Field?”

The Observer suddenly fell silent. As the Legendary Wizard, leaving other abilities aside, he could sense whether someone was lying even without powers.

Angel wasn’t lying. He truly didn’t know what had happened.

Then this was peculiar.

He could confirm that their safety in this ”safe zone” was due to the Green Pattern Domain Field’s existence. But now, Angel was denying the Green Pattern Domain Field, seemingly unaware that he had reduced its space.

This meant his previous guesses were wrong. Maybe Angel was truly ”comprehending” earlier and not acting.

But if it wasn’t him, what’s the matter with this Domain Field?

The Observer felt his thoughts were somewhat tangled, like a yarn ball scrambled by a cat, never able to become round.

”Forget it, don’t think about it,” the Observer sighed, choosing to give up for now. Currently, the most important thing is Polo Ye’s backup.

As long as the backup descends and the spatial passage stabilizes, they can leave here.

By then, he’ll record all events that took place here and forward them to the Orderly Guild, letting them worry over it.

After all, he’s just an Observer, indifferent, cold-eyed, and these troubles are none of his business.

...

The Space Rift continued to steadily enlarge, and from here, the silhouette behind the rift was faintly visible already.

From the outline, it seemed to be humans?

This intrigued the Observer quite a bit, as the citizens of Phantom Spirit City were basically magical creatures, with very few humans. Unexpectedly, the backup Polo Ye awaited turned out to be humans.

Or maybe he was mistaken, perhaps humanoid? Phantom Spirit City has quite a few humanoids, like the Treasure Mermaids.

This isn’t important, as long as the backup is real, the spatial passage is real, everything else is negligible.

After confirming the rift was worry-free, the Observer turned his gaze to the distant Mysterious Fruit.

Right now, he only hoped that the last piece of the fruit’s shell could hold out a little longer. Best until they leave here.

However, reality often runs counter to hope.

Just as the Space Rift began to expand, that last piece of the fruit’s shell also started to sway precariously.

A sea breeze blew through.

Finally, the last bit of the fruit’s shell was unveiled.

It transformed into spots of light, vanishing in mid-air.

...

The Observer’s heart skipped a beat; all the shells had fallen, which meant the object of chaos had matured!

The disorderly rhythm caused by such an object of chaos would be tenfold, even a hundredfold more terrifying than now!

Space Rift... Space Rift...

Now the only hope is to leave through the Space Rift before the chaotic rhythm erupts!

However, the Space Rift’s opening also requires time, at least about five seconds before it stabilizes.

And within five seconds, the chaotic rhythm is enough to thrash them!

On this thought, the Observer’s heart grew cold, already prepared to unleash his trump card. As the Legendary Wizard, he wouldn’t lack trump cards. He just didn’t expect to use it here.

Yet, one second passes.

Two seconds pass.

Three seconds pass.

The anticipated attraction didn’t increase, nor did the chaotic rhythm surge as imagined.

What’s going on?

The Observer felt a bit dumbfounded, and with curiosity, he turned to look at the distant Mysterious Fruit.
