Chapter 2458: Chapter 2459: Standard Procedure

”Power assessment?” Diescher’s tone was a bit puzzled, not understanding what this meant.

”The disorder effect can influence all subjects within the range, conducting multiple and repeated basic assessments. The stronger the power, the higher the chance of passing the assessment; conversely, the lower the chance.”

Angel: ”The subjects are all thinking beings, even if it’s just a projection. As long as there’s thought, they will inevitably undergo assessment.”

When Angel said this, the others roughly understood what Angel meant.

Zhuguang Chairman: ”You mean our projections are also within the assessment range. Because the power of the projections is almost non-existent, passing the power assessment is impossible, so the attraction we experience is stronger than others, and we are less able to resist.”

Angel nodded: ”Yes, and this attraction will also radiate to your true bodies. Even if your true bodies are in the void or in a more distant place, you cannot escape.”

”The most important thing is, he uses the objects within the assessed range as the benchmark, and there’s a causal inevitability. If you cannot pass the assessment, then you will inevitably fail to pass. It will not conduct a second power assessment on your true bodies in the void; it still uses the projection as the standard. So, even if your hidden true bodies in the void are powerful, under this causal inevitability, you are still implicated and experience stronger attraction than others.”

This sounds very unreasonable and illogical, but isn’t that what mysterious objects are, especially since this mysterious object is about to completely lose control.

With Angel’s explanation, everyone understood. But the clearer the situation became, the worse their expressions looked.

”So, as long as our projections exist for a moment, they will continuously influence our true bodies.” Diescher’s face turned somewhat dark.

”Yes, without external interference, your situation will be the same as hers.” Angel pointed at Rivetta.

Rivetta’s projection couldn’t pass the assessment, so her true body could not awaken.

Zhuguang Chairman sighed: ”We originally had no intention of joining the conflict, just wanted to do a front-line report. We thought we could be carefree relying on the projections, but no matter how much we calculated, we didn’t expect to stumble on the projections.”

”We owe you thanks for your help, otherwise, we would have had a very difficult time this round.”

Diescher and Adelaide also expressed their gratitude.

Angel waved his hand: ”I just wanted to conduct a test.”

Or rather, it was the Observer who wanted to conduct the test, but due to an oath-bound relationship, he couldn’t do it directly, so he indirectly got Angel to do it.

Pausing for a moment, Angel continued, ”Although your projections cause you greater attraction than others, with a lower chance of passing the assessment, this might also be where your advantage lies.”

Diescher: ”Why?”

Angel: ”I was thinking, since the Mysterious Fruit will not conduct a second assessment on your true bodies, you might only need to start solving the problem from the projection.”

”As for the group of Wizards behind us, they have to start with their true bodies.”

One side only needs to resolve the projection, while the other needs to address the root cause. Comparing the two, resolving the projection is obviously easier.

”Of course, this is just my hypothesis. Whether it’s true or not, we’ll need to conduct another test.”

After speaking, Angel’s gaze roamed over the crowd. Finally, he focused on Rivetta.

”I need her to cooperate with me for a test. Is it feasible?”

Diescher looked at Angel suspiciously, not understanding why Rivetta was chosen, but still nodded: ”Alright, but she hasn’t regained consciousness yet.”

Just as the words were spoken, Diescher felt a flash of green light around him.

Soon after, a familiar voice came to his ears: ”Huh, I seemed to be influenced by some power just now, Chief Editor...”

Before she could finish, Rivetta was stunned, her gaze blankly resting on Angel and the Observer not far away.

What was going on? How did these two come here?

Diescher: ”Rivetta, the situation is urgent. I’ll explain later. I need you to cooperate with this gentleman for a test now.”

Rivetta looked bewildered: ”Huh? A test? What kind of test?”

Diescher didn’t know what kind of test it was either, so he turned to look at Angel.

Angel said calmly: ”It’s a very simple test. You just need to stand still.”

Rivetta still didn’t understand what was happening, and saw Angel approach her, pointing a finger at her.

Angel’s fingertip emitted a faint arc of light. The next moment, Rivetta felt a flash of white light in front of her eyes, followed by the sound of something shattering.

—The projection shattered.

When Rivetta regained consciousness, she found herself back in the void.

She wanted to project her consciousness back onto the projection, yet found that the projection was completely unperceivable; she was unable to descend.

Rivetta was still utterly confused at this moment; she didn’t even know what the current situation was, and she had returned to her true body? Her report and the frontline images she had captured hadn’t been brought back!

