Three Towers Game

Chapter 1171: Chapter 364: Fierce Battle (Part 3)

[Your overtime application has been rejected by the boss after reconsideration.]

Clark feels the same way.

[Your overtime application has been rejected by the boss after reconsideration.]

Both are somewhat puzzled. Overtime rejected?

As a boss, shouldn’t you be figuring out ways to encourage us to work overtime?

Only Shen Changfeng received approval for his overtime application.

[Permission granted for overtime.]

Li Weiwei, dissatisfied, directly approached Wen Xishu and said:

”Boss, why won’t you let me work overtime?”

Wen Xishu anticipated that his second-in-command would come to inquire. He calmly responded:

”Overtime brings scores, but what about the cost? You don’t think that HP points are only deducted during regular work, do you?”

Li Weiwei was stunned.

Wen Xishu continued:

”Firstly, although you are very capable, you do get tired. But Changfeng doesn’t; Changfeng may not have the kind of leadership capacity you do to manage a community, but his ability, on a mental level, is inherently suited for overtime, making him the best test model.”

Li Weiwei seemed to understand a bit.

Her expression began to soften.

Wen Xishu continued:

”I need to test the impact of the dr value on a person’s mental state, so I require someone whose spirit objectively doesn’t fluctuate or show signs of mental fatigue.”

”This person cannot be you, because although you have a strong inner self, you also get tired.”

Li Weiwei nodded, realizing it was true.

Indeed, Shen Changfeng wouldn’t, with this ironman-like attribute, not feeling fatigue...

Wen Xishu further stated:

”Despite rules encouraging us to work overtime, I won’t agree to overtime until I understand the costs involved.”

”Li Weiwei, remember one thing...”

”Not being hired doesn’t mean failure. HP=0 and scores below 0 mean failure.”

Li Weiwei nodded:

”Boss, which area are you from? Are you in Longxia? Would you like to join our community?”

Her gaze was not only gentle but had a drawing lure to it.

Wen Xishu responded:

”That’s private. I am about to begin recording overtime data. You should go now.”

Li Weiwei felt somewhat deflated but obediently left.

From eight in the morning to six in the afternoon is work time.

And from eight in the evening to midnight is overtime.

In other words, one can work overtime for up to six hours a day.

Those who work overtime can earn up to three additional points.

In Wen Xishu’s view, the Drive value reflects some form of Spiritual Power.

Soon, having Shen Changfeng work six hours overtime... yielded his most valued data.

Data not mentioned in the rules, only explored by players.

”One hour of overtime earns 0.5 points, but at the cost of HP decreasing by 5 points.”

”Up to now, Shen Changfeng has already lost 30 HP points...”

”If working normally tomorrow, he will have lost a total of 35 HP points.”

Wen Xishu quickly went to the vending machine.

He discovered something interesting yet horrifying...

”Shen Changfeng earned me three points, but if these three points are used to purchase food to replenish HP, it turns out... it can only restore 10 HP?”

Once health is traded for points, it can’t be traded back for health, unless at a loss...

Yet, Wen Xishu ultimately spent three points to replenish some of Shen Changfeng’s Life Value, even if it wasn’t fully restored.

He observed through Shen Changfeng that once Life Value decreases, it inevitably makes one feel ”uncomfortable.”

The greater the decline, the discomfort levels increase exponentially.

Another peculiar aspect was that Wen Xishu found...

Shen Changfeng’s dr value actually increased.

”Really strange.”

Wen Xishu was puzzled.

”Drive is driving force, which I can interpret as overtime drive, passion for work.”

”Interestingly, Shen Changfeng’s work enthusiasm actually increased due to overtime?”

This is unreasonable, as asking a daily output of 4000-word author to try pumping out 10000 words daily would naturally lead to job disgust, and should make drive decrease.

The sudden increase in drive made Wen Xishu find it unbelievable.

”But if... he is the only person in the world who can work overtime? If overtime is some kind of advantage?”

”I have rejected others’ overtime applications and only allowed Shen Changfeng to work overtime; might he feel special because of this?”

”Regardless, I must continue observing. Tomorrow, I’m planning for Shen Changfeng to work overtime again.”

Too much data is yet to be tested, Wen Xishu still feels uncertain.

