Chapter 1566: Chapter 32: Is This an Assassination?

Right now Su Xiao was still bent over with his head turned to the side; as long as he straightened up, most of his upper body could lean out of the window.

The Eye of the Apostle hovering in midair activated. Su Xiao flipped off D·Assassin’s safety. This Legendary Level handgun had decent damage in frontal combat, but its real use was assassination, otherwise it wouldn’t be named D·Assassin—its three abilities all lean toward assassination.

Equipment Effect 1: Gruesome Mark (Active). If you have not been discovered by the enemy, after activating Gruesome Mark you will lock onto the heads of up to six enemies (if there is only one enemy, three marks will be stacked on that one). The next six bullets will track the marks on the enemies (head), and shooting speed will be increased by 100%.

Equipment Effect 2: Skull Shatter (Passive). If you successfully hit an enemy’s head, this attack’s Damage is increased by 45%.

Equipment Effect 3: Silent Hunter (Passive). Bullets carry a soundless, perception-blocking Effect. After a bullet hits an enemy’s head, a Silent Field with a diameter of three meters will spread out.

...

Lock on, boost Damage to the head by nearly 50%, and generate a Silent Field.

Through the Eye of the Angel Envoy, Su Xiao already had a clear picture of the inside of the Watchtower. There were seven Witches inside; two of them were cuddled together on a small bed, dead asleep. From the exposed backs and thighs it was obvious the two were completely naked. The other five Witches seemed long used to this, each doing her own thing.

Out of the seven Witches, only two sat in front of the windows, watching the surrounding sea; one of them was clearly asleep, drool hanging from her mouth.

Su Xiao activated D·Assassin’s ”Gruesome Mark (Active)” ability. Through the Eye of the Angel Envoy’s view, he saw White skull icons appear above these Witches’ heads, yet they noticed nothing.

The White Skull gradually changed color; once it turned fully red, it meant the lock-on was complete. There were seven people in the Watchtower, but Gruesome Mark could only form six marks, so Su Xiao abandoned one of the Witches lying on the bed, snoring away.

Two seconds later, all six Gruesome Marks turned red. Su Xiao suddenly straightened up, raising D·Assassin to level.

Pfft, pfft, pfft...

After seven shots with distinct rhythm, six Witches in the Watchtower were all shot through the head, and the last one was shot through the neck.

No sound of bodies hitting the floor came. The Silent Field had already enveloped the entire Watchtower.

Su Xiao unfastened the Hook Lock at his waist and leapt into the Watchtower. The Witch lying in the pool of blood raised a hand; she seemed to be shouting for help.

Su Xiao raised his hand and fired twice. That Witch collapsed. He had killed seven Witches in a row, yet not a single Treasure chest dropped, and Source of Exploration only increased by a pitiful 0.3%—and that was the combined Source of Exploration from all seven Witches.

This was actually normal. Witches with status would never be assigned to guard a Watchtower.

Standing on the other side of the Watchtower, Su Xiao saw Westport in the distance—far more magnificent than he’d imagined. Who knew how many generations of Slaves these Witches had squeezed dry to build Westport to such a scale.

After a while, Meilodi climbed into the Watchtower along the rope Su Xiao had left. Seeing the several corpses inside, she turned her head away and pulled a sheet over one of them. That might have been someone she knew.

Meilodi’s mouth opened and closed, but no sound came out. This stunned her for a moment, then she tried to raise her voice.

Su Xiao motioned for her to shut up. Within the Silent Field, sound transmission was blocked. Even if he fired a shot with Duke of Extinction here, no one would notice. Infiltration into Westport was easier than Su Xiao had imagined.

But with how strict Westport’s defenses were, it wouldn’t be long before someone came to the Watchtower to change shifts. So Su Xiao took Meilodi and jumped into the sea on the other side of the Watchtower. As for Bubu Wang, it was already waiting for Su Xiao on the shore...

With Bubu Wang scouting ahead, Su Xiao quickly reached the beach area. In the distance he could still see a few children playing on the sand.

”Hey, hey? Hey?”

Meilodi patted her own Ears. Su Xiao and Bubu Wang both looked at her, puzzled.

”I can talk again.”

Su Xiao ignored Meilodi. The sound of the waves reached his Ears as he walked forward, stripping off the wetsuit he wore.

Just as he crossed the beach, a prompt from Reincarnation Paradise made Su Xiao stop.

[Prompt: Hunter has entered High-risk Area, Westport.]

[Westport is a medium-sized Witch gathering point. It is recommended that ten or more Fourth-tier Contractors enter in coordination.]

[Once the Hunter enters the Westport area, killing enemies will no longer yield Treasure chests, Source of Exploration, etc. Only Holy Healing Church Reputation can be obtained.]

[If the Hunter successfully kills Witch Queen Moris and destroys the ”Sun Conversion Crystal” (this act signifies the annihilation of the Witch gathering point), all kill records the Hunter accumulates within Westport will be settled as rewards. If during this period the Hunter leaves the Westport area, all kill records will be cleared.]

...

Seeing the series of prompts from Reincarnation Paradise, Su Xiao raised an eyebrow. This was the first time he’d encountered such a situation. It was somewhat similar to participating in a large-scale story event, but even more dangerous.

As Su Xiao and the others moved past the beach area, those distant children clearly noticed the group. Purple light flashed in Meilodi’s eyes, and the children immediately dropped to their knees on the sand.

”See? This is the result of Witch Queen Morisa’s family’s generations of work. In Westport, Witches’ status is Supreme.”

Looking at those little ones kneeling on the ground in the distance, Meilodi’s fists clenched tight. Her younger brother had died because of this absurd rule. That was also the main reason she chose to escape from Westport.

After crossing the beach area, the group finally stepped fully into the bounds of Westport.

Westport had more than a dozen stone stairways winding upward, and the place where Su Xiao now stood was the outermost edge of Westport. The people living here were all civilians—the descendants of the original batch of Slaves, of course. Westport constantly replenished its fresh blood.

Behind a residential house, Su Xiao was adjusting some kind of device in his hands, while Meilodi kept urging him. She knew the situation inside Westport, so she knew this spot was not safe. Any civilian who saw this group would shout loudly or quietly report them to a Witch.

”What are we going to do next? If we’re infiltrating in secret, I recommend taking that stone stairway. That leads directly to...”

Meilodi cut herself off midway; something was wrong—Su Xiao was actually walking toward the street.

”Hey, weren’t we going to assassinate Witch Queen Moris?”

At Meilodi’s words, Su Xiao and Bubu Wang stopped.

”And this isn’t assassination?”

As Su Xiao spoke, he tossed out a test tube as thick as an arm.

With a crisp crack, the test tube shattered. Green flames spread out—it was Flame of the underworld·Hades.

The green flames slowly expanded. Hades was not a Weapon focused on killing enemies; its burn Speed wasn’t fast. Even civilians wouldn’t be easily burned to death by Hades. Its main function was destroying buildings, to slowly burn an entire city to ash.
