Chapter 1593 -59: Meilodi’s Counterattack

With a crash, several pieces of rubble slipped down as the old witch stood up from the hole in the wall.

“Who are you?”

The old witch’s face was as dark as water. Although she had been chasing the group of red-haired boys, she mostly sent out synthetic beasts to toy with them, as this was their territory after all.

The red-haired boy’s tendency for risk-taking was quite impressive. It’s unclear where he got the information, but he had gone to steal the Mo Yi family’s heirloom. If they had met Mo Yi·Nora in person, the three of them would have been doomed.

Su Xiao ignored the old witch and glanced at the dagger-shaped crystal stone in his hand, then took out a pendant to compare with it.

“Mo Yi·Nora’s character is surprisingly cautious.”

Su Xiao muttered softly, then exerted force, shattering the dagger-shaped crystal stone in his hand and causing crystal shards to explode everywhere.

“You!”

The old witch was taken aback. Su Xiao glanced at her, judging that she wasn’t well-regarded by Mo Yi·Nora; otherwise, Mo Yi·Nora would not have sent her to retrieve a fake heirloom.

Indeed, the heirloom stolen by the boy was a fake. The pendant in Su Xiao’s hand had a small piece of the heirloom. Although they could sense each other, it was merely sensing. The appearance was identical, but the internal structure was completely different. The fake heirloom carried only a trace of the real item’s aura, indistinguishable by those who hadn’t seen the genuine article.

Su Xiao looked at the fifth stage old witch. Without surprise, he would soon have to confront Mo Yi·Nora, and he couldn’t waste too much stamina now.

With a thunderous crash, A Mu leapt down from the hole above and immediately charged toward the old witch upon landing.

The old witch spread her legs slightly apart, as the trident in her hand danced with a flash of cold light. She was evidently a close combat expert.

Thump, thump, thump…

The ground cracked with each step A Mu took. Holding the ice warhammer, it leapt forward when five meters away from the old witch, veins bulging on its arms, and hammered downwards on the old witch’s head.

Seeing A Mu leap up, the old witch sneered. Jumping in close combat was a major taboo unless possessing flying ability.

“Frost Wind.”

The old witch shifted the trident in her hand, and the weapon extended to strike at A Mu, even with a three-meter gap.

Just as the old witch thrust her trident, she felt a stabbing pain in her lower back, akin to being bitten by something.

This bite sent a shiver of cold sweat down the old witch’s spine. She tensed up her body and was about to twist the trident in her hand as three bullets came flying, clearly aimed at her head, throat, and heart.

Bam!

A Mu’s hammer came down. The old witch blocked with her trident across her chest as frost crept over the trident, spreading towards her.

Both the old witch and A Mu were pushed back a few steps by the impact. Bubu Wang, clinging to the old witch’s lower back, shook its head, making the old witch gasp in pain.

The icy trident rotated in the old witch’s hands as she reversed her grip and thrust it at Bubu Wang’s head.

Crack, crack, crack…

Ice spread across the old witch’s body, the result of A Mu’s ultimate ability ‘Winter’s Wrath’.

The old witch instantly turned into an ice sculpture, but it shattered in less than 0.5 seconds. With a bluish-purple complexion, the old witch exhaled a breath of cold air and continued to thrust the trident at Bubu Wang’s head.

Just as Bubu Wang was about to meet its end, a silver slash cut across the old witch’s neck, blood spurting out meters away instantly.

The old witch was already struggling against A Mu and Bubu Wang. With Su Xiao in the mix, she would soon be overwhelmed and killed.

Su Xiao stood before the old witch, turned sideways, and kicked straight at the old witch’s head with a bang, his foot embedded in the wall. The old witch’s limbs twitched once, and her head shattered, killing her on the spot.

Su Xiao shook off the blood from his shoe, picked up a legendary treasure box from the ground, having chosen the treasure box as a reward for killing the fifth stage witch.

The red-haired boy and his sister stood like punished students not far away, with an expression as if they had seen a ghost. Just a few minutes ago, they had been desperately chased by the old witch with nowhere to run, and now, that witch had been killed, having her head shattered with a single kick—a fifth stage witch!

