Warlock Apprentice

Chapter 2037: Chapter 2038: Restoration of Sanity

His eyes, whether the pupils or the whites, were a deep green.

Previously, Angel had simply thought it was an organ mutation caused by assimilation, but now upon closer inspection, he found that the color of his eyes was almost identical to the green mist surrounding them.

Moreover, this shade of green was faintly glowing, with a hint of fluid motion.

”Could it be that his body also contains such green mist?”

Though it couldn’t be confirmed yet, the moment this thought arose, Angel was certain that this might be the key to the problem.

But even if the root of the problem was found, how could it be treated?

Angel hesitated for a moment, casting his gaze at the little creatures, who appeared very satisfied and slightly lazy from their meal.

Would they work? Angel didn’t know the answer, but he decided to let them try.

Because their intelligence was really low, Angel communicated for a long time before the little creatures hesitantly jumped onto the man assimilated by the mycelium.

Perhaps out of a natural aversion to humans, they were clearly uneasy on the man, always trying to escape.

Angel persistently guided them, and finally, after hesitating for several minutes, they reluctantly began to act.

Their mouths opened—a young oral tool that hadn’t even fully grown teeth.

They bit directly onto the man’s neck... However, the skin wasn’t broken.

They bit several more times, changing to several other places, but still could not break the skin. Only then did they turn their caps around and blow bubbles at Angel, seemingly trying to convey their helplessness.

Angel pondered for a bit and guided the Phantom Limb towards the man’s neck, gently making a small incision, and three tiny wounds appeared.

Upon closer inspection, Angel noticed that no blood oozed from the wounds, instead, it was filled with dense mycelium, as if the mycelium had replaced all the tissues inside him.

Once the little creatures saw the wounds, they hesitantly approached, then opened their mouths and began to suck voraciously at the wounds.

Through the gaps in their oral tools, Angel clearly saw large amounts of Viridian Mist floating out, all entering the creatures’ seemingly bottomless bellies.

As they absorbed the Viridian Mist, the green in the man’s eyes slowly faded, gradually returning to normal eyes.

Seeing this, Angel felt a thrill of joy.

About two minutes later, the little creatures lifted their heads and ceased absorbing.

After bringing them back, Angel looked at the man again, hoping this time for some pleasant surprise.

With hope in mind, Angel released the oppression of the green pattern on him.

As the oppression lifted, the mushrooms started to move, and the aura of flames once again pervaded the surroundings.

When he perceived the waves of malice surging up, Angel’s brow furrowed.

Had it failed again?

As Angel contemplated whether to reactivate his right eye, a slightly raspy voice came from the mushroom’s oral tools: ”Don’t stop... don’t stop...”

Angel was momentarily stunned, taking quite a while to react. This time, it was a real human voice! Not a conveyed emotion.

He stared intently at the man within the mushroom’s oral tools. The man’s eyes seemed a little cloudy, and his mouth kept moving, but all he said was ”don’t stop.”

While Angel was still pondering his meaning, a surge of angry emotion suddenly broke out: ”I’ll kill you all!!”

The emotional outburst came with a violent blast of flames.

Angel had been mentally prepared, so he easily resisted the attack and simultaneously reactivated his right eye, suppressing the Island Mushroom.

Once the air quieted down again, Angel, with doubt in his eyes, thought: Speaking in the Universal Language implies he regained some awareness.

But after regaining consciousness, the words he said were ”don’t stop.” Was he trying to remind me of something?

Angel looked up at the man, hoping to find some clues. But just when their eyes met, Angel was stunned.

Previously, the eyes that had returned to normal now once again brimmed with a faint green, growing deeper in color.

Seeing this, Angel immediately understood. The green mist inside the man hadn’t been eradicated, so he kept saying ”don’t stop” to keep the three little creatures from stopping?

At this thought, Angel hurriedly coaxed the three creatures to continue extracting the green mist from the man.

This time, even after the man’s eyes returned to normal, Angel let the creatures keep extracting and courageously lifted the suppression of his right eye.

The Island Mushroom began to move, but this time, it showed no sign of aggression.

The man’s lowered head gradually raised, looking at Angel standing outside the oral tool.

”...Thank you,” the man softly said, his voice very raspy.

Hearing his thanks, Angel understood that he had made the right choice.

”I don’t know who you are, but I remember everything that happened before. You never attacked me willingly. Whatever you wish to gain from me, you can have. But please don’t let... them stop absorbing the parasites from my body, because they keep growing. If stopped, I will lose control again.”

The man’s tone was slow, but it answered Angel’s previous doubts.

The Viridian Mist indeed continues to proliferate. To maintain the man’s clarity, the newly formed Viridian Mist on him must be continuously absorbed.

Although the answer surfaced, Angel felt no relief in his heart, because if the effect of the Bewildering Glow is truly so domineering, is there hope for humans controlled by it?

”I promise you, I will let them keep absorbing the green mist in your body... the parasites as you call them.” Angel paused: ”From what you said, although you were controlled by the Bewildering Glow, you can sense what’s happening outside?”

”Bewildering Glow?”

Angel snapped his fingers softly, revealing the illusion of a mature Bewildering Glow before him: ”This is the Bewildering Glow; you should be familiar with it.”

”So it’s called Bewildering Glow...” the man somewhat dazed: ”Of course I’m familiar with it, because it’s responsible for my current condition.”

As he spoke, anger and agitation flickered in the man’s eyes, yet there was also conspicuous fear and trepidation.

Seeing his emotions rising, Angel coughed, catching his attention.

”Let’s set aside my earlier question for now and start with introductions.” Angel decided to ease the tension first. He introduced himself, then looked at the man, implying an introduction from him.

”Angel, you say you’re called Angel? Disciple of the Illusion Demon?”

Angel nodded.

”It can’t be. I’ve seen Angel’s appearance in magazines, and he’s an apprentice. You...” the man was full of doubt.

Angel smiled faintly, releasing the Shapeshifting Technique, reverting to his graceful blond nobility form.

”My mentor is indeed Sanders, as for my strength, I recently advanced to Wizard. It’s understandable if you’re not aware.”

Although the man was still somewhat skeptical, he didn’t press further. After all, meeting a fellow human in this place was truly rare.

”I am Reeves, from the Vansel family.”
