The Golem Mage

683: The Dean’s Problem 683: The Dean’s Problem Bang!

A sonic explosion erupted as Vladimir kept Morgana occupied in the air, ensuring she would be unable to assist her teammates, who were being picked off easily by his own team members.

The Battle Mage Academy was not named that way for nothing; when it came to group battles, they were arguably the best among all the great academies.

The only way to effectively deal with them was to have very strong individuals restraining them, and with the Onyx academy captain being absent from the battlefield with his large reserve of undead, made a significant difference.

It quickly turned into a dog-eat-dog scenario, and such chaotic scenes were where the Battle Mage Academy thrived the most.

In the VIP section, the elders of high and ancient clans, along with a few deans of the academies who had the privilege of sitting there, all appeared bored as they watched the fight unfold.

“Seriously, this is all boring, given the current setup, we should already know who’s going to win the match, so why don’t we discuss business?” a man dressed in flashy mage robes and adorned with an array of mana accessories approached the Dean of the War God Academy.

Wearing a pointy hat and holding a staff, his appearance resembled that of a stereotypical broke wizard, but the opulence of his robes and the mana accessories told a different story.

The Dean of the War God Mage Academy raised his head to regard the man approaching him and smiled.

“I would also like to discuss business with you!” another voice chimed in this time, it belonged to a figure clad in full golden robes trimmed in white, her blonde hair cascading elegantly.

She smiled at the Dean of the War God Mage Academy as she made her way around to his right side, taking a seat.

Meanwhile, the man with the pointy hat settled to his left, leaving the Dean bewildered and wondering what had changed, especially since everyone seemed to be ignoring him just moments ago after his previous comments about Alec.

“While you all may have said ‘business,’ I don’t seem to recall having any dealings with the Great Magnus of the Witch and Wizard Academy or the Dean of the Royal Mage Academy,” the new Dean said with a sly smile, sensing that he already knew why they were approaching him again.

“Come on, don’t be so rigid!

We all know the War God Mage Academy is in a drastic financial situation; you really need funds now, don’t worry, we’re prepared to pay double or triple what you think he’s worth,” the Grand Magnus said, causing the new Dean to raise an eyebrow, trying to understand why they seemed so eager.

“You should know that no matter how much you offer me, I will not allow you vultures to poach Alec from our academy!” the new Dean replied.

But when he saw the expressions on the faces of the two people disturbing him, he realized something was amiss.

“Hell no!

Why would you think I would want to pay over the odds just to take a kid my academy has already rejected and potentially offend an ancient clan located near my academy?” the Dean of the Royal Mage Academy added, still flashing what seemed to be her signature smile at the War God Academy Dean.

“Well, if this isn’t about Alec, then what really brings you two to me?

I don’t believe my academy team has another mage so impressive that you would come to me with such tempting offers,” the new Dean asked, looking more shocked as he spread his hands in confusion.

“It’s simple: all I want is the alchemist who has been helping your team craft pills,” the Grand Magnus stated.

“I want the rune smith that is under your academy,” the Dean of the Royal Mage Academy said.

They both said this simultaneously, their eager eyes fixed on the new Dean, who remained perplexed by their requests.

“But we don’t have any remarkable alchemists or rune smiths.

In fact, all those who reached mid-rank have been poached by prominent academies like yours.”

“ The most talented ones from the new batch don’t even bother applying to our academy, and you both know why, they believe we’re broke and can’t support them to reach their real potential,” the new Dean explained as best as he could, feeling the intense gaze of the two leaders upon him, making him want to divulge more.

“Of course you’re broke and wouldn’t know what to do with such talent.

Don’t try to sugar coat your financial situation; we all know the school is only running on past reserves, and the new factions we’ve heard about are merely pumping few resources back into the academy,” the Dean of the Royal Mage Academy said, unflinchingly confronting him.

This caused the new Dean to give her a puzzled look, wondering why she seemed intent on poking him where it hurt, and that was being broke.

“Don’t underestimate our intelligence, we all know that your whole team has a supply of pills; otherwise, their cultivation couldn’t possibly be boosted at such a rapid pace.”

“ Just the other day, I touched one of your students in disguise, and I could still sense the residue of cultivation pills in his system,” The Grand Magnus said.

“Moreover, the energy I felt was exceptionally potent, which reflects the high level of the alchemist in question.

And don’t even get me started on that healing pill your poster boy Alec shoved into a teammate’s mouth; “

“ We both know how much that pill costs, I understand you might have been trying to protect him by giving him that, but all this is evidence enough that you’re hiding a very talented alchemist.”

“Give him up so you don’t squander such talent,” the Grand Magnus urged.

“My request is straightforward and undeniable; over a hundred thousand spectators witnessed your entire team using talismans.”

“ That was the only reason they managed to hold their ground for long in the third round and win that match.

I simply want the rune smith who created those talismans,” the Dean of the Royal Mage Academy added.

Both she and the Grand Magnus turned to the new Dean, who looked more bewildered than ever.

He didn’t know how he would break the news to them that everything they had mentioned was provided by a student the very same Alec they had dismissed.

Even he knew he would find it hard to believe if another person was telling him what he was about to tell them, especially after hearing all the evidence they believed they have gathered, if he didn’t already know where the source of their interest came from, he would have just been as eager also.

But deep down, he knew that Alec could not possibly be such an extraordinary mage, and also be capable of creating superior pills and being a master rune smith at such a young age.

It seemed impossible, even if Alec devoted all his time to cultivating his skills, the new Dean felt it was something that wasn’t humanly possible.

As he contemplated mentioning Alec, he realized that even if they didn’t know who the alchemist and rune smith were, invoking Alec’s name would only heighten their interest in him a prospect the Dean was determined to avoid.
