Chapter 1108: Section 1109: Chaos Magic Energy Cannon

Maheer came to Monty’s side and whispered Mu Ying’s current situation, “… He’s barely holding on now, and the consequences of releasing the Demon would be unthinkable.”

Maheer spoke for quite a while but realized that Monty didn’t seem to be listening at all and was lost in thought instead.

“Lord Monty?”

Monty snapped back to reality, pondered for a moment, and nodded to Maheer, “In that case, take out the Chaos Mana Cannon, it has a longer activation time, let Mu Ying hold on a bit longer.”

Maheer nodded. The Chaos Mana Cannon was actually one of their trump cards, developed by the research institute of Sky Mechanical City and led by Muse. Five years ago, Monty visited the research institute and made a secret trade with Muse to get it.

The power of the Chaos Mana Cannon was strong enough to smash through even the continuous Void, and it was unavoidable, even if one hid in an alternate space.

But it had an activation time, about one minute or so. Such a long buffer was enough for an opponent to escape, so it was rarely used. On the other hand, it was very suitable for use on the three Demons bound by the puppet play.

Just as Maheer was about to proceed, Monty suddenly asked him a seemingly irrelevant question.

“Do you think Angel is watching this place right now?”

Maheer was puzzled, not understanding why Monty suddenly mentioned Angel. Wasn’t Angel currently under the responsibility of Samantha and Kanter?

Maheer’s mouth had just opened, trying to think of how to answer when Monty waved his wand, “Never mind, go on with your tasks.”

After Monty spoke, he walked with measured steps to Sanders’ side, leaving only his back to Maheer.

As Maheer went to retrieve the Chaos Mana Cannon, he looked back with a puzzled face and faintly saw Monty seemed to be saying something to Sanders.

On the ground, Angel had been waiting for an unexpected change.

The puppet play was absurd and bizarre, spinning the major Demons around in circles, but Mu Ying’s strength was ultimately not enough. If there wasn’t a change, he probably wouldn’t be able to hold on much longer.

Finally, as Mu Ying’s complexion became almost as pale as a dead person’s, Angel noticed a disturbance on the floating ice.

Maheer, holding a black case, approached the front of the battlefield under the heavy escort of the Frostmoon Guard Squad.

Maheer solemnly opened the black case, and the Frostmoon Guard Squad at that moment used powerful Defense Magic to encircle Maheer in the middle.

Angel curiously watched Maheer, wanting to see what he would take out of the black case.

Then he saw Maheer, with great caution, extract a deep gray cannonball.

The moment the cannonball touched the air, the surrounding space noticeably twisted, as though a dark and chaotic mist spread from an unknown Void, filling the distorted air.

Maheer’s fingertips lit up with a spark of light, and with a flick, the light fell into the cannonball… or more precisely, into the swirling gray mist, where it suddenly vanished.

Maheer held the cannonball in one hand, and gradually, the cannonball levitated.

From within the core of the deep gray cannonball, a faint orange light began to radiate. When this light shone forth, Angel felt his heart suddenly skip a beat.

An unbearable sensation of anxiety surged instantly.

Behind him, Fafnir’s expression also changed as he watched the cannonball, which was gradually transforming into an orange fireball, with a look of astonishment and doubt.

“This feeling of dread tells me,” Fafnir’s brows furrowed as the glow from the orange fireball reflected in his eyes, “its power is enough to threaten my life.”

Powerful enough to threaten Fafnir’s life?!

“What on earth is that?” Canaan exclaimed in shock.

“It’s something from Sky Mechanical City.” Angel hadn’t expected that the variable he had been waiting for would lead him to see a familiar symbol.

Angel pulled out a metal card from his bracelet.

The metal card was the access card for the research institute, and its emblem was identical to the emblem on the black case.

“Indeed, it’s a Mechanical Alchemy Weapon from the research institute,” Angel murmured with a hint of awe, previously unaware of any Sky Mechanical City wizards on the floating ice and assuming they were not part of Monty’s plan. It turned out they were supporting Monty in this way.

Angel briefly explained Sky Mechanical City’s matters, “Whatever the research institute develops, it’s either kept hidden or is powerful enough to influence an epochal change in the Wizards’ Realm. This cannonball is probably of the former kind, but its power…”

Its power didn’t need to be said by Angel, as Fafnir’s previous comment had already proven everything.

“Listening to the shopkeeper, the research institute seems to hold a high status. Why does the shopkeeper have an access card for the research institute?” Canaan’s gaze settled on the metal card in Angel’s hands, and Fafnir also looked over. Her doubts about Angel’s identity persisted—not only as an extra-terrestrial but also why Odeclass valued him so much?

Angel shrugged his shoulders, “I’m somewhat of a probationary researcher at the institute, although I have the access card, I’ve never been there…”

Canaan seemed to want to inquire more about the research institute, but Angel quickly shifted the topic, “With such a long activation time for this cannonball, it seems there are significant limitations to its use. However, it’s quite suitable for use on the major Demons trapped by the stage… Wait, look, the cannonball has been fired?!”

