Chapter 895: Chapter 139: The Bond of the Immortals (6)

Boom—boom—boom—!

In the midst of the flames, Tu Shenyi saw an unforgettable scene, one that was typically only seen in sci-fi movies… a battle beyond the limits of the human body.

In the snow-covered forest, Karen… This was the Karen he knew… was she the one he had embraced and kissed?

Tu Shenyi didn’t know.

She moved like a war machine, running at an unimaginable speed… lowering her body, she ran with the Longsword as if she were a cheetah on the snowy plain.

At the same time, he witnessed a man with a tattooed face suddenly sprout dense fur, grow sharp canine teeth and lethal claws, transforming into a werewolf straight out of a horror story.

She was fighting them… yes, she was battling beyond Tu Shenyi’s comprehension.

He even saw her lips, the ones that had kissed him, reveal sharp fangs, and in an instant, Tu Shenyi thought of a name: bloodsucker.

“Descendant of the Yexiel Family, Karen Yisheer, your head is quite valuable!”

The Hunter, suppressing the fire with a huge hunting gun, was biting a cigar and laughed wildly, then released a powerful shot from behind.

Karen leaped high, landing beneath the trunk of a large tree, looking coldly downward, “Are you just werewolves? I thought you were formal exorcists, turns out you’re fearless bounty hunters.”

The man with the huge hunting gun laughed heartily, “We are merely sharing the burden of the big shots.”

Karen just sneered, for she knew if they were truly exorcists, there would be some scruples, but if they were bounty hunters, they would stop at nothing.

These guys, most of them are scum, wandering among the dark creatures, seeking profit… she glanced secretly at Tu Shenyi hiding behind a tree trunk, knowing it was time for her to leave.

Just like decades ago, she left the young man who promised to paint her a beautiful picture.

Bloodsuckers are cold creatures, but this doesn’t mean their hearts are cold too… Over the long passage of time, they too seek the meaning of their existence or a person to love.

These few decades have been an emotional void for Karen, and meeting Tu Shenyi was fate’s best Christmas gift to her.

“It seems you care about this man a lot? Then I’m afraid I’ll have to apologize!”

At this moment, only the tattooed man who transformed into a werewolf laughed grimly, then suddenly leaped forward. Werewolves possess excellent jumping ability, and in a flash, he landed in front of Tu Shenyi, his heavy body hitting the ground like a pile driver.

The werewolf swung its claw fiercely, Tu Shenyi’s heart skipped a beat, swiftly retreating to dodge… he was in such a hurry that he tripped over a rock behind him and fell to the ground.

The claws hit the tree trunk, and the thick trunk was instantly clawed down halfway before toppling over, rumbling down—!

“Rather than being sucked dry by this woman, it’s better for me to end you here, let you die as a man… hahaha!!” The werewolf’s eyes were bloodthirsty, raising the claws in his hand.

“You dare!”

Suddenly, a cold voice exploded in the werewolf’s ear, causing him to instinctively turn, only to see a large explosion of red light before him.

In the snow, the female bloodsucker marked as their prey had hair flying and blood-red steam erupting from her body, even her eyes were a demonic red.

The werewolf only felt the red light flash over him from top to bottom, and in that moment, he felt his vision start to divide… yes, like the mainland suddenly being split in half!

Splash…

From top to bottom, the werewolf’s body was neatly sliced into two parts, each falling to the sides… After falling, nothing stood between Tu Shenyi and Karen.

He saw her in the bloody steam, both terrifying and enchanting, and she saw him pale on the ground.

Karen said nothing, just turned and leaped, catching up with the black-robed Priest. The Priest frantically clutched the cross on his body, as darkness saw a faint golden sphere appear beside him.

This might be his means of survival… because when the sphere appeared, the black-robed Priest’s expression visibly relaxed, except he didn’t expect that the faint golden shield, would be easily sliced open by Karen.

“Do-don’t come any closer…” The black-robed Priest instantly turned to flee.

