Chapter 1568: Chapter 34: Hostage? If You Want Me Dead, Just Say It

Melodi, sitting on the marble slab, felt a chill, just like her heart gradually becoming cold.

Originally, Melodi was watching the green flames soaring into the sky at the seaside and was deeply moved, but who would have thought the situation would change dramatically, and she was about to be responsible for the fire below the castle.

If killing is a mortal enemy, then setting a fire is a family-ending deed, the hatred level clearly slightly higher than killing, and now, Melodi is facing dozens of witches whose homes have been burned, possibly more downstairs.

Even so, it’s actually not that bad. Although Melodi fears death, as a witch, she certainly has her own pride, but her fear of two people surpasses death, one of whom is Witch Queen Morisa.

Witch Queen Morisa is that blonde woman, although she always smiles, what she did in the past countless times awoke Melodi from nightmares.

”Getting more skilled, huh? You even brought outsiders to burn Westport.”

A cool female voice came, Melodi focused her eyes, it was a black short-haired girl, whose ears were filled with ear studs, and her aura was as cold as metal.

”You are... Kai?”

Melodi looked at the girl in astonishment. In her impression, the other party was still a little brat, following her as a tagalong every day.

”You should call me Lord Kai.”

With a bang, a broad and sturdy witch kicked Melodi in the abdomen, and with Melodi’s small build, she was kicked flying with just one kick.

”Show some respect, White Witch.”

Melodi was just kicked away, and a witch grabbed her hair and threw her back into the crowd.

Tap, tap, tap...

Metal stomped on the ground, and the girl named Kai came to Melodi, leaned down, and sat on her back, crossed her legs.

”That was long ago, now is not the time for nostalgia, tell me, how many accomplices do you have.”

Kai sat on Melodi’s back, and the other witches were not good at continuing to hit her, they could only circle around angrily.

”Accomplice...”

Melodi laughed miserably.

”What, are you planning to sacrifice for your witch hunter lover? If you had such loyalty back then, you wouldn’t have ended up like this.”

Kai sneered, clamped Melodi’s nape with three fingers.

”Little lover... pfft~”

Melodi fiercely restrained her laughter, while the surrounding witches seemed slightly puzzled.

”You guys...” Melodi looked up around, slightly disdainful, ”just captured a hostage, why so confident.”

”Hostage?”

Kai leaned close, getting near to Melodi’s face, so close they could even feel each other’s breath.

”Are you saying you’re not that witch hunter’s accomplice?”

”Don’t believe her nonsense...”

”Shut up! Otherwise, I’ll kill you right now!”

Kai turned her head to look at the witch who interrupted her, she wasn’t joking, she would really kill the other party, even if Witch Queen Morisa was present.

That witch turned her head, though unhappy, she dared not openly challenge Kai; in Westport, besides Witch Queen Morisa, Kai’s status was the highest.

”You said you are a hostage?”

Kai’s expression returned to calm, her fingers slightly exerted on Melodi’s nape.

”Yes, I am a hostage, a hostage with a bomb planted inside my body.”

Hearing Melodi claim there’s a bomb inside her, the surrounding witches retreated a few steps.

Kai stared at Melodi, seemingly judging the truth of Melodi’s previous words.

”I was brought to Westport just because I understood the terrain here, as for how many witch hunters there are, I don’t know, from the Central Plains to the west, I was blindfolded and locked in the carriage the entire journey, the only contact was one witch hunter, he was about 20 years old, that guy... is a devil, he treated me...”

At this point, tears flowed from Melodi’s eyes, but at this moment, her eyes suddenly widened, as Kai reached into her clothing, and quickly explored downwards.

”You’re lying.”

”...”

Melodi’s cheeks twitched, her expression very unnatural, she forgot a very crucial thing.

”Queen, leave this traitor to me, within two hours, I assure she will say everything.”

Kai looked at Witch Queen Morisa, Morisa hadn’t spoken.

”How can family be treated so roughly.”

Morisa waved her hand, indicating for Kai to release Melodi, Kai slowly stood up, though unwillingly, she could only comply.

Melodi secretly felt bitter, although cooperating with Su Xiao was dangerous, after confirming the identity of the collaborator, she at least wasn’t in danger of losing her life, but she didn’t expect to fall into the hands of these witches now.

”Where is that thing.”

Morisa’s simple sentence caused Melodi’s heart to turn half cold.

”I hid that thing in...”

Melodi’s voice became increasingly low, she obviously couldn’t say she lost Morisa’s heirloom, because that would be tantamount to suicide.

”Lost it? Then you’re useless.”

A moment ago they were called family, and now, Morisa waved her hand, indicating to have Melodi disposed of.

”Queen, I suggest using her as a hostage, she has a complicated relationship with that fire-setting witch hunter. According to her description, she and that witch hunter arrived here together from the Central Plains, which shouldn’t be fake, the Central Plains after all is the witch hunter’s headquarters, such a long journey, that witch hunter didn’t do anything out of line to her, which isn’t plausible for a mere hostage to say, so I determine she has a complicated relationship with that fire-setting witch hunter, likely a partnership.”

Kai hurriedly stepped forward, actually everyone could see, she was saving Melodi from death, whether sitting on Melodi earlier or now suggesting using Melodi as a hostage.

”Not a bad suggestion.”

Morisa’s lips curled up, agreeing to Kai’s suggestion, hearing the two’s dialogue, Melodi smiled bitterly, she was doomed.

Boom!

A loud noise exploded on the outer wall of the castle, the entire castle shook.

Boom, boom, boom...

The castle was like it had been shelled, the ground shook violently in an instant, Morisa’s golden light flashed, a vast energy meridian connected her and the entire castle.

The shaking lasted close to a minute before the castle calmed down, many precious items shattered, the outer walls of the castle were filled with cracks, and flickering lightning could be seen.

A kilometer away, Su Xiao pulled the bolt of the gun, hot shell casing flew up, the distant castle unexpectedly sturdy, not only could withstand the burning of the green flames for a long time, but also resist the Duke of Extinction’s dozens of shots.

As confirmed by Su Xiao, all witches in Westport had entered that castle, as long as that place was breached, Westport’s witch gathering point would naturally collapse.

While Su Xiao loaded bullets into the Duke of Extinction, Bubu Wang appeared behind him out of nowhere.

”Woof, woof woof, woof~”

”Oh? Melodi was captured? And taken as a hostage?”

Su Xiao’s expression seemed slightly surprised, he truly didn’t expect those witches to take Melodi as a hostage.

”Go inform A Mu, don’t bother mountains, just rush over directly.”

Su Xiao put away the Duke of Extinction, Hades had already started spreading to the surrounding mountains, it wouldn’t be long before it might burn to the nearby sea. Given Hades’ burning characteristics, seawater is combustible but would accelerate Hades’ extinguishing speed.

Looking around at this time, 95% of Westport’s buildings had been burned down, and the commoners had fled somewhere unknown.
