Chapter 944: Chapter 188: Encounter

Remember, this train conductor Cage was supposed to follow me, but when Bucky had him go ahead to meet up with his crew, a bunch of plainclothes officers suddenly appeared.

At that moment, Bucky thought there was no way he could bother with Cage, so he quickly made a run for it himself.

A whole slew of events happened after that, and if not for running into him here today, Bucky probably would have completely forgotten about the guy.

Bucky basically forgot some of the promises he made to Cage, but the phrase ‘my boss Bucky’ left quite an impression on him!

“Get lost if you don’t want to die, okay?” the heavily tattooed youth said, holding an iron pipe, patting it against his palm, as he walked up to Bucky.

“Hah, is this how the boys in the game are nowadays? Way worse than back in the day.” Bucky sighed, “I really wonder how your boss teaches you.”

“I am the boss.” The youth sneered, “Looks like you’re looking for trouble… You know this guy, huh? He stole money from me. I taught him a lesson. You got a problem with that?”

“You already beat him up, just let it go.” Bucky said calmly, “Friend, give me some face. We’re all in the same game. We bump into each other all the time. You never know, we might end up working together in the future.”

“Then let me make YOU bow down before me!” The vicious youth said as he swung the iron pipe in his hand, “Dammit, dare to act tough in front of me!”

Unexpectedly, Bucky easily caught the swinging iron pipe, holding it firmly in his hand. The vicious youth was stunned and tried to pull the weapon back with great force, but found that once Bucky grasped it, it wouldn’t budge an inch!

“Ignore my leniency, then don’t blame me!” Bucky sneered, “Talking about rules with me? When I was in the game, you lot were still peeking at hookers eating meat/rice… rookies!”

With that, Bucky kicked directly, landing a powerful blow to the youth’s belly — the force sent him flying more than two meters away!

The young man lay on the ground, writhing in pain, before frothing at the mouth and passing out.

Seeing this, the remaining young men moved in, but Bucky immediately bent the iron pipe he had just snatched in front of them and tossed it casually to the ground.

He gestured with a sinister smile on his face, “If you’re not afraid to die… come at me!”

Bucky’s words instantly scared the color out of the young men’s faces. Someone shouted, and the group scattered, turning to run into the alleyway.

“Pathetic.”

Bucky sighed, lamenting that the young thugs these days were not what they used to be, as he walked up to Cage, helping him up, “You okay… didn’t expect you to be this heavy?”

“You are…?” Cage, eyes swollen from the beating, looked in shock at the man who helped him.

There was no doubt this guy was well-dressed, charming, probably someone with money… What was he doing in a place full of riffraff instead of some upscale club?

And on top of that, he actually stepped in to help him?

Bucky laughed, “Because my boss is also Bucky!”

Cage was taken aback, then suddenly hugged Bucky’s leg, crying, “I finally found the organization! Boss Bucky, I finally found out about you!”

“Hey, hey…”

…

This guy looks like he hasn’t had a proper meal for days.

In the hospital’s outdoor café, Bucky was sipping a frozen drink through a straw, watching in amazement as Cage, heavily bandaged, devoured his food, “Let me know if you need more…”

“Another serving of roasted steak, please!” Cage showed no sign of politeness — on the way here, he acted like he was Bucky’s lifesaver.

From the conversation along the way, Bucky finally understood what happened after he was betrayed and Cage was captured that day.

It turns out, the hidden cops mistook Cage for Bucky and, in their rage, gave him a brutal lesson before throwing him into the holding cell.

It was only after Cage got himself a lawyer and went through many hurdles that he finally got bailed out. His explanation to the police was — he was coerced by Bucky under threat of life, and that’s why he reluctantly helped Bucky escape.

The police seemed to buy his story after checking Cage’s files, and eventually let him go — but that was just the beginning of Cage’s troubles.

First, Cage lost his job because he helped a felon escape with a prison van.

When he got bailed out, he discovered his wife had run off with another man, taking their daughter with her — the house was in her name from their marriage, and it had already been sold, leaving Cage on the street.