But Karen reached into the Void with her hand, directly grabbing the black-robed Priest to her side, she instantly tilted her head, opened her mouth, and released a terrifying roar… biting down.

The black-robed Priest emitted a painful scream… People often say that bloodsuckers are elegant in sucking blood, but at this moment he only felt his body’s blood rapidly being drained, accompanied by a sharp nerve pain, as if falling into a forest of steel needles, almost instantly his mind collapsed!

“You monster!!!!”

Of the Bounty Hunters, only one Hunter remained, holding his huge hunting gun, shouting, firing crazily, and quickly advancing toward Karen.

Special bullets shot out and exploded before Karen… finally, smoke and dust transformed into a huge black veil, covering everything.

Having emptied the bullets in his gun, he stopped, reloading while nervously staring at the smoke ahead.

At that moment, a bloody light shot out… it was a Longsword with blood-red patterns.

The Longsword pierced the Hunter’s chest directly, flying him backward as it penetrated, pinning his body against the trunk of a large tree.

The Hunter sat on the ground, his body unable to move anymore, glaring resentfully at Karen within the dissipating smoke, full of venomous gaze, before finally coughing up blood and lowering his head.

Karen raised her head, and at this time, some snowflakes began to fall, melting instantly at her side, but also cooling her body as, when her blood-red steam finally dispersed, Karen slowly opened her eyes.

She quickly turned to look.

Tu Shenyi hadn’t left, cautiously approaching, prompting Karen to subconsciously move toward him. However, Tu Shenyi suddenly stopped.

Karen paused, and so did she.

She saw the hesitation and fear in this man’s eyes… this kind of gaze made her feel fear too.

Looking at each other for a moment, Karen finally sighed, “You can leave, I won’t appear before you again.”

Tu Shenyi remained silent for a long time before finally asking, “Are you… are you really a bloodsucker?”

“Haven’t you already seen?” Karen responded calmly.

With that, she turned and walked to the side of the Hunter, pulled out the pinned sword, then glanced back at Tu Shenyi, before heading into the forest.

“Wait a moment.”

Karen turned around.

Tu Shenyi suddenly said, “I finally understand why you always leave before dawn… But now you’re leaving, and it’s not even dawn yet? It’s too early!”

“You… you’re not afraid?”

“I’m afraid of you not being here.”

…

It’s modern times now; don’t underestimate modern people’s ability to accept the inexplicable—this was Tu Shenyi’s superficial, light-hearted reason given on the way back.

But with the change of identity, there exists an invisible barrier between the two of them.

This is Karen’s apartment rented in Parlin, a very exquisite house, in the living room, Tu Shenyi sat opposite Karen… It seemed like a safe distance—psychologically.

“Let me think…” Tu Shenyi rubbed his temples at this moment, “You’re a bloodsucker, the people chasing you in the snow forest earlier were Bounty Hunters. There’s a price on your head, so they want your head… Who is it that’s after you?”

“Exorcists’ Association.”

“Right… Exorcists’ Association.” Tu Shenyi bit his finger joint, pondering slightly, “So, your enemies are many, the Exorcists’ Association… and those guys were Bounty Hunters, another group?”

“Theoretically, yes.” Karen nodded.

Tu Shenyi quickly glanced at her, then lowered his head to look at the floor, pretending to continue thinking, “Then… are you planning to suck, suck… my… blood?”

Karen said coldly, “I did have such plans, but those guys ruined it, I’m not in the mood right now… Though it might not matter, once I’m hungry, I naturally won’t care about my mood. So I advise you to get as far away as possible before I get hungry.”

Tu Shenyi suddenly asked, “Apart from sucking blood, is there really nothing else a bloodsucker can eat as a substitute?”

Karen replied coldly, “Have you heard of bloodsuckers who don’t need to suck blood?”

She suddenly opened her mouth, revealing her bloodsucking fangs in front of Tu Shenyi, her eyes turned blood red, emitting a low growl.

