Warlock Apprentice

Chapter 1113: Section 1114: Fire Transmutation

“`

“He may possess some special talent,” Vifette said, and at the same time, Angel, deep in thought on the ground below, uttered the exact same words.

“What special talent?” Canaan asked, but Fafnir was also looking intently at Angel.

It was rare for Fafnir’s judgment to be flawed, so she too was eager to know what peculiar talent Winchester possessed.

“I once encountered a Wizard Apprentice with the ‘Water Transmutation’ talent. Her ability was to directly bestow new properties onto water.” Images of Xiliu flashed through Angel’s mind: “She was an opponent I met in an arena, nicknamed ‘The Slumbering Breath of Seeping Streams’…”

Angel spoke at length, recounting his initial encounter with Xiliu as well as the deeds she had done at the time.

This included how Xiliu had transformed water into oil during her battle with Angel at Sky Tower; how Sanders had mentioned that Xiliu turned water into a pot of poison to get through the Nine Chambers Bloodsport; and the time they encountered Son of the Ocean Jiebo in the Purification Garden, where Xiliu boiled the ‘ocean’ within his body…

The series of events was enough to demonstrate how terrifying Xiliu’s powers were.

But Angel also did not forget to mention that with every gain there is a cost, and after acquiring such extraordinary abilities, Xiliu became incredibly sleepy, dozing off without warning at any time, even in the midst of battle.

When Angel first faced Xiliu at Sky Tower, he was nearly beaten to a pulp. It was only because Xiliu fell asleep mid-fight that he was able to win.

After Angel finished speaking, Fafnir fell into deep thought, while Canaan looked terrified.

Canaan was a Water System Demon, made up entirely of water; if he encountered a wizard with the talent Angel described, one that could turn water into oil or magma, Canaan believed he would perish on the spot.

The fear in Canaan’s eyes was evident, and Angel consoled him in a low voice, “Xiliu is still just an Apprentice. It would be incredibly difficult for her to affect the water within a powerful being’s body. Even if you willingly let down your energy to let Xiliu try, she would exhaust her energy and likely not affect much at all.”

Words are one thing, but Xiliu is unlikely to remain an Apprentice forever. Once she advances to become an Official Wizard, she would essentially be the bane of all Water System Demons.

Contemplating this, Canaan couldn’t help but feel some apprehension towards this so-called ‘Water Transmutation’ talent. He secretly vowed that if he ever encountered such an individual, he would flee at the first opportunity.

On the other hand, after some thought, Fafnir turned to Angel and said, “So, you think he might have a similar special talent?”

Fafnir gestured towards Winchester’s figure in the Illusionary Realm.

Angel nodded in agreement, specifically cutting to a slow-motion segment of Winchester’s actions. In slow motion, Winchester’s movements became clearer, his body seemed to be enveloped in flowing light as he rapidly neutralized the flames. Upon closer inspection, one would find that, although the flames turned into flowing light, these streams of light had nothing to do with the flames—they were two entirely different concepts.

“Fire Transmutation?” Fafnir questioned.

Angel: “Perhaps so. That is my conjecture. While the flames contain wondrous rules, they are still fundamentally flames. Winchester remains unaffected because the very nature of the flames changes upon contact with him.”

“It reminds me of Xiliu.”

“And like her, he too, along with the talents he acquired, has accepted the misfortune and disaster that come with them.”

The inexplicable weakness and vomiting of blood—are somehow akin to Xiliu’s constant bouts of sleep.

“Now that you mention it, there is indeed some possibility,” Fafnir mused, nodding her head. Although she spoke of ‘Fire Transmutation,’ internally she pondered whether Winchester’s existence posed a threat to Odeclass if he truly possessed the Fire Transmutation talent.

When Fafnir thought this, her eyes narrowed, and she looked towards the sky at Winchester with a newfound sense of severity.

Moreover, she considered whether there might be Wind Transmutation as well as Water and Fire; such talents could pose a threat to her as well.

If Angel knew of Fafnir’s thoughts, he would probably reflect: Is it the elemental properties that make the Abyssal Dragon most formidable? Not at all—it’s that immensely powerful physical strength. Against this type of Talent-centric wizard, they could be effortlessly defeated by sheer brute strength without relying on elemental powers, not to mention wizards with this type of talent also have their flaws.

“We’re here! He’s in front of Komodo now!” Canaan exclaimed, “Will Komodo avoid him?”

Angel’s gaze returned to the sky once more.

There, Winchester was enveloped in a shimmer, with countless firefly-like lights flitting around him. Komodo, on the other hand, was shrouded in flames, his salamander-like head displaying a fierce expression.

The distance between them was less than a hundred meters.

Komodo still did not evade; to do so would mean the two great Demons behind him would suffer a deadly blow. And Komodo didn’t dodge, partly because it wanted to personally experience what this frail young man was doing amidst the fire.