He needs more definite data. Wen Xishu immediately headed to the office area.

By this time, everyone in the office area had arrived.

No one was sleeping.

Because it was now midnight.

A new day had arrived.

The scores from the four groups and four zones were about to be announced too.

Everyone was eager to see what scores other groups had.

Before this, Wen Xishu received a notification.

[Please allocate your earned scores, current total: 31 points. As the boss, you have one additional point.]

Wen Xishu didn’t think much about it, keeping his own point and dividing the remaining 29 points equally.

Soon, everyone received their scores.

Shen Changfeng was actually feeling a bit uncomfortable.

”I worked six more hours than everyone else... consuming Life Value... but only received one point too?”

”How is that fair!”

Shen Changfeng was clearly dissatisfied with how Wen Xishu handled things.

But remembering how Wen Xishu saved his life, he still endured.

Soon, Li Weiwei and Clark noticed that everyone had scores, all were one point each.

The two exchanged glances feeling Wen Xishu was a bit childish.

”This egalitarianism... is too naive, it will greatly reduce everyone’s motivation to work.”

Li Weiwei thought.

But Wen Xishu didn’t see it that way.

Because he was certain that even one point wasn’t that easy to earn.

Sure enough, the electronic screen soon displayed all team scores, along with an additional rule supplement – survival costs.

[Note, surviving in Three Towers Company requires a basic daily cost of one point. If any individual’s score is less than zero after subtracting the basic cost at midnight... that employee will be forcibly optimized.]

This news sent a chill down everyone’s spine.

”What does it mean?” Turte was puzzled.

Tang Zhe explained:

”What else could it mean? Eating, breathing, sleeping here all cost money. If we don’t work overtime, the money we earn would just cover living expenses. There won’t be any surplus.”

Shen Changfeng was shocked:

”Meaning if just one point is earned? Equivalent to having no points?”

Tang Zhe nodded:

”Isn’t that obvious?”

Shen Changfeng clenched his fists.

Tang Zhe said:

”But at least today, everyone survived, indicating our boss isn’t that bad.”

Following Tang Zhe’s words, the electronic screen promptly showed new content—

Zone A: Total score acquired was 70, after deducting military expenditure and population expenses, 19 remains.

Zone B: Total score acquired was 31, after deducting population expenses, 4 remains.

Zone C: Total score acquired was 34, after deducting population expenses and additional costs, 1 remains.

Zone D: Total score acquired was 47, after deducting population expenses, 17 remains.

Wen Xishu’s brow furrowed slightly. He was deducing how Zone A managed 69 points.

The deduction results made him feel that Zone A was somewhat outrageous, overly extreme.

At this time, Wen Xishu’s employees were equally astounded.

points?

Did they all work overtime? How could they achieve such a high score of 69?

They found this score incredible.

Li Weiwei’s eyes shone with fervor, Zone A, true to Elder A’s name, that’s powerful. With this score, everyone survives!

But Wen Xishu didn’t see Zone A as strong; he believed Zone D was the strongest.

”Zone D... there exists an expert.” Wen Xishu pondered quietly.

He didn’t ponder for long, as two dreadful news interrupted him.

[Zone A launched an expedition against Zone C, deemed successful, resulting in Zone B’s score falling to 80% of its deserved total tomorrow.]

[Zone A initiated diplomatic actions towards Zone C, stating if Zone C employees are dissatisfied with their current boss, they may go to Zone A, which is willing to accept them.]

[Zone A issued a declaration to Zone C: Welcome to join us, welcome to the paradise of score supremacy.]

At this moment, everyone was in a panic.

Wen Xishu unexpectedly laughed:

”I’ve been shamed, huh...”

He wasn’t too bothered, as Zone A wouldn’t be the last zone standing.

At the same time, he discovered a terrifying fact.

Zone B.

Zone B’s score and the score he managed in Zone C were the same, but Zone B still had 4 remaining points.

What does this indicate? Wen Xishu naturally knew.

”Tsk tsk, Zone B, quite bloody.”

Internal and external strife was upon them.

With everyone’s score at 0, and Zone A’s diplomatic tactics, Wen Xishu now had to manage employees’ emotions while dealing with an extremely severe survival challenge.
