Chapter 1129: Section 1130: The Whimper of Lassudral

As soon as the words fell, the Indigenous People suddenly opened their eyes.

With their eyes opening, a terrifying momentum, carrying endless oppression, came rushing in!

Yadasai’s pupils shrank: This was actually another entity no weaker than the previous Abyssal Dragon!

It seemed that this defense mechanism had completely fortified the Void Tower to the extreme, even this dark passage that was left out had a powerful entity guarding it.

“Damn, we have been discovered! I’ll hold him off, you seize the chance to enter the Void Tower!” Nitotipu said.

The black eagle cried out, and the air became stagnant.

Battle was about to erupt!

Meanwhile, inside the Void Tower.

In the hollow corridor, a figure enshrouded in flames passed through. Enchanted chains in deep red, touching the smooth ground, created a “clang clang” sound with every move he made.

He paused for a moment by a window, turning his head to look outside.

Outside, dark light laid out, and shadows fluttered ceaselessly in the sky. Then, a shadow drifted to the window, and he looked up at the immense shadow.

—From his perspective, the shadow was the head of an Abyssal Dragon.

The dragon’s eyes were purple-red, and when it looked at him, a hint of confusion flashed in its eyes. With a snort, purple flames made the windows crackle.

Through the light of the dragon’s breath, one could clearly see his face.

His features were like deep ravines, and within the interplay of light and shadow, they seemed mad or deranged.

He was none other than Popota, who had assumed the alias Hua Que.

Popota looked straight into the dragon’s eyes without fear.

Instead, the Abyssal Dragon, being stared at by Popota, slowly moved its head away and disappeared from the window.

After the Abyssal Dragon’s figure vanished, Popota slowly lowered his brows, covering the strange patterns in his eyes. With his lowered gaze, the chains on his body made a rustling sound.

He lowered his head, touching the chains with a mesmerized look in his eyes: “Have you eaten your fill?”

The chains moved slightly, as if responding to his question.

“Then it’s time to go,” Popota’s voice started calm, even indifferent, but suddenly, a maniacal laugh came from his mouth.

“Yi ha ha ha—” After the laughter, Popota’s eyes continually flickered between a dazed and lucid state, and the corners of his mouth twisted into a strange curve.

He continued forward, and soon, he arrived in front of a door covered in mysterious patterns.

The door hadn’t been opened, but there was a broken hole right in the center. Glowing metal fragments were scattered on the ground, indicating the violent force used to break the door open from the extent of the fragments’ explosion.

Behind the hole lay a pitch-dark staircase that spiraled downward, its end not visible to the eye.

At this moment, Popota’s expression grew even more bizarre, and the message in his eyes became completely lost in confusion. If Angel had been there, he would have noticed that the current Popota was not only completely different from his time in the Barbarian Cave, but also from what he had seen at the Magma Pool a little while ago.

He had become even more mad, as if another personality had been forcibly stuffed into Popota’s body.

Humming a strange tune, Popota crawled into the hole and walked down the staircase. At the end of the staircase, there was another door with a hole blasted through it.

Crackling sounds came from inside the door.

Popota walked in as if he was returning home, strolling into the room behind the door. What lay beyond was a spacious circular hall, and the first thing one saw upon entering was a statue directly opposite, but the details of this statue were indiscernible as it was enveloped by black wings, with only a vague sight of a curled-up figure inside the wings.

Lying beneath the statue was a Demon in a state of unconsciousness.

The crackling sounds that had been heard were in fact coming from this slender demon’s body.

This demon’s face was almost half mouth, lined with sharp teeth—a characteristic that showed it was a Gluttonous Demon.

Generally, Gluttonous Demons are quite plump and huge like balloons, but this one was completely different, its stomach shriveled and almost appearing like a starving corpse.

A chain identical to the one on Popota was wrapped around the Gluttonous Demon; at that moment, one end of the chain was inserted into the demon’s navel, continuously sucking the blood and flesh, making a crackling sound.

Suddenly, the chain around the Gluttonous Demon emitted a bright red light and pulled out from its navel.

“Have you had enough?” Popota arched an eyebrow and looked down at the chain on his body. It had taken dozens of Demons in the Shadow Mist Area for the chain on his body to be barely satisfied. Yet the chain left in the Void Tower had been satisfied with just this one Gluttonous Demon… and this Gluttonous Demon had not even been drained dry.

—One of the seven great demons of Lassudral, truly extraordinary.

“If you are full, then come back,” he said.

As the words fell, the chain around the Gluttonous Demon connected with the one on his body.

A fierce red light suddenly emitted from where the chains joined, illuminating the entire underground hall.

At the same time, Popota’s facial features began to contort, his body swelling rapidly, as if countless worms were wriggling under his skin. Popota experienced indescribable agony, but instead of crying out in pain, he laughed maniacally.