“Wait, you’re… you’re not hungry now, are you?” Tu Shenyi quickly stood up, fearfully gesturing with his hand, “Calm down, calm down…”

Karen sighed and retracted her bloodsucker features, “Tu… are you enjoying this?”

Tu Shenyi remained silent.

“You were clearly scared to death.” Karen shook her head, “By forcing yourself to accept this, in my opinion, it’s not something that pleases me, it just makes me feel worse. You should leave… we’re finished here, staying by my side will be very dangerous. You saw it, those Bounty Hunters… once the first group finds me, there will naturally be a second and third group. As long as I’m alive, the people hunting me will never be few, you simply can’t deal with those guys.”

“You’re… you’re right.” Tu Shenyi nodded, as if trying to persuade himself, muttering, “Nothing is more important than one’s own life, staying just burdens you… I… I should leave. I’ll go now.”

Tu Shenyi turned and left.

As Tu Shenyi placed his hand on the door lock, about to turn it, Karen moved her lips, finally refraining from saying words to make him stay, she lowered her head.

“Goodbye…”

The sound of the door opening and closing.

Karen suddenly raised her head, but the door was already closed. She stared blankly, subconsciously raising her hand, waving it lightly, and murmured, “Goodbye…”

She sighed, smiled slightly, then took out a 1 Markem coin from her bosom, placed it on the table, and spun it, quietly watching it.

Suddenly, she recalled the sound of the door lock turning.

Tu Shenyi hurriedly walked back in, under Karen’s surprise, heading towards the sofa with his head lowered, “I… forgot my jacket.”

His jacket indeed lay on the sofa, Karen glanced at it, then nodded quietly.

Tu Shenyi put on his jacket, once again walked to the door, ready to leave… he probably should truly leave, but he stopped.

“Does it have to be fresh human blood?”

“What?”

“I mean…” Tu Shenyi spoke quickly with his head lowered, back to her, “It must, can only, have to be fresh human blood? Or does it really have to be human blood? Can animal blood work? Can the blood from a hospital blood bank work?”

Karen moved her lips.

Tu Shenyi slowly turned around, with a fervent gaze, “Actually, what I’m trying to say is… can you give me some time to adapt?”

“Did you know?” Karen looked at Tu Shenyi, spoke slowly, “For us, there comes a time when we yearn to drink the blood of the ones we love, lovers, parents, children, siblings… it is a nearly insane longing, uncontrollable, irresistible, just like a curse. We avoid letting ourselves fall into such pain, but we also cannot prevent it from happening.”

She covered her chest, whispered, “Here, here it feels like there’s an unbottomed abyss… it needs something to fill it, desperately needs it, even if you defy its wishes, it will always make you suddenly fall for someone… and drown you in that sea of pain.”

“Then… let me become like you.”

Tu Shenyi suddenly rushed forward, hugged Karen tightly, whispered beside her ear, “My adoptive parents have passed away, I grew up in an orphanage, I have no parents, nor do I have relatives. To say I love someone, it’s only you… you’re a bloodsucker right? I could never suck your blood.”

“Your idea is too naive.” Karen shook her head, gently pushed Tu Shenyi away, then hugged herself tightly with both hands, turned away, “You should go, while I… while I can still endure.”

Tu Shenyi gently embraced her again, whispered beside Karen’s ear, “Did you know, actually, I’m a bloodsucker too.”

“Stop joking.” Karen shook her head.

“I’m not joking.”

Tu Shenyi earnestly said, “Not just myself, humans are actually a different kind of bloodsucker in a sense. We crazily seek wealth, emotions, plunder the mainland’s resources, we extend our fangs to everything we can see, driven by desire, we will stop at nothing, we will even harm others, those we love… we are always consuming another kind of blood. So…”

He circled around Karen to face her, held her face, deeply said, “I am a bloodsucker too, we are the same. I have no reason to fear you.”

He lowered his head and kissed her.