“It seems like it was a waste of time.”

Passing by the red-haired boy, Su Xiao reflected that not everything could go as planned, and though unexpected, the situation was manageable.

Leaping from the large pit above, Su Xiao entered a dark room. It was an abandoned ancient castle, with a line of holes A Mu had made leading straight outside.

As Su Xiao exited the castle, he found Meilodi waiting anxiously in the white forest.

“How did it go?”

Seeing Su Xiao, Meilodi hurriedly approached.

“Not well.”

“Then that’s a…?”

Meilodi’s face was unkind. She suspected Su Xiao would go back on his word, denouncing such behavior silently in her heart.

“It’s a fake.”

“Then… I have to follow you into the Mist Castle?”

“No need. According to our agreement, you can leave. Here’s the final payment.”

Su Xiao tossed a bag of gold coins to Meilodi. He had no use for them, and though Meilodi lacked combat effectiveness, she had contributed significantly in the witch hunt.

Meilodi staggered a few steps after catching the bag; it was heavy.

“Quick, the bomb, the bomb in my body.”

Meilodi’s excitement rendered her nearly incoherent.

“What bomb?” 𝘧𝓇ℯℯ𝑤ℯ𝘣𝓃ℴ

Su Xiao, calm and somewhat leisurely, lit a cigarette.

“The bomb in my body, the one you left behind!”

With red eyes, Meilodi’s resentment outweighed her fear of Su Xiao.

“Oh, that was a trick.”

“!!?”

Meilodi seemed to freeze, staring blankly at Su Xiao.

“A trick, meaning… I never had a bomb in me from the start?”

“You could say that.”

Confirming this with Su Xiao made Meilodi’s eyes flare up, looking like a child unable to bear the grievance.

“No bomb, ha, hahaha, tricked me…”

Meilodi appeared to break down, starting to laugh idiotically with her head tilted back.

“I wish you well getting out of the south alive.”

Su Xiao patted Meilodi on the shoulder, stepping into the forest, shortly afterwards hearing Meilodi’s loud shout from behind.

“Cuchulainn Bai Ye, you, you…”

Meilodi wanted to curse Su Xiao loudly but reconsidered, aware of the risk of death after cursing him. She dismissed the tempting thought.

“I’m free!!”

Meilodi spread her arms wide, taking a deep breath of freedom’s air, just as a red-haired boy emerged from the ancient castle, carrying an injured girl, followed by another girl.

“Hey, boy, you look like you need help.”

Meilodi adjusted her smile, which incredibly resembled Su Xiao’s. Though she hadn’t learned combat skills from Su Xiao, she had picked up on one thing: never let anyone fully understand her, and be ruthless when necessary.

“Who are you?”

The red-haired boy looked at Meilodi with full caution.

“Me? I’m the White Witch. But compared to who I am, your companion is about to die, and I can save them, which is more important, right, boy?”

“You can save Lan?”

“Of course.”

“I beg you, save her. I’ll give anything I can.

The red-haired boy rushed to Meilodi, eyes full of pleading. As Meilodi caught sight of his expression, she felt a bit discomforted.

If accompanying Su Xiao and Carmen had nightmare-level difficulty, dealing with this boy was beginner-level. Realizing this, Meilodi’s smile grew kinder.

“Really… anything?”

“Yes.”

“Then trade her life for it.”

Meilodi pointed to the boy’s sister, whose mouth opened and closed, unsure what to say.

“Just kidding, I’m not a demon, though I’ve traveled with one for nearly a month. Boy, say something nice, and if it pleases me, I’ll save your little lover.”

“We’re not…”

“Oh, details, details aren’t important.”

“Fine, madam, you’re very beautiful; you’re the most beautiful witch I’ve seen. I mean it from the bottom of my heart. Please save her. I… can’t lose her.”

Hearing the boy’s flattery, Meilodi smiled. Among Su Xiao, Carmen, and others, she was just a little flower, fearing for a few days if she upset them. Now with the boy, he seemed like a little weed to her. Meilodi thought to herself, if this boy had fallen into Su Xiao’s hands, he’d be utilized to the point of doubting life.