This transformation lasted for several minutes.

When it ended, the ground was covered in a layer of white flesh that had been expelled, and Popota stood amidst this flesh.

At this moment, Popota’s body had almost grown to match the transformed Yadasai.

His body was covered in bumps and sharp angles, and green viscous liquid kept dripping from the pores of his skin, even sprouting a pair of terrifying flesh wings.

Where once a human shape was vaguely visible, now there was no semblance of humans left, and he appeared even more alien than a Demon. However, a strong sense of danger began to emanate from him!

“Yiha ha ha ha—” In a bizarre laugh, the clarity in Popota’s eyes was almost gone, leaving only confusion and madness.

In his madness, Popota struggled to his feet and began to walk step by step toward the statue in the center of the hall.

Beneath the statue wrapped in wings, there was a protruding stone block that seemed unremarkable. Yet with Popota’s newly increased power, he could clearly see countless light Patterns hidden in space, spanning the entire underground hall and extending to the Void Tower, and even into other-dimensional space.

And the core hub of all these Patterns was that unremarkable stone block. By pressing it, all the Patterns would be disrupted!

Popota was nearly mad.

His lucid thoughts were replaced by frenzied and agitated emotions.

It was as if many voices were whispering in his ear: Press it, press it…

Popota went along with these whispers, raising his hand covered in green slime, “Yiha ha ha, Lassudral, it’s time for the curtain to fall.”

He slowly reached out his hand toward the protruding stone.

The surrounding Patterns seemed to stir as if trying to stop him, but he continued anyway, just at a slower pace than before…

Outside the Void Tower, suddenly all the shadows became still for a moment.

Nitotipu, who had been at a disadvantage against the Indigenous People, took the chance to rally, shouting at Yadasai, “I’ve opened a secret passageway with my tentacles, hurry up and rush inside!”

Yadasai, upon hearing this, didn’t stop to ponder why the shadows had come to a halt. Instead, her figure flashed, immediately rushing toward the passageway.

The Indigenous People were only motionless for a brief instant; Nitotipu pressed forward, trying to suppress them with its crazed grey mist tentacles.

However, the Indigenous People were much stronger than it had anticipated. With just one swing of a staff, it severed Nitotipu’s tentacles.

But that was enough. Taking advantage of the momentary gap, Yadasai charged into the passageway.

Nitotipu, although severely injured, let out a sigh of relief. It knew that the shadows had their own mechanisms and could not enter the Void Tower, and the passage was already within the bounds of the Void Tower.

Since Yadasai had been sent into the passageway, Nitotipu’s mission was complete, and now it had to figure out how to retreat.

Only by leaving the Shadow Mist Area would it truly be safe.

Just as Nitotipu was thinking of retreating through the battle, the whole of Lassudral suddenly shook.

In the fiery sky, the clouds gathered swiftly.

A violent wind, starting with no reason. Blowing into Lassudral, it produced a loud, mournful wail.

The Wizards on the floating ice all looked around in confusion at the sudden change. The howling wind made everyone’s clothing flap loudly, and the Wizards, who had been fighting the Demons, now withdrew to steady themselves.

The surrounding clouds grew denser and denser.

In the sky, the uppermost layer was awash with flames, the middle layer covered in black clouds, and the lower layer filled with relentless and grim winds.

“What happened?” everyone was asking, but no one could answer. Yet deep down, a shadow loomed over everyone’s heart. One mishap after another unfolded, growing ever more profound, and by now everyone had a bad premonition.

A single person’s suspicion may be a coincidence, but when everyone feels something is amiss, then there truly is a problem.

Meher came to Monty’s side, asking what to do.

Monty, however, stood at the edge of the wind, his gaze sweeping over Lassudral, and finally, slowly settled on the Void Tower.

…

Misty Cabin.

As Lassudral suddenly shook, Angel’s heartbeat thundered like a drum.

As he wondered what was happening, the sky of Lassudral started to change, with clouds converging, and a wild wind arose suddenly.

The wind tangled Angel’s hair into disarray, his pupils reflecting the endless dark clouds.

“What’s happening?” Angel asked, turning to Fafnir. He didn’t even realize that his question carried an undertone of panic, and he had even omitted to use an honorific.

Fafnir’s brow was deeply furrowed.

She didn’t know what had happened either, but like those Wizards in the sky, Fafnir also had a strong sense of foreboding, even more intense than others.

Under this sudden ominous premonition, Fafnir even stood up.

She ignored Angel’s inquiry and directed her gaze towards where the premonition was pointing to—the Void Tower.

Angel didn’t get a response from Fafnir; instead, it was Canaan who spoke with a trembling voice,

“I—I think I hear Lassudral weeping.”
