One-Eyed Monster

Will Kangen’s body swayed for a moment, clearly, Pete Kangen’s earlier words might have given him an answer, an answer he had long wanted to know.

”You two are the young men mentioned in Lord Popovich’s letter, aren’t you?” Pete Kangen looked at Igor and Kadi and said.

”Uh, what did Lord Popovich say about us?” Igor was very curious about this, wanting to know what exactly Lord Popovich had said.

”He said you are honest people, trustworthy people.” Pete Kangen answered truthfully.

”Uh...” This answer made Igor feel a bit embarrassed.

”You’re a child of the Yura Family, right?” Pete Kangen looked at Coban Kangen and said, ”Your brows and eyes are exactly like your father’s.”

Coban Kangen crossed his arms across his chest and bowed to Pete Kangen, this was the Kangen Family’s family salute.

”Old Family Leader, I have never forgotten your teachings.”

”Teachings this, teachings that, you paved your own way out and opened a new path for our clan, the family should be rewarding you.”

”Regarding this matter, Patrick and I have already discussed it, the young generation paving new paths for the family will all enter the Hall of Contribution.” Will Kangen whispered into Pete Kangen’s ear.

”Yes, we cannot stick to conventions, many things are changing, if we don’t change, we’ll be eliminated.” Pete Kangen expressed with emotion.

”Old Family Leader, as you can see, the people of Bistal are all here, is there anything you need to say to them?” Will Kangen reminded the old family leader that these visitors came here with a purpose.

”Yes, Lord Popovich’s letter mentioned that you are here for the organization called The Dead.”

”Yes, Coban mentioned that he heard about this organization from you when he was young, is that so, was this organization truly established by the Kangen family?” Igor suddenly remembered his main goal, a lot of his hypotheses along the way needed verification here.

”The organization called The Dead is the predecessor of Black Crow.” Pete Kangen said, clearly, Igor’s words made him delve into a memory.

”To be precise, the organization called The Dead no longer exists.” Will Kangen added, ”We were also very surprised when we received Lord Popovich’s letter.”

”The Dead, eradicated?” Coban Kangen was a bit incredulous.

”Yes, exterminated by family members, of course, your secret level was not high enough to know about this matter, this event is near the level of Electricity, it’s the highest secret among Thunder Level secrets.”

Coban Kangen was suddenly enlightened, so his level was insufficient, hence he didn’t know about this. If this was the fact, then their visit to the Kangen Family might be futile.

However, Igor thought differently, his conjectures and deductions had yet to unfold, and judging by the current situation, his speculation might be hitting the mark with 100% accuracy.

”The reappearance of The Dead in this country is indeed a puzzling event, it’s something that has caught our attention.” Will Kangen continued to explain.

”I want to know, was The Dead really founded by Willem?” Igor suddenly asked.

”You know Willem too, it looks like you’ve done your homework!” Pete Kangen smiled, evidently having a favorable impression of Igor.

Kadi yawned on the side. He wasn’t very good at the current situation, he still preferred direct action methods, and this kind of roundabout discussion failed to excite him.

”Coban has given us a lot of help, which we are quite grateful for, during these processes we also had a lot of gains, though these gains are mainly some of my conjectures.”

Igor stated eloquently, having withheld his conjectures for a long time.

”Tell us your conjecture.” Will Kangen asked.

”Willem, the traitor among the Soul Guardians, he’s just an unfortunate chap.”

”Why do you say that?” The old family leader was very interested in Igor’s conjecture.

”Because he no longer exists, the present Willem is someone else.” Igor shouted loudly.

This point of view shocked Pete Kangen greatly; he never expected such a deduction from this young man.

”What do you mean by this!” Will Kangen also took an interest in this matter.

”You’re the family leader, is there a secret you don’t know?” Kadi was puzzled by Will Kangen’s curious look; it was simply laughable that a family leader was unaware of family matters to an outsider.

”The family’s secrets are rigorously classified, some, even our new family leader has no chance to learn.” Will Kangen explained calmly to Kadi, not taking offense to Kadi’s rudeness.

”There are secrets even the family leader doesn’t know!” Kadi was perplexed.

Will Kangen didn’t say much; he turned his head to look at Pete Kangen, waiting for the old family leader to give an answer.

Everyone’s gaze followed that of the young family leader, turning to the old family leader.

”Ah!” Pete Kangen let out a long sigh, and then slowly began to speak.

”Many times, secrets aren’t hidden because of the threat they pose.”

”Sometimes, a secret is such because we know nothing about it. I mentioned this just now.”

”The fear of the unknown makes us unable to speak of things we have experienced, nor dare to speak of those things.”

”The elders feared that the truth of these matters, once known, would incite panic, this is the experience of predecessors.”

”But when we were young, we didn’t understand this experience, we thought everyone needed to know the truth.”

”So, the truth that Willem had been wiped out was announced by us.”

”You know the outcome too; this Willem, he was reborn!”

”Everyone saw this scene, and it became an indisputable fact. But is this really the way it is? How can we explain the Willem we eradicated and how can this be clearly explained?”

”People saw that after Willem’s demise, he reappeared, besides being reborn, what other explanation could there be?”

”Such an occurrence stemmed from our negligence, if back then we had heeded the advice of the predecessors and suppressed the news of Willem’s eradication at a secret level for a period, perhaps such a thing wouldn’t have happened.”

Pete Kangen lamented the past, his words putting everyone’s facial expressions into a different state.

Igor was exceptionally excited, through the old family leader’s words between the lines, he could discern that his conjectures and deductions had hit most of the facts!

Kadi was expressionless, he had never been interested in such matters.

Coban Kangen was astonished, partly because of Igor, this young man’s earlier conjectures seemed to be getting verified, which made him particularly admiring.

Will Kangen was in deep contemplation, he never thought that the deepest hidden secret would actually be like this...
