Warlock Apprentice

Chapter 1118: Section 1119: Contemplation and Measurement

Samantha raised her eyebrows, “If I remember correctly, there was an Awakened Demon that Sinafa encountered, the Pannas Charm Demon, right? It awakened in your inn, didn’t it? Is this the effect of the journey of experience?”

Angel responded with silence.

“I’ve heard that the journey of experience is an Illusionary Realm. Since it’s an Illusionary Realm, let me think, what is Illusion Demon Island best at…” After a mocking laugh, Samantha’s gaze held a barely discernible probing intention, “So, is it related to you?”

Angel twitched at the corner of his mouth but still didn’t answer. The Awakened state of the Charm Demon almost killed Sinafa on the spot. If he admitted it, wouldn’t that mean all the disasters originated from him? Therefore, he absolutely could not admit it.

Angel dodged and evaded, not answering directly, which made Samantha a bit angry.

But Kanter, on the other hand, narrowed his eyes, recalling the “sea rhythm” previously mentioned by Sanders. It was indeed a creation of Angel’s… And now seeing his evasive behavior, Kanter guessed it all; this journey of experience was definitely his handiwork. Kanter was beginning to understand why Sanders always sounded so bitter whenever he mentioned Angel.

While Kanter had figured it out, he also saw Angel’s current predicament and mood. Admitting it would mean becoming an abettor to demons, so Kanter would not point it out. Instead, he said with a smile, “This journey of experience can awaken demons. How could Angel have the capacity to do that? Perhaps there is a mastermind helping behind the scenes.”

Kanter spoke and then, without waiting for Samantha’s response, switched the subject, “Our main purpose for coming here is not the journey of experience. This is not a pressing matter and can be asked anytime in the future. Right now, our main concern should be about Aoluxiya and this…night innkeeper.”

Kanter threw a glance at Angel. Angel, understanding, said, “Regarding Aoluxiya, I don’t know much indeed. I only know it’s an offspring of the Lord of the Flameless. It has a Fire Demon and a young Fire Demon by its side. The Fire Demon has been seen by Sinafa before, and the young Fire Demon…”

Angel’s thoughts went to the little fireball, his expression turning into a somewhat helpless smile, “The young Fire Demon won’t pose a threat to you; it’s a little demon.”

Samantha furrowed her brow; they already knew about the young Fire Demon and the Fire Demon, even their names had been dug out by Morheim previously.

Samantha interrupted him, “Do you know why Aoluxiya has come to Lassudral?”

Hearing this question, Angel hesitated for a moment.

Samantha caught the subtlety in Angel’s expression, “Do you know?”

Angel shook his head, “I don’t know, and Aoluxiya wouldn’t tell me.”

“So what are you hesitating about?”

Angel pondered for a moment. In fact, he had his suspicions about why Aoluxiya had come to Lassudral and even privately believed his suspicions were correct. But he was considering whether to voice them or not.

After all, Primeval Flame had given birth to the night innkeeper, and it was a fact that the night innkeeper had helped him, though Feng’s influence was involved, the one who had truly helped him for nothing was the night.

If he spoke out, would it affect the night innkeeper?

While Angel was contemplating, from the floating ice above, Monty looked at Sanders, “Angel knows more than I had imagined.”

Even though Angel had not yet answered, from his attitude, it was clear he likely knew some inside information.

Everyone’s expressions turned peculiar, contemplating how an Apprentice knew something even the prestigious Monty had not uncovered. Where had he gleaned this information from?

Moreover, when Samantha had asked him if he was the innkeeper, Angel had been equally evasive. Could he indeed be the innkeeper? And if so, was he the one behind the scenes aiding in the demons’ awakening?

Questions swirled in everyone’s heads, uncertain of the role Angel was playing in this grand play.

“How he came to know, I’m not sure. But let’s not forget, Angel is accompanied by an extremely powerful entity, whose identity remains unknown…” Sanders hinted at a role everyone had been overlooking, though it also seemed like deflecting attention, what he said was not wrong. The identity of the powerful entity was a mystery. What was the relationship between her and Angel?

Angel, a mere human, managed to hold his ground in Lassudral; could it be the doing of the powerful entity? What were the intents of this powerful entity?

However, even if they really suspected, they didn’t dare have Angel confirm it. After all, the powerful entity was listening to their conversation right then.

After a silence, the communicator finally transmitted Angel’s voice.

“The purpose of Aoluxiya’s arrival in Lassudral is likely related to the night innkeeper’s advancement,” Angel said with some reservation.

Samantha could tell that what Angel said was likely true, there was just some reservation, “The night innkeeper you mentioned, are you familiar with them?”

Angel, “I have met them.”

“In other respects, you haven’t learned from your mentor, but the way you leave room for yourself in your words is exactly like your mentor,” Samantha said with a smirk, implying that the so-called ‘having met’ was no different from having not answered at all. Whether you’re familiar with them or not is entirely up to Angel to decide. If he feels a question is appropriate, he’ll claim a higher degree of familiarity, but if he thinks the question is too sensitive, then he’ll claim it’s nothing more than a brief acquaintance.”