Jobless, homeless, and finding the joint account empty, Cage became penniless, and even owed a sizeable amount for legal fees.

Financial pressure forced Cage into a life of crime — he started by robbing pedestrians, and after succeeding a few times, he got bolder.

Today, he saw a promising target for theft, but didn’t expect the woman he tried to rob was the girlfriend of a minor gang leader in the area.

That did it; Cage was chased into the alley and beaten mercilessly.

Cage suddenly opened his greasy mouth and asked, “Was it Boss Bucky who sent you to save me this time? I knew it! Boss Bucky is all about loyalty, he wouldn’t just abandon me!”

Hmm…

“Of course! Our Boss Bucky is known for his loyalty, the whole world knows that! It’s a privilege to know such a great boss in my life!” Bucky felt neither guilty nor blushed as he said this.

Probably from all the times he’s conned followers?

“Is Boss Bucky alright now? Is he safe?” Cage asked nervously, “I saw a lot of people trying to catch him that day!”

“He’s fine now, very safe, doing well, no need to worry,” Bucky replied casually… Hmm, he finally remembered what he promised Cage back then.

“So… can I go see Boss Bucky then?” Cage looked at him, full of hope.

Bucky shook his head, “I’m afraid not. I… Boss Bucky, he’s got some important things to do right now, not convenient to show up. Hmm… when this period passes, I’ll let him know.”

“Yeah, I thought as much. It must be because some traitor set Boss Bucky up, and he’s gonna get revenge himself.” Cage nodded, “It’s a shame I can’t help Boss Bucky in any way! If I could be by his side, I’d definitely lend him a hand!”

Didn’t see that coming… This guy is that loyal?

Bucky chuckled, “It’s rare for someone to have your heart, I bet the boss will be very happy to know.”

“Right?” Cage hurriedly wiped his mouth, leaning forward, “Let me tell you, brother… Oh right, I forgot to ask your name along the way. How should I call you, brother?”

“Me? Ba…”

“Ba?”

Bucky instinctively started to say, then turned around, cleared his throat, “Just call me Kiba.”

“Oh, it’s Brother Kiba!” Cage nodded, “Brother Kiba… oh, wait, Boss Kiba! Thanks for saving me, from now on, I’ll roll with you! I’ve thought it over, since I already promised Boss Bucky to follow him, and he promised me too. But since Boss Bucky isn’t around, and Boss Kiba, you’re his trusted aide, following you is the same!”

This might be a talent? How come I didn’t see it before?

Bucky shivered suddenly, got up quickly, “Oh, take your time eating, I just remembered something urgent I need to take care of! Extremely urgent! I got the bill, don’t worry about it!”

“No, Boss Kiba!” Unexpectedly, Cage suddenly lunged to the ground with a speed completely unfitting with his bloated physique, and hugged Bucky’s leg tightly, “Boss Kiba, please don’t abandon me! If you leave me behind, my life will truly be over!”

“Hey hey…” Bucky tugged at his leg but found he couldn’t move it?!

“For Boss Bucky, my wife and kids ran away with someone else! But I have never regretted it!” Cage wailed, tears and snot flowing, “I’ve never regretted it! All along, I felt my life was dull and tasteless! Until that day when I met Boss Bucky! He opened the door to a new world for me, he made me realize there are such wonderful things in this world! I will never forget what happened that night!”

“Hey hey…” Bucky even used both hands, but still couldn’t free his leg from Cage’s tight embrace.

But that wasn’t the worst—the worst was the strange looks the diners gave along with the whispering voices.

Wife and kids ran away… because of a Boss Bucky?

Opening the door to the new world and whatnot… was it your first time going out at night?

And never able to forget the wonderful things from that night… weren’t you just seduced by a banshee and drained of your essence qi, why make it sound like I did it… Damn!!

“Wow wow! You can’t just abandon me like this! I’m already homeless now!”

Don’t wipe your snot on my pant leg, you bastard!!!!

“Dad, what are those two uncles doing?”

“Shh, kids shouldn’t look!”