Although Komodo could still command the flames after launching them, the sense of control blinked out the moment they reached the opponent’s vicinity. This feeling of control being forcibly stripped away was exceedingly uncomfortable for Komodo.

Komodo strained to spread out the flames, creating walls of fire that enveloped it in layer upon layer.

However, as Winchester charged forward, he completely disregarded these walls of flame. Furthermore, when he realized that these flames were connected to Komodo’s body, his eyes suddenly brightened—

“`

These flames incessantly melted into streams of light in Winchester’s hands.

This was within Komodo’s expectations.

However, what Komodo hadn’t anticipated was that while the outermost layer of flames turned into streams of light, the flames that were connected to its main body and even those associated with the source within it didn’t become streams of light but transformed into endless Frostbite.

At that time, Komodo was observing Winchester’s secret, even from such a close distance, yet it couldn’t discern the slightest clue. Its own flames had mysteriously turned into a faint stream of light by the opponent.

As Komodo was pondering the reason, it suddenly felt waves of bone-chilling cold within.

By the time it realized what was happening, its body was already filled with an icy aura that appeared like white vapor.

“What’s going on?” Komodo, a fire system Demon, hated and loathed the aura of Frostbite the most. Yet now, how had this Frostbite aura entered its body? And close to the source of its flames!

After a moment of stunned silence, Komodo immediately realized, Winchester had tampered with it!

“You can change the nature of flames?” Komodo came to its senses and asked in a tone of surprise and doubt, “Flames can not only turn into light but also Frostbite?”

After the flickering streams of light, Winchester’s pale, sickly complexion was revealed as he raised his eyebrows, “It’s not changing, just imparting a new property, like for example—”

Winchester drew up a cold smile, “Frostbite.”

With Winchester’s words, the Frostbite aura inside Komodo’s body burst forth in an instant.

The boundless chill caused Komodo to feel an indescribable agony, as if someone was tearing its flesh apart. This terrible feeling was something Komodo had never experienced before.

It was while Komodo’s body showed abnormalities that the Dragon of Darkness hidden behind Winchester finally revealed its ferocious face. After a sky-shaking roar, Issac transformed into the Black Dragon Phantom, enveloping the long-brewing energy and fiercely slammed it into Komodo’s chest.

Komodo spewed out blood mixed with ice and flames, then with a series of crackling sounds of breaking bones from its chest, it was sent flying.

Issac had a tinge of regret in his eyes; he had used all his strength, aiming to pierce through Komodo’s chest with one blow, yet he didn’t expect Komodo’s hide to be so thick. It only broke its ribs but failed to push it into a state of certain death.

But it was enough. As long as Komodo lost its fighting capability for a short time, the goal was achieved.

Their main target now was Urdixinos and Minotaur! As long as they killed these two great Demons, dealing with Komodo later would also suffice.

Thinking of this, Issac’s gaze shifted to the two Blood Cocoons floating in the air not far away.

Previously, Urdixinos and Minotaur were severely injured by the Magic Energy Cannon of Chaos. Even if they survived with their crippled bodies, they could neither move nor act, and they must wait until their bodies healed to a certain extent before resuming activity.

To achieve this goal swiftly, they both chose to transform into Blood Cocoons. While in this state, their resistance was at its lowest, necessitating protection from their allies, and Komodo was their previous guardian.

Now that Komodo was severely injured, the Blood Cocoon became undefended.

The Black Dragon Phantom behind Issac, with deep light flashing in its massive eyes, exhaled a dark breath that formed a colossal energy sphere – like the true gaze of a dragon, instantly lethal upon sight!

The black energy sphere transformed into a beam, shooting toward the Blood Cocoon.

The black beam successfully hit the Blood Cocoon. However, being the repair method of a great Demon, the cocoon still had some defensive power, and it couldn’t be completely pierced at once, so Issac had to increase the energy density.

At the same time, the Wizards who had been cowering and not daring to approach earlier were now assembling their powers.

They knew well how to choose what was most beneficial for them. Their previous “strategic retreat” and the present “combined effort” to break the outer wall of the Blood Cocoon were the best choices between the scales of profit-seeking and self-preservation.

Countless energies converged, and Spell Techniques were unleashed. Under these circumstances, the state of the Blood Cocoon was perilous.

However, once the vast energies were released, and the dust and debris settled, what appeared wasn’t a shattered Blood Cocoon but an unknown ominous cloud creeping over from the distant horizon.

Within the clouds, it seemed like Lightning Serpents were slithering.

The humidity of the surrounding air also rose rapidly.

As all the Wizards were focused on the specific situation of the Blood Cocoon, a sinister sound came from the clouds—

“Drip-drop, drip-drop.”