As Angel spoke, Maheer had already completely activated the Chaos Mana Cannon.

Now, the hovering cannonball that he held in his right hand had turned into a blazing sun, its intense heat even burning the surrounding space into black voids, like a chaotic hollow embracing the sun.

In just a short minute, Maheer’s condition was almost the same as Mu Ying’s, showing that activating the Chaos Mana Cannon was not a simple matter.

“Take down the Defense Magic!” Maher bellowed.

Surrounded by his Frostmoon Guard Squad, the heavy defense spells were immediately withdrawn, and at that moment, Maher loaded the artillery shell into a Magic Energy Cannon that appeared out of nowhere, aiming directly at the puppet stage and firing!

The aurora beam flashed by in an instant—

“Foolish idiot, get out of the way!” Yadasai, who had been paying attention to the commotion here, felt a sense of palpitations as soon as the Chaos Magic Cannon appeared, but Nereus had entangled him, leaving no way to convey the message to the Great Demon caught in the middle of the stage.

It was only when the artillery shell was fired and Nereus’s attention was momentarily diverted that Yadasai found the opportunity to shout out.

But it was too late.

In the midst of that terrifying beam of light, Yadasai couldn’t possibly rush onto the stage and could only watch, eyes wide open, as the intense brightness erupted.

Yadasai faintly heard several screams coming from the direction of the puppet stage, but they were quickly drowned out by a “humming sound.”

Not only that, at this moment, the entire heavens and earth were illuminated by the fierce white light. Everyone near the puppet stage was blinded by the dazzling white brightness.

Even Angel, whose consciousness had merged with the wind, couldn’t help but transfer his main consciousness back to the ground.

The white light continued, and for a time, both heaven and earth fell silent at this moment.

“Will they… die?” Canaan’s voice trembled slightly, and even though he wasn’t enveloped by the beam of light, the power of the attack still gave him an unprecedented shock.

Canaan had always thought humans were very weak. But now, whether it was the shop owner awakening the Perceiver with the Ocean’s Rhythm, the puppet stage, or this powerful artillery shell, every incident was telling him that humans were not as weak as he had imagined.

Canaan’s question, Angel could not answer; he could only wait for the white light to dissipate to know the specifics.

“Whether they will die is hard to say. Humans have their trump cards, but that doesn’t mean Demons don’t have theirs,” Fafnir said, looking at the dazzling white light in the sky. “After all, this is Lassudral, Demon’s home field, and no one knows what might happen.”

Angel’s heart stirred. Did Fafnir mean that there was still a possibility for the three Great Demons to be alive?

To survive such a powerful attack?

Angel himself didn’t believe it. After the artillery shell was fired, although he couldn’t see the specific situation on the stage, he clearly saw the trajectory of the shell shattering the entire space.

Angel had never seen such a powerful attack before.

He even suspected that if this weren’t the Abyss, where the spatial Laws were incredibly sturdy, if it had been an ordinary world, perhaps that one strike might have been enough to sink a continent or churn the oceans.

The three Great Demons had already been battered by the puppet stage; could they withstand such a powerful attack?

About half a minute passed, and the white light slowly faded away.

Angel transferred his main consciousness back into the wind in the sky.

Although this stream of wind was controlled by Fafnir, Angel could still feel the surrounding energy fluctuations even with just a sliver of his consciousness.

The nearby energy was now not just chaotic, but could even be described as “boiling,” indicating how terrifying the previous attack had been!

Angel turned his gaze to the location of the puppet stage. He wondered if the Great Demons could really survive under such circumstances?

The puppet stage had disappeared without a trace, and in its place was a grotesque, dark vortex.

Presumably, it was a Space Rift created by the impact of the artillery shell.

Around the dark vortex, there was emptiness, no sign of any life existing.

There was a cheer coming from the ice floe.

Angel turned to look back, noticing that the overall mood on the ice floe was clearly buoyant.

Mu Ying lay in a pool of blood, looking severely wounded, but his mouth was curled up at the corners; Maher was in bad shape too, but his eyes were shining, believing that eliminating three Great Demons in one fell swoop was worth the loss of a Chaos Magic Energy Cannon.

The other Wizards also appeared relaxed.

However, when Angel looked at Sanders, he noticed that Sanders was conversing with Monty beside him, his expression not as relaxed as the others.

As Angel wondered about this, Sanders suddenly looked up, his gaze finding Angel’s position.

His mouth opened slightly, whispering—

“Angel?”

A loud noise echoed in Angel’s mind, and he stared at Sanders, thinking with shock: Have I been discovered?

“How did Sanders discover me?” Before this thought could fully form, Angel suddenly noticed Sanders’s gaze shifting to the side—

At the same moment, the excited mood of the Wizards on the ice floe suddenly froze.

Angel followed Sanders’s gaze and saw a ray of light vaguely emerging from the black vortex that had appeared before.
