Chapter 2084: Chapter 2085: Transformation Experiment

Angel nodded to Mizhe Warren, accepting the gesture. Then he turned to look at Boiler Gentleman: ”Is it going to carry this new Power Furnace? From its appearance, I thought it was already installed.”

Boiler Gentleman: ”Though Mizhe Warren is my assistant, it hasn’t been a full moon cycle since its creation; before, it couldn’t withstand the transformation by the Power Furnace.”

Angel: ”And now it can accept it?”

”After descending into Xinnai Land, it could indeed accept it. However, the Power Furnace does affect the Spirit Intelligence to some extent, and these days it has become accustomed to the feeling of Nightmare Light, which allows the modification now.”

Boiler Gentleman didn’t hide any information, revealing all the intricacies involved. After Angel listened, he looked calm and nodded, but there was a flash of realization in his heart. He had previously speculated that the Power Furnace might affect personality and thinking, and he’d held onto a shred of hope, but now even that hope was gone.

Boiler Gentleman confirmed that the Power Furnace does indeed affect Spirit Intelligence after biological transformation. And this effect most likely comes from the Nightmare Light.

It seems that the Power Furnace truly cannot be replicated in the Wizards’ Realm. Angel sighed silently in his heart.

Although Angel’s expectations for the Power Furnace had plummeted at the moment, given that it had been previously agreed upon, when Mizhe Warren lay on the workbench for modification, Angel still showed a deep interest.

This ”interest” was partly performed, but partly genuine curiosity.

However, this curiosity was not about the Power Furnace, but rather about Mizhe Warren. He was very eager to know what the internal structure of Mizhe Warren’s outer armor was like.

Ka-da, Ka-klang—these were the sounds of metal clashing.

Woosh, boom—these were the sounds of steam escaping.

Under the intense light, Boiler Gentleman swiftly dissected Mizhe Warren’s abdomen with precision instruments. His technique was so fast it almost formed an illusion.

As layer after layer of iron skin and parts were stripped away, Mizhe Warren’s internal structure finally revealed itself to Angel.

Previously, Angel had thought that Mizhe Warren, hidden beneath the armor, might be a Nightmare Realm creature, perhaps a humanoid animal like Blair the Bee from dark fairy tales, or maybe an anomalous humanoid like Misty Goldlady or Dawasia.

But unexpectedly, Mizhe Warren’s interior was still all mechanical equipment, without a trace of flesh and blood.

In other words, the so-called steam armor was not actually armor, but Mizhe Warren’s body itself. It was, essentially, a living Steel Fortress!

Because of this, the experiment presented by Boiler Gentleman this time was not bloody at all. It was more like a Mechanical Alchemist performing routine modifications on a Mechanical Puppet.

Compared to biological transformations, Angel personally preferred this type of mechanical modification. It wasn’t about moral scruples, simply that biological modification was his knowledge blind spot, whereas mechanical modification was something Angel was familiar with.

By observing Boiler Gentleman’s modification of Mizhe Warren up close, Angel could learn a great deal.

It wasn’t just Boiler Gentleman’s modification techniques; the internal structure of Mizhe Warren also provided many insights.

Towards the end, Angel was almost completely immersed in Boiler Gentleman’s modification experiment. When he saw puzzling parts of the experiment, Angel was not hesitant to ask questions.

Boiler Gentleman also provided corresponding answers, from which Angel benefited greatly.

This Q&A persisted for a long time until Boiler Gentleman gouged out a big hole in Mizhe Warren’s abdomen and picked up the Power Furnace, preparing to install it, which jolted Angel back to reality.

He had completely immersed himself in the experiment just now, even forgetting to play his disguise as Shava.

Angel’s expression changed as he recalled his earlier dialogue with Boiler Gentleman... In terms of questions, he hadn’t exposed anything, and even occasionally offered opinions, as he was an Alchemist himself.

Only his expression of eagerness had been slightly too intense. But this should not be too much of a problem, as he had already shown curiosity about the Power Furnace before, and a little eagerness should still fit the character setup.

Angel glanced at Boiler Gentleman with the corner of his eye. Although he couldn’t see his expression because of invisibility, his exposed emotions didn’t show anything unusual.

Only then did Angel breathe a slight sigh of relief, secretly reminded himself not to relax and lower his guard just because he was about to leave the ruins.

Thinking of this, in the ongoing process of Boiler Gentleman installing the Power Furnace, Angel gradually withdrew from his emotional state, observing the experiment with a more detached attitude.

Although the gains weren’t as many as when he was fully immersed earlier, he still saw many things worth learning from.

For instance, the gears and pipes on the Power Furnace, which Angel had previously been unable to comprehend. Now, as the modification experiment progressed, he had a sudden Enlightenment.

These pipes fully integrated with Mizhe Warren’s other Energy Output pipelines, capable of continually channeling the Origin of Chaos power from the Power Furnace into every part of Mizhe Warren’s body.

The gears were like controllers for energy output, able to adjust the peak output of Origin of Chaos and also serve as a valve to lower or even cut off its supply.

Of course, cutting off the supply of Origin of Chaos would inevitably lead to the instant death of Mizhe Warren from energy deficiency.

For the modified, this could be said to be a critical vulnerability.

If Angel were the modified, he would absolutely not want such a vulnerability to exist.

But the vulnerability remained, not because Boiler Gentleman couldn’t remove it, but simply because... it was deliberately left by Boiler Gentleman.

Because this was a means for Boiler Gentleman to control the modified.

As the creator of the Power Furnace, Boiler Gentleman could turn off the vulnerability at any time. Just like before, when they encountered the Bone Leopard, Boiler Gentleman closed the valve of that Bone Leopard’s Power Furnace, causing it to die.

The modified, under the threat to their lives, naturally obeyed Boiler Gentleman’s orders.

Boiler Gentleman’s actions were quick; in less than a minute, the Power Furnace was connected and adapted to all the pipes inside Mizhe Warren.

As the Power Furnace was fully installed, Mizhe Warren, who was in slumber, suddenly opened its eyes.

Ka-ka-ka—

Mizhe Warren slowly sat up from the workbench, and the white Pattern at its eyes began to turn crimson, while the red far-seeing lens on the other side also started emitting a thick red light.

With the sudden appearance of the red light, a mood-agitating aura began emanating from Mizhe Warren.

”Slaughter...”

”Thirst for blood...”

”Nightmare is coming...”

A series of insane evil thoughts emerged from the red light surrounding Mizhe Warren.

This evil thought was very similar to the madness thought within the previous Origin of Chaos, only that the previous madness was like roots without a base, affecting only the spiritual level, whereas the current madness seemed on the verge of becoming reality, rampaging unrestrained on the material level.

When the evil thought reached its peak, Mizhe Warren, without warning, raised its head, its mechanical mouth gaping wide open, and a red beam of light suddenly shot from its dark mouth.