“Those two men, so disgusting~”

Whispering, whispering, whispering.

“Enough!!” At this point, Bucky shouted, not only startling Cage but also surprising the diners nearby.

“Damn it, alright! I’ll take you in! Now get up quickly!” Bucky said swiftly, “Still feel like you’re not embarrassed enough leaving here with me?”

“Oh oh!! Yes, Boss Bucky!!”

…

…

The car swung its tail and with an extremely elegant maneuver reversed into the parking spot, fully showcasing Mr. Isam’s driving skills—but this wasn’t the time for admiration as the old nun’s situation was already very critical.

After getting out of the car, Mr. Isam hurriedly carried the old nun horizontally and rushed inside.

The contact was already made via phone, and emergency personnel were waiting early.

“I’m not going in.” Unexpectedly, Lucifer suddenly stopped.

Charlotte didn’t have the mood to argue with Lucifer at this moment, just frowned slightly, “Don’t stray too far from us!”

“I know, can’t run away.” Lucifer shook his head, saying calmly, “As long as it’s not the old nun, I can’t stay far from her… I just don’t like the smell here.”

“You don’t like the smell of medicine?” Charlotte was stunned.

Lucifer expressed distaste, “There’s clergy in the hospital, I can sense it… probably praying for the dead. I dislike Holy Light, hate it intensely! So I’ll just stay outside.”

At this time, Uncle Isam in front turned around and said, “Charlotte, hurry up, what are you standing still for?”

“Coming!”

Still, the nun’s illness was more important, at this moment Charlotte gritted her teeth, then quickly recited a spell imprinted in her mind.

Lucifer frowned, suddenly her body felt heavy, she struggled to walk to a nearby bench and sat down, gasping for air.

“Sorry, but you wait here for me!” Charlotte said quickly, then hurriedly followed Uncle Isam inside.

Watching Charlotte’s disappearing back, Lucifer tried with effort to lift her hand, but only managed a little before it was drawn down by the earth like gravity, instantly dropping.

The Queen of Hell’s eyes flickered with terrifying cold gleams, “Gabriel, you wait for me…”

…

“Boss Kiba, where are we going now? I don’t have anywhere to stay now, look…”

After leaving the hospital’s restaurant, Bucky was thinking about how to get rid of Cage… but it seemed not such an easy task.

Hmm, take a trip to the restroom, then come out with a false face in a new identity… let’s decide on that!

“Cage, wait here for me, I’m going to the restroom!” Bucky said swiftly.

But before Cage could react, Bucky was already walking directly towards the restroom—yet at this moment, urgent calls came from the corridor.

“Let us through, please let us through! Critical patient! Please let us through!”

The doctor led the way in front, followed by nurses pushing a mobile hospital bed, there seemed to be a burly man and a nun, rushing in.

Bucky accidentally got knocked to the ground, simultaneously the nun who bumped into Bucky also fell to the ground.

“Hey! Don’t you watch where you’re walking? You knocked my boss down, don’t you know?” Cage immediately shouted, quickly helping Bucky up.

Bucky frowned, looking at the nun who had fallen with him, frowning again.

The man also stopped, “Charlotte, are you alright?”

Charlotte, having hit the ground, her veil fell, her long hair hung naturally down, she inadvertently lifted her head, too worried about the nun’s condition, her eyes were already red, a bit blurry.

Bucky glanced, his gaze slightly contracted, his heart suddenly started pounding.

“Sorry, sorry!” Charlotte quickly apologized, then got up and chased after—the hospital bed had already entered the elevator.

“Damn, what kind of person is that, even a nun! No manners at all… Boss Kiba, are you alright?” Cage asked while dusting off Bucky’s clothes.

Seeing Bucky bending down to pick up the fallen veil, taking a deep breath, suddenly said, “Cage, didn’t you say you wanted to follow me… I now have something for you to do.”

“Boss Kiba! What do you want to do!”

“Go check out the name of that young nun just now, what she likes to eat, where she lives…” Bucky slowly turned to look at Cage, “I seem to have fallen in love…”
