Undead Mage from a Cell

Chapter 741: Chapter 739: The Nearly Level 30 Ghost

Glancing at the information in his hand, Gu Xi proceeded to take out his equipment.

As he was about to head towards the East Willow Cemetery, an old man stopped Gu Xi.

”Be careful, don’t show any hostility. The ghosts inside have already activated all their abilities, possibly stronger than when they were alive. Your power is too weak; if you displease the ghosts, I won’t be able to save you.”

Gu Xi merely smiled without saying anything and headed towards the gate of the East Willow Cemetery with his Illusion Magic Wand.

Before he even got close to the gate, Gu Xi felt a surge of intense heat coming towards him, and he also saw a hill covered with willows with red leaves at the East Willow Cemetery’s location.

The scorching heat was emanating from these willows.

It was precisely because of these willows that the place was called East Willow Cemetery.

Gu Xi extended his left hand, and three Equipment Carriers appeared beside him.

Then, with his hands behind his back, he stepped forward.

In the next moment, everything in front of Gu Xi changed; the willows he once saw now looked different. The willows were still there, but their leaves had turned a kind of grayish-green, and a large number of skulls appeared under the trees.

Ghost Realm?

Gu Xi immediately recognized the change.

After all, he had several Death Incarnations under him who had mastered Ghost Realm transformations.

Not to mention that his own Death Incarnations could release a Ghost Realm Battlefield at any moment, the Earth-bound Deceitful Dragon beneath the steel city gate already had a well-formed Ghost Realm.

The Ghost Realm in front didn’t scare Gu Xi at all.

He looked up to check the direction, confirmed there were no ”Ghost Walls” or similar traps, and then walked in boldly.

At this moment, Gu Xi’s body emanated an aura from the Death Lord.

As his aura spread, a ghost floated out from the depths of the East Willow Cemetery.

This ghost was clad in scale armor, holding a war axe in one hand and a warhammer in the other.

As he floated in the air, a phantom of a strong wind appeared behind him, clearly indicating he had mastered the power of wind when he was alive.

As the ghost appeared, Gu Xi’s first action was to look at the top of the ghost’s head.

Upon confirming that there was a friendly green above the ghost’s head, Gu Xi finally sighed in relief.

”Hello, Mr. Liu Baiwei, my name is Gu Xi. Can we talk?”

Gu Xi was considering subduing this ghost.

But now was not the time to say that.

Gu Xi needed to ensure his safety first to have a chance to subdue this entity, whom he considered a master-level undead.

Otherwise, he might get killed before he could even speak, which would be unfortunate.

Due to the Death Lord’s effect, Liu Baiwei didn’t attack Gu Xi. Instead, he said to Gu Xi, ”Leave, you can’t interfere with my affairs.”

Gu Xi was stunned and couldn’t help but feel anxious.

”Can you tell me about it? I’ve heard about you and read your dossier. You’ve been asleep for hundreds of years, so there shouldn’t be any reason for you to suddenly wake up and cause such a commotion.

Is there some unresolved obsession at play here?”

”How should I put it?” Liu Baiwei didn’t mind telling his story to Gu Xi.

On one hand, Gu Xi made him feel comfortable; on the other hand, the trouble he was causing was due to some underlying demands. Otherwise, why would he cause such a big fuss?

He’s not just idly returning as an undead because he’s uncomfortable after death.

”The reason I awoke from my slumber is because a keepsake I sent out back then was destroyed. I made it in my lifetime and gifted it to a girl I liked.

She had more potential than I did. By the time I died, she had already advanced to Level 30. If she were alive today, she would probably be pushing Level 45.

I don’t know what happened to her; I just sensed that the item I gave her was destroyed, and she might be in trouble too. I want to see her and protect her as she enters Yellow Springs.

Or even protect her.

But given my current condition, I can’t get out.

And even if I could, I might not be able to reach her in time.”

Listening to Liu Baiwei, Gu Xi felt a bit speechless.

On his way here, Gu Xi considered numerous possibilities.

Perhaps someone tampered with his body, or a blood sacrifice was involved. Or maybe his descendants lifted the coffin lid.

Causing this ancient ghost to be drawn out.

But he never expected it to be something like this.

Faced with such a situation, what could he say? All he could do was commend Liu Baiwei as a true romantic; even in death, he remembered his goddess.

”I see, I can help convey your concerns, but can you suppress the death qi here a bit, to avoid disturbing other corpses?”

Gu Xi knew that the situation hadn’t escalated yet. As long as he could spread the word and find someone to handle it, the issue could be resolved.

As for handling it personally, Gu Xi wasn’t that foolish.

This wasn’t just about a Level 29 ghost anymore.

This could potentially involve someone close to Level 45, equivalent to the Great Monarch on Gu Xi’s side.

Even if Gu Xi was reckless, he couldn’t manage this alone.

He could only report it upwards.

Gu Xi believed if the leaders of Qianfang City knew what was happening here, they would have ways to handle it.

Liu Baiwei was also quite satisfied with Gu Xi’s arrangement.

At least Gu Xi could communicate with him and propose a solution that pleased him.

Unlike the previous undead mages, who thought of suppressing him as soon as they came.

Did they not consider that if he could be suppressed, a task wouldn’t be issued in the first place?

”Liu Baiwei, you wait for me here. I’ll go explain the situation; rest assured,

After I’ve clarified the situation to others, I’ll return. I won’t leave until your issue is resolved.”

Gu Xi spoke with absolute righteousness.

Actually, Gu Xi was clear that this was a golden opportunity.

Even if he couldn’t subdue Liu Baiwei, Gu Xi could obtain many benefits from him.

After all, entities above Level 20 with whom one can communicate are extremely rare.

In Bailian City, Gu Xi wouldn’t encounter such a chance.

No way would Gu Xi pass up this rare opportunity.

Now, what he wanted most was to have more exchanges with Liu Baiwei.

To see if he could learn something different from him.

Of course, subduing Liu Baiwei would be ideal, but if not, he at least wanted to gain some experience from him.

Gu Xi’s actions were acknowledged by Liu Baiwei, who nodded in satisfaction and said to Gu Xi.

”Alright, I’ll suppress my instincts for now. As long as I get an answer, I can ensure the East Willow Cemetery remains peaceful.”
