Warlock Apprentice

Chapter 2009: Chapter 2010: The Time Has Not Yet Come

The firelight in Lady Twilight’s fireplace lit up, reflecting on the sky and burning a rosy pattern into the distant clouds.

As the daylight was about to end and night was falling, Rhein nodded to Angel, bidding farewell to the tranquil ruins.

When Angel was preparing to return to the ruins, the Tree Spirit, leaning against a tree in front of the gate, whispered, ”Do you think the Sky Mechanical City truly doesn’t know, or are they pretending not to know?”

Angel paused for a moment, ”In such a significant occasion, with my understanding of Dean Muse and Lord Rosen, the likelihood of them lying is low.”

”You’re right; it’s not that easy to deceive the Prophet Wizard. However, if they’re not lying, then things are quite strange.” The Tree Spirit pondered, ”There’s no reason for those apprentices, who were originally engrossed in practice in the Endless Corridor, to all go to that Reincarnation Casket you mentioned?”

The Tree Spirit mused, unable to make sense of it.

”Perhaps the time hasn’t come yet.”

The Tree Spirit looked up at Angel, ”That seems to be the only explanation. They are not asking the apprentices to go now, but it doesn’t mean they won’t in the future... I still don’t understand what happened in between.”

The Tree Spirit shook his head, ”Forget it, better not to think about it. For now, let Horus keep a closer watch to prevent those hot-blooded apprentices from accepting some impossible tasks in the Sky Mechanical City.”

Angel said nothing, for that was the only way currently. Before the unknown future happens, they could only let Lord Horus give the apprentices of the Barbarian Cave a preventive measure in the Sky Mechanical City.

Angel: ”If there’s nothing else, I’ll be going back.”

”Alright, once Rhein enters the Star Pond Ruins later, I will inform you at once.” The Tree Spirit nodded nonchalantly.

Just as Angel opened the gate of the ruins, about to be swallowed by darkness, the Tree Spirit suddenly remembered something: ”Oh, I have something to ask you.”

Angel looked at the Tree Spirit with curiosity.

”When I came today, I noticed something. In the material library on the third basement level, you set up a little room that looks somewhat like a True Illusion technique. It’s for Baruba and them to live, right?” Seeing Angel nod, the Tree Spirit continued, ”I found it odd, how come they’ve been sleeping all afternoon?”

The Tree Spirit had noticed earlier that both Baruba and those two little Kulakuka Tribe kids were all sleeping. Didn’t Angel bring them back to the ruins for dream and illusion research?

Could it be that dreaming allows for information exchange?

”Recently, my mentor and I have been researching the combination of dream and illusion. They were affected when I was casting a dream and illusion combined model this afternoon,” Angel said leisurely. ”Anyway, since I hadn’t organized the topic yet, I simply let them sleep.”

”Is that so?” The Tree Spirit was a bit skeptical. But what Angel said had no flaws, and since Sanders had indeed been studying dream tricks recently, the Tree Spirit, though suspicious, thought for a while and stopped probing further.

After all, those little guys were only sleeping, at least better treated than those apprentices he saw last time at Dumatin’s place.

The Tree Spirit nodded and said no more, while Angel completely disappeared into the darkness.

After a while, in the study on the second basement level, Angel neither immersed himself in introspection nor repaired the broken magic patterns. Instead, he rested his face on the back of his hand, his eyes fixed on the flickering candlelight, gradually lost in thought.

He was recalling the message transmitted earlier by Maya through the Mini Signal Tower.

Today was the third day of the star-gazing period, and the enthusiasm for the exchanges was expected to decline by now. But this time was different, as everyone continued to anxiously pay attention to the exchange gathering of the day.

Because according to what Oupulia said yesterday, he would consult with City Lord Rosen to see if the prophecy of the Doomsday Scenery was related to the Sky Mechanical City.

Currently, only Angel roughly guessed that the truth of the Doomsday Scenery might actually be about the Reincarnation Casket. Hence, others still perceived the Doomsday Scenery as a situation in some Otherworld, appearing concerned but actually coveting.

Because of this, everyone was eager to hear what response Oupulia would have today.

Oupulia didn’t speak; instead, he used the Photostone to broadcast his conversation with City Lord Rosen during the star-gazing event.

At that time, City Lord Rosen and Dean Muse happened to be together, and when Oupulia inquired about the Doomsday Scenery, both city lords denied it simultaneously.

Muse waved his hand dismissively, ”This is nonsense.”

Rosen sneered sarcastically, ”We had no clue about the Doomsday Scenery prophecy this time. Moreover, we had pre-informed the major witch organizations about the Purification Garden incident back then, so the blame of slaughtering apprentices shouldn’t fall solely on us.”

Everyone thought about it and agreed that Rosen had a point.

To make up for the aftermath caused by the Purification Garden, right after the New Star Game, Sky Mechanical City opened up the Endless Corridor to the apprentices who achieved rankings in the competition, which is a substantial benefit.

This demonstrated the sincerity of the Sky Mechanical City.

Since they had such sincerity, it wasn’t necessary to re-enact the scheme to slaughter New Star Game’s apprentices again. Moreover, that Oupulia dared to broadcast their conversation in front of so many Prophet Wizards also indicated their confidence.

The presence of apprentices in Doomsday Scenery might indeed have nothing to do with the Sky Mechanical City.

Of course, that’s the thinking of other witch organizations, including the Sky Mechanical City itself. Because they don’t yet know, the Doomsday Scenery is very likely happening inside the ”Reincarnation Casket of the Undead.”

In Angel’s view, who knows the inside story, it’s impossible for the Sky Mechanical City to completely dissociate from the matter. Because aside from Angel himself, the Sky Mechanical City is the only one in the Southern Domain Wizard World that knows the location of the ”Reincarnation Casket of the Undead.”

So, it’s highly likely that the apprentices in the Doomsday Scenery are indeed sent in by the Sky Mechanical City people.

The reason they’re not admitting it now is probably the same as what Angel and the Tree Spirit discussed earlier — the time is not yet ripe.

Perhaps they truly don’t have such plans now, but hearts change easily, and who can say what the future holds?

Angel is simply very curious, what exactly happened in the future that will make the Sky Mechanical City choose to send apprentices into the Reincarnation Casket?

Could something have changed within the Reincarnation Casket?

As Angel thought about this, he unconsciously focused on the psychic model, specifically, the witchcraft slot.

After accumulating for a while, the special energy of the Gate of Void has unknowingly covered almost 90% of the Gate Model.

It’s estimated that within a week or two, the special energy will be fully accumulated.

Last time, due to the Gate of Void, he entered the Reincarnation Casket. Although Angel doesn’t think he will enter the Reincarnation Casket again, he plans to try again once the special energy is fully accumulated.

Being able to enter the Reincarnation Casket, it won’t hurt to take another look. If he can’t enter, he’ll follow the guidance of the special energy and see what the ultimate end of the Gate of Void looks like...