While Rivetta was filled with doubts, Diescher’s true body next to her opened its eyes.

Rivetta just wanted to inquire, but Diescher said, ”Your questions can wait. For now, answer me: can you move? Can you feel anything unusual, do you feel constrained?”

Rivetta flew around the Void and then said to Diescher, ”I can move, and there’s no unusual feeling.”

A flash of realization passed through Diescher’s eyes: ”It turns out you really just need to resolve the projection, and you’re no longer affected.”

”Editor-in-chief, what are you talking about?”

Diescher waved his hand: ”Nothing, stay here and don’t move around.”

After speaking, Diescher’s true body closed its eyes again, and his thoughts immersed back into the projection of the real world.

...

”Rivetta can already move freely and doesn’t feel anything unusual anymore.” Diescher said.

”It seems your judgment was correct.” The Observer was also watching the situation over here and, hearing Diescher’s words, understood that Angel’s deduction was indeed correct.

This disorderly artifact wants to exert its effect; it does require a strength assessment, and it only assesses the existence within its influence radius. Once the existence within the radius disappears, even if affected by karma, as long as you don’t step into the radius, new assessments won’t be carried out.

Reaching this conclusion isn’t actually difficult, but to deduce it in such a short timeframe through several small tests shows Angel’s thinking is quite agile.

Having this conclusion is a great help to the Observer and Polo Ye, those devoted to the mysterious object.

Because through this conclusion, we can basically determine that this disorderly artifact isn’t one of those unconventional, elusive types.

Its chaos rhythm mainly relies on ”influence radius” and ”strength assessment,” to put it plainly, it only has these two conditions: ”distance” and ”strength.”

This belongs to a very common category among the disorderly artifacts.

Moreover, although it is in a disorderly state, it still possesses functioning logic, which greatly reduces the difficulty in containing it.

It is so stated because many disorderly artifacts have non-mainstream rhythm conditions and lack functioning logic; this type of disorderly artifact is very challenging for the Mystic Hunters of the Orderly Guild.

Take the recent example of the ”Reincarnation Casket” that Frost wants to contain.

The Reincarnation Casket’s chaos rhythm is still quite common, with just one condition: distance.

As long as you don’t actively approach the Reincarnation Casket, you won’t be affected by it.

However, while the chaos rhythm only has the distance factor, its internal functioning logic is extremely bizarre. Even if you possess formidable strength, it doesn’t guarantee survival.

Furthermore, even if you pass through various small worlds and survive coming out from the Reincarnation Casket, it doesn’t mean you’ve understood its operational mechanism.

Frost did successfully come out, but he’s still baffled by that mysterious object; he completely doesn’t understand the functioning logic and even more so doesn’t know how to contain it.

And among many disorderly artifacts, the Reincarnation Casket isn’t even the most special, yet it’s still remarkably challenging to comprehend.

The current Mysterious Fruit, with its strong effect, has a simple and blunt chaos rhythm, yet possesses certain functioning logic, which is simply too friendly.

Of course, the so-called ”friendly” is merely the Observer’s judgment on its functioning logic, not necessarily implying easy containment.

There are quite a few disorderly artifacts like this simple and blunt Mysterious Fruit, which have caused the downfall of many Mystic Hunters; thus, caution is still necessary.

However, compared to those artifacts with bizarre operational logic and non-mainstream chaos rhythm, the people of the Orderly Guild prefer facing disorderly artifacts like the Mysterious Fruit.

After determining the rhythm and effect of the disorderly artifact, the Observer no longer focuses on Councilor Zhuguang and others, but instead attentively watches the condition of the Mysterious Fruit. Meanwhile, he takes out recording tools to document the information of the current disorderly artifact.

If Polo Ye cannot contain it, he will make a timely judgment. If the judgment suggests no feasible handling, he will immediately transmit this information to the Orderly Guild, allowing them to dispatch Mystic Hunters to come for containment.

On the other side, Angel turns his head to look at Councilor Zhuguang and others.

”Now, the Mysterious Fruit has merely broken open a crack, and its effect has already rendered your projections difficult to resist; next, when its fruit shell completely falls off, its effect will be even stronger. My Domain Field might not be able to awaken you. So, do you still plan to stay here?”

Without suspense, they all responded in the negative. Although they were very interested in the intelligence about the Mysterious Fruit, all this is premised on remaining alive. If surviving is impossible, then knowing the intelligence is meaningless.

Angel: ”I can shatter your projections like Rivetta, to no longer be affected by the Mysterious Fruit. However, I have one condition.”