Angel gave an embarrassed smile but did not respond to Samantha’s sarcasm. After all, he knew that even if he remained silent from start to finish, Samantha wouldn’t lay a finger on him here.

Suppressing the urge to strike, Samantha asked coldly, “So what do you think? If we confront Aoluxiya, will this Night Club Owner take us on?”

This question was actually Monty’s primary concern. Much of the information Angel had mentioned was already known to Monty, and he even had some understanding of Aoluxiya. However, the identity of the “Night Club Owner,” who suddenly appeared, was extremely mysterious. Not only had Aoluxiya gone through the trouble of bringing him from the inner layers, but he was also the source of the current Flame Lock that sealed the Void.

If the Night Club Owner decided to take action against them, many things would have to be rearranged, and the risk would increase dramatically.

Angel furrowed his brows, “This is a subjective question. I am not the Night Club Owner, and I cannot guess his thoughts.”

“Then according to your own thoughts, what do you think he would choose?”

Angel wanted to continue deflecting the question but seeing Samantha’s expression growing so dark it seemed it could drip water, he thought it over and still made a somewhat reserved speculation, “The Night Club Owner is a Half-Blood Demon, and he has also been with humans before. In my view, the Night Club Owner doesn’t have a particular preference or aversion to humans or demons. If you don’t barge into the Hunting Museum, I think the Night Club Owner might not do much.”

Having said that, Angel added another line, “Of course, this is also my subjective opinion, and it might be wrong.”

Angel’s words struck like thunder.

Almost all the wizards were dumbfounded after hearing it. In their eyes, at best, a Half-Blood Demon could compete with an ordinary wizard; there had never been an example of one becoming a Demon Lord.

Even for a Half-Blood Demon to reach the level of Sanders was a legendary existence. And now, this Lord who was about to Ascend the Throne turned out to be a Half-Blood Demon?!

If it were a full-blooded demon, there would be a natural enmity with humans, but Half-Blood Demons were different. Many of them even collaborated with humans, like the Half-Blood Demons existing in some of the strongholds humans established on the surface, such as Undying Street. Originally, the Tomb Knights of the Undying Brigade were also composed of Half-Blood Demons.

On the surface of the drifting ice, although the Frostmoon Alliance was the main force, many others came from different Witcher Organizations. Upon learning this information, everyone’s thoughts became more active.

Listening to Angel’s tone, the Night Club Owner seemed to be not so hostile towards humans. If they could establish a relationship with the Night Club Owner, it would be helpful not only for themselves but also significantly beneficial for their own Wizard Organizations to gain a foothold in the Abyss.

After all, the resources of the Abyss were much more abundant than those in the Wizards’ Realm. The Abyss was nearly devoid of weaklings, and under the influence of expansive energy, too many ‘able resources’ were born. Currently, in the human forces of the Abyss, Frostmoon was the main power. If one could open their own channels through this, it would be a strategy for sustainable development!

With this in mind, everyone couldn’t help but look at Sanders with envy.

Angel was from the lineage of Illusion Demon Island, and it seemed he had already gained a head start!

Facing the jealous glances of the crowd, Sanders didn’t feel as optimistic inside. He was well aware that powerhouses of a certain caliber wouldn’t be manipulated by others. Looking at Monty or Nereus, aside from their surprise over the identity of the Half-Blood Demon, they hadn’t thought at all about further consequences.

For such powerful beings, maintaining a non-confrontational relationship upon meeting was already not easy, let alone taking it a step further?

However, after this exchange, Sanders gained a deeper understanding of Angel’s capacity for causing trouble.

After hearing Angel’s answer, Samantha was also surprised by the identity of the “Half-Blood Demon,” but what surprised her more was the tone of Angel’s voice, which clearly suggested he knew more about the Night Club Owner than they had imagined.

“It seems you are quite acquainted with this Night Club Owner,” Samantha said in a meaningful tone.

Angel’s response was still the ambiguous “we’ve met a few times.”

“Well, I believe that Lord Monty should now have a judgement.” Samantha knew that Angel undoubtedly still had reservations, but the information they had received so far suggested that the threat of the Night Club Owner might have been somewhat diminished.

However, they couldn’t take Angel’s word for it entirely.

Perhaps the Night Club Owner truly had no particular preference or aversion towards humans, but they didn’t know if there was any deeper connection between Aoluxiya and the Night Club Owner. Since Aoluxiya had come to Lassudral for the Night Club Owner, their current relationship might have changed and progressed.

This was something they would need to consider and weigh as well.

Though the situation was troubling and tangled like a ball of yarn, for a wizard, as long as they had information, even the most troublesome matters could be unraveled to find the truth and a shortcut. Their previous speculations had been chaotic because they lacked a reliable source of information, and Angel filled that gap.

However, Samantha had an intuition that all this seemed too coincidental, and perhaps there was a deeper layer to Angel’s role that could still be unearthed.
