One-Eyed Monster

At this moment, Igor’s thoughts were exceptionally clear. He knew he couldn’t currently integrate into the ongoing discussion. Even if he could, he wouldn’t be able to make a decision calmly; rather he might become indecisive due to knowing too much.

To avoid such a situation, Igor had no choice but to take out his lucky item.

This lucky item was that tree branch.

Entrusting his journey to the decision of this tree branch was always a choice Igor resorted to when in a dilemma.

Though entrusting his entire fate to a tree branch seemed somewhat inappropriate, Igor believed it was his best option.

Without hesitation, he threw down the tree branch.

As long as the branch tip pointed outward, he would go to the palace!

Of course, this was a decision from his own heart.

He was going to find Xiso.

”What are you doing?” Kadi looked at Igor in confusion.

”The branch tip pointed outward, so I’ve made my choice!” Igor didn’t care at all how Kadi viewed him.

It was the first time Kadi saw Igor make such a choice. Though he had heard Igor mention it before, he hadn’t seen it with his own eyes. Now seeing it, he was indeed taken aback.

Igor looked at Kadi, ”Don’t be so surprised. We’ll depart in a while.”

”Depart? Depart where? What on earth are you doing!” Kadi was bewildered by Igor, and his mind, already cluttered, became even more confused.

”Don’t you want to meet Xiso?” Igor asked, with an expression of doubt as if he didn’t recognize Kadi.

”I want to meet Xiso, but do you know where Xiso is?” Kadi looked at Igor questioningly, seeing him as if he were a stranger.

Igor and Kadi’s actions also drew the attention of Coban Kangen and the others. They stopped their discussion and turned to look at Igor.

”What are you planning to do?”

”You look like you’ve made a tough decision, what is it you intend to do?”

”Could it be that you really intend to go to the palace?”

The three of the Kangen family asked, surrounding Igor with concern.

”I decided, no, fate guides me to the palace,” Igor said.

”Fate?” Coban Kangen was puzzled, wondering how this came to involve fate.

”That’s right, fate tells me I should find Xiso. Xiso might have the answers,” Igor was calm. He believed the matters the branch decided for him were destined.

”You mean, you threw down this branch and then knew what you were going to do?” Will Kangen was rather curious about Igor’s method.

”Exactly, I didn’t think so before, but now I feel this is fate. Because this branch led me to Guru Mountain.”

Faced with Igor’s explanation, the Kangen family members chuckled.

They could only chuckle.

A tree branch as fate indeed sounded extraordinary, but this young man’s experiences made such things less strange.

It was a phenomenon that was hard to explain clearly because many things were beyond their ability to clarify.

If all this were credited to coincidence, then there would be too many coincidences.

Yet, attributing all this to destiny, like Igor did, seemed a bit mysterious too. They were adventurers with class and maintained an exploratory spirit toward the world. Those spirits and temples were places for their spiritual solace, but at critical moments, they wouldn’t leave the choice to those spirits.

However, Igor entrusted his choice to this destiny-tinged branch, which indeed was bizarre.

What could they do besides laugh?

”We respect your decision!” Will Kangen said, his gaze filled with a gentle light, a characteristic of elder care.

Igor felt relieved; he knew that his approach would receive support.

”Yet, haven’t you overlooked something?” Will Kangen immediately asked.

”What?” Igor frowned, realizing there might be something more important than meeting Xiso.

”Have you thought about under what fate are you going to the palace?”

”Going there… requires a purpose?” Igor was puzzled.

Will Kangen smiled, ”A king’s palace is not a place just anyone can enter.”

”Even if you have a reason to visit the palace, do you know how to get there?” At this moment, Kadi spoke up again.

”Uh…” Igor suddenly realized this branch, no, fate, decided the direction for him but didn’t tell him how to get there, which was rather awkward.

”Not to mention Xiso’s exact location in the palace, just the road to the palace, do you know which way to go? You know, standing here you can see the grand palace, but the entire palace is surrounded by Bayes Avenue. Do you know where to enter? And even if you know where to enter, can you be sure you can knock open that particular gate?”

For some reason, Kadi suddenly became very calm, mentioning details that were currently real issues.

Only then did Igor realize he was still too inexperienced.

”Why do you want to meet Xiso?” Coban Kangen asked, curious about Igor’s inexplicable decision.

”I feel Xiso will give me the answer!” Igor answered without hesitation.

”What answer will he give you?” Coban Kangen continued, believing there must be something worth pondering.

”An answer about the Soul Devourer and Spirit Core,” Igor replied, uncertain why he answered that way.

”I know if I keep asking, I’ll come across as annoying, but linking Xiso to all of this seems a bit forced!”

”Didn’t Kadi just say Xiso is a strategist? I just feel a strategist can infer many links within this.”

Igor’s explanation indeed seemed forced, surprising Coban Kangen, who didn’t know how to respond.

”Besides, I feel the king summoning Xiso and Bigas isn’t just about their story. There’s something curious about it.”

”He’s right,” Will Kangen took Igor’s side, ”The majesty wouldn’t summon two people just over a story.”

After speaking, Will Kangen looked at the old patriarch, who had remained silent as if pondering over Igor’s choice.

Pete Kangen opened his squinted eyes, carefully observing Igor, then smiled, ”That branch indeed provided you with quite a choice. Something must have happened with Xiso and Bigas, otherwise there wouldn’t still be no news.”

”Perhaps this palace isn’t the one we’re familiar with anymore. Think about it, how long has it been since the King’s Council Hall was last opened? Surely something has occurred amidst all this, maybe it’s time to take a look at the palace!”
