One-Eyed Monster

Igor and Kadi had heard Coban Kangen talk about what happened between Xiso and Bigas, but Coban Kangen only spoke of the events, not their results.

Moreover, Coban Kangen said that because the matter involved family shame, it was seldom mentioned voluntarily; family members were well aware but no one took an active interest in it anymore.

So no one gossiped about where Xiso and Bigas went.

Bigas was still an important member of the Soul Guardian Team, and her departure caused the entire team to undergo a large-scale reshuffling.

Of course, these changes were carried out methodically under the leadership of the Kangen Family Chief; despite many events occurring, the Kangen family remained orderly.

The old family chief steadfastly took responsibility for his daughter’s defiance, believing Bigas’ self-centered actions seriously harmed the family’s interests, yet he felt he shouldn’t bear the responsibility because Bigas had followed Xiso and left the Kangen family. As Bigas’ father, he assumed her responsibility, voluntarily stepped down from his chief position, and withdrew all members with direct ties from the Kangen family’s management.

This approach was indeed harsh, and many young members lost their best opportunities for advancement because of it. Yet Pete Kangen felt this was also a form of liberation; after all, he was an elder who found gratification in seeing the young members of his family grow swiftly.

And those young people affected by Bigas would gain experience from this in the days to come; enduring hardship amidst prosperity may not be entirely a bad thing.

However, Bigas was still his daughter, his only daughter, and though she was seen as selfish within the Kangen family, her actions were understandable from Bigas’ own perspective.

To risk everything for someone she once loved was not inherently wrong.

Especially since Bigas didn’t resent the transformed Xiso, even if Xiso was a Glass.

As a father, Pete Kangen was perplexed why his daughter did not choose someone from a well-matched family.

Later, upon meeting Xiso, he realized his daughter admired the freedom Xiso embodied.

Xiso was a Glass, a wanderer, with no family, earning everything through his own efforts. Whereas his daughter was raised in splendor from the start, living in a paradise compared to Xiso.

One had nothing, the other had everything, and this striking contrast made Bigas experience a sense of realness.

This reality, this freedom, gradually enchanted her…

Their love manifested as an expression of self.

Pete Kangen now felt that the Bigas following Xiso was the real Bigas, while the previously arrogant and imperious Six-System Sage and Soul Guardian leader were just suppressed versions of her, and the same suppression had made Bigas famously temperamental.

As a father, seeing his daughter reclaim herself brought joy, but as a family chief, he needed to be responsible for the entire family.

Even though he had stepped down as chief, he hadn’t forgotten to contribute to the family; outwardly liberated, he continued to tirelessly attend to every family matter.

He was thankful his daughter needn’t endure such suppression anymore.

Pete Kangen reflected on many things, still focusing on his daughter, yet feeling powerless.

The entire empire learned of the story of Bigas and Xiso.

A story so convoluted piqued many people’s interest in them.

Naturally, among them were no shortage of notable figures, including the King of the Kayne Empire.

Xiso was already a prominent figure in the Kayne Empire, and his disappearance had displeased the King.

Even the Alchemy Workshop was affected…

However, the reappearance of Xiso after years of disappearance naturally drew attention from the Empire’s monarchy.

The young King of Kayne dispatched his Blue Blood League Guard, summoning Bigas and Xiso…

Yet only a few knew about it.

Because King Kayne didn’t want the matter widely revealed, the Blue Blood League Guard, originally composed of powerful adventurers with class, had informants everywhere, keenly aware of every family’s movements.

The Blue Blood League Guard made it clear to the Kangen family that the King’s summon of Xiso and Bigas must not be spread.

As for how the Blue Blood League Guard brought Xiso and Bigas to the palace, Pete Kangen was unaware.

No matter what, Xiso and Bigas, even if they had three heads and six arms, couldn’t escape pursuit by the Blue Blood League Guard, the Empire’s most elite guard team, filled with experts, shrouded in mystery.

Pete Kangen involuntarily sighed, thinking of his daughter, always feeling helpless and worried.

Unsure of what Bigas and Xiso might encounter in the palace.

Moreover, the palace had undergone tremendous changes lately; ever since Kuyi Tulan was consecrated as the King’s Hand, the entire palace transformed…

An unexplained worry once again swirled through Pete Kangen’s mind; he hadn’t felt so powerless in a long time.

”You just mentioned the King’s summoning of Bigas and Xiso is a secret. Yet now you’ve informed us of it, won’t that bring trouble?” Igor suddenly interrupted Pete Kangen’s thoughts.

Igor’s concern was not unfounded; the Blue Blood League Guard had indeed instructed them not to spread the news, but now the old chief had divulged it, and with so many Blue Blood League Guard informants, wouldn’t they find out? It wouldn’t be long before the King’s guards arrived here.

Pete Kangen squinted at the distance, his inner agitation slowly fading; before the big picture, he could always set aside personal emotions. The Kangen family, the entire empire, now carried more weight in his heart.

”You’re worried, but there’s no need for secrecy anymore. The whole of Bayes Avenue will ascend to another level because of today’s events.”

”Change is coming.”

”The hidden things will reveal their tails.”

”Whether the King is truly controlled or not, we’ll soon know the answer.”

This old chief straightened his back: ”The entire family must enter a state of emergency; starting today, fierce battles await.”

”The changes in Xinbal will ultimately influence the entire Empire, and I hope those soldiers on the border can hold their positions.”

Igor found Pete Kangen’s worry incomprehensible; why did this elder believe Xinbal was about to change?

And how would Xinbal’s change affect the border?

Those were profound questions Igor couldn’t yet grasp; he only knew he felt bewildered, unsure of what to do now.
