Chapter 1574: Chapter 40: Halo

Even though Witch Morissa of Light has explosive comprehensive attributes, she can’t control the Sun Flame, which gives Su Xiao some relief.

It’s clear that Morissa has borrowed Solar Power through some artifact, but the abilities she gains are sharpness and speed with the light attribute, rather than high temperatures, and she can’t unleash Sun Flame on a large scale.

The earlier Sun Flame was merely an accessory of the Light Power Morissa obtained, rather than something she could control.

On the third floor of the castle, as air is pulled in through window cracks, the oxygen levels gradually increase, making breathing possible.

The ground and walls are scorched red with embers flickering faintly. The walls on the third floor have melted into pools of lava, making it appear empty, and compared to the orange-red flames on the ground, the golden light around Morissa is even more dazzling.

Morissa, wielding an energy longsword, slowly descends the stairs and stops about twenty meters from Su Xiao. She isn’t in close combat, or rather, she isn’t in close combat yet.

”Melody, this is your last chance. Tell me where that thing is.”

Morissa is still invested in the heirloom; otherwise, Kai wouldn’t have been able to protect Melody with her disposition.

Melody glanced at Su Xiao, then at Morissa. Clearly, neither of these two was easy to provoke, so she made a very smart decision.

”I gave that thing... to the Holy Healing Church.”

Melody smiled at Morissa; Morissa kept a gentle smile, but upon hearing Melody’s words, the smile on her face faded.

”In that case...”

”Moo!”

Before Morissa could finish her sentence, A Mu, covered in wounds, roared. As a high-level alchemical creature created by Su Xiao, A Mu inherited Su Xiao’s fine tradition of ’no talk when action is possible.’

A Mu, holding the Ice Blue War Hammer, charged towards Morissa, the ground underfoot first sparking, then frozen by frost.

A Mu had already activated the Charging Skill, thus his speed kept increasing. Sensing this, Morissa raised the golden energy longsword across in front of her, her eyes gleaming with golden light.

”Halo Burst.”

Morissa swung the energy longsword forward, and thirty golden halos appeared around her, each four meters in size, with exceptionally sharp edges.

As Morissa swung the sword, the thirty halos flew forward rapidly due to having a light attribute.

Each halo has a diameter of four meters, and the combined thirty are daunting, further compounded by Morissa’s apparent ability to control their flight paths.

Clang! Clang...

Halos slashed onto A Mu, his arms took the first hit, almost instantly, four halos shattered, the fifth targeting A Mu’s chest.

The attack power of the first four halos was terrifying, but given A Mu’s defensive power, it wasn’t impenetrable.

With a swish, the fifth halo slashed across A Mu’s chest, breaking his momentum, causing him to stagger back a few steps, blood gushing from his chest, exposing the alchemy array diagram clearly.

The sixth halo sliced towards A Mu’s neck, accelerating as it flew, leaving trails of shadows.

Su Xiao’s figure appeared in front of A Mu, Blue Steel Shadow Energy climbing onto Dragon Slash, swinging it towards the incoming halo.

A crisp sound echoed, the halo burst into a large spray of light elements, Su Xiao grabbed A Mu’s shoulder and threw him towards the exit of the third floor, where Bu Bu Wang appeared, dragging the severely injured A Mu into the second floor.

Under normal circumstances, even with Morissa’s strong abilities, she couldn’t nearly terminate A Mu in one hit; A Mu’s Winter Bloodline and Ice Armor greatly enhance his survival ability.

Unfortunately, Morissa is considered a main tank assassin, and Halo Burst is one of her primary attack methods.

The destructive power of Halo Burst is naturally strong, and its trait further amplifies the attack power, if hit by Halo Burst four times consecutively, the fifth hit, due to the overload of light elements inside, triples the destructive power.

Assuming Halo Burst has an attack power of 5, tripled, it’s 15, but in real combat, tripling the destructive power isn’t just 15, the true damage could reach over 50.

Simply augmenting the cutting power threefold makes the ensuing damage terrifying; that’s why Su Xiao’s side kick with Spirit of Wood was so fierce.

Any tank facing Morissa would be wiped out by Halo Burst at moment’s notice, even top-tier fourth tier main tanks couldn’t withstand it, engaging her in combat necessitates avoiding direct confrontation with her cleaves.

With A Mu retreating from the third floor, Bu Bu Wang searches nearby for opportunities, the Hunter lurking at the staircase between the second and third floors, ready to fire arrows. As for the lone Life Sacrificer, it’s hiding on the second floor regenerating mana.

A Mu may no longer be able to fight, but he guards the second floor to prevent Su Xiao inside the third floor from being surrounded by external witches.

Clang! Clang! Clang...

Dense light elements splattered all around, Su Xiao shattered the oncoming halos. With Absolute Demon Physique at play, he’s not worried about being injured by these with overloaded light elements inside, or even without Absolute Demon Physique, his body filled with Blue Steel Shadow Energy naturally expels the light elements.

With a whoosh, a halo flew past Su Xiao’s side, and he stabbed it in the center point, forcibly altering its flight path towards Morissa.

Morissa raised her longsword, the halo shattered in front of her, transforming into light elements and returning to within her.

”Looks like the Holy Healing Church developed some odd technology, nurturing a physically strong Witch Hunter like you.”

Morissa surveyed Su Xiao with interest, and after a moment, shook her head.

”Mortals are still mortals, no matter how strong, they have limits.”

Upon hearing Morissa’s statement, Su Xiao showed no reaction, while Bu Bu Wang rolled its eyes meaning, ”Hope you can say that when getting slammed to the ground.”

Halos floated around Morissa, this was the maximum number of halos she could generate, any more could trigger a light element rampage.

With halos obstructing, it’s difficult for Su Xiao to engage Morissa closely, at least until Dragon Shadow Flash ability recovers, as for Shadow Flash, it shouldn’t be used on Morissa unless absolutely necessary, if the slash fails, Su Xiao will be the one to die.

Morissa consistently controlled three to five halos to attack Su Xiao, Su Xiao tried several times to break through, but the recoil when shattering halos was considerable. After several charges, Su Xiao found he couldn’t do much against Morissa for now.

Morissa furrowed her brows, confused why light elements couldn’t penetrate Su Xiao’s body. Her halos, even when shattered by an enemy’s weapon, allowed the scattered light elements to invade the body, the true terror of halos. If shattered over four halos, caution is necessary, as subsequent halo strikes lead to a blood-filled lesson.
