One-Eyed Monster

Igor felt he first needed to understand what the Devouring Power was.

”Don’t rush it, let’s take it one at a time. You can’t finish a meal in one bite; you have to eat it slowly.” Igor signaled the Spirit Books to slow down, there were so many ’ohs’ that he couldn’t keep up.

”As for this, we can’t say when the one beside you will wake up.” The Spirit Books were still trembling, it seemed they were genuinely afraid of the Devouring Power on Kadi, which surprised Igor a lot.

”What exactly is this Devouring Power, and why are you so afraid of it?” Igor asked curiously.

”The Devouring Power is absorption, it can cause Spirit Entities to shatter.”

”It’s like biting and crushing food!”

”In the face of this power, we are completely helpless!”

The Spirit Books said so much in one breath, but there wasn’t a single thing Igor fully understood; it was all just a jumble in his mind.

Igor’s silence seemed to make the Spirit Books realize this, so they began to slow down and no longer rushed to express their opinions.

However, even so, Igor was still utterly confused, which made the Spirit Books uncomfortable as well.

To break this awkward situation, the Spirit Books discussed among themselves and delegated a representative to speak with Igor.

”Let’s do it this way, to speed things up, let’s use a Q&A format. Otherwise, we are stuck here unclear, and you’re still confused. It’ll be better if you ask, and we answer.”

Igor was not too opposed to this suggestion, so he nodded in agreement.

”Well then, ask away, why are you just standing there?” The Spirit Book resumed its elder-like tone, as if teaching a child.

”Alright, then first, let’s talk about what the Devouring Power is!”

The Spirit Book was dumbfounded, wasn’t this going back to square one? They had explained so hard before, and this guy hadn’t taken in a single word!

”You can’t be like this!”

Igor found it strange, clearly, it was an area he didn’t understand, so what was wrong with asking questions? Besides, they themselves suggested this Q&A session!

”What do you mean by that, you still haven’t clearly explained what the Devouring Power is! You’ve just been describing how terrifying the Devouring Power is without actually explaining what it is!” Igor argued, thinking his statement was very clear.

The Spirit Book fell silent.

In fact, they also didn’t know what the Devouring Power was, which was also something that perplexed them. They only knew that the power made them feel helpless, and they only knew its might, without understanding how it was constituted.

This was quite an awkward situation because it meant the Spirit Books and Igor were on the same starting line.

They only had a slight advantage over Igor, which was that they had experienced the Devouring Power; otherwise, they were the same as Igor.

It was like facing a strange food that neither had eaten, the Spirit Book had smelled the aroma of the food, but Igor hadn’t, so the Spirit Book said the food was delicious, but when Igor asked what exactly the food was, the Spirit Books were speechless.

This was the reasoning, but the Spirit Books just couldn’t wrap their heads around it. They always felt that they understood the Devouring Power very well until they had this brief exchange with Igor and realized the truth!

It could be said that Igor opened a door for the Spirit Books!

”So, didn’t expect it to be like this!”

After a brief exchange, the Spirit Books were quite embarrassed. They didn’t know how to perform in front of Igor anymore. It felt like a lecture tutor being discovered with a mistake by a student and not knowing how to continue.

”Oh, I thought you knew a lot, but now I see you’ve only seen a lot, not understood it!” Igor was a bit disappointed, not expecting the Spirit Books’ knowledge to be like this!

”This conclusion is also something we guessed after communicating with you, we didn’t understand before either, really sorry!”

Hearing the sincere apology from the Spirit Book, Igor didn’t know what to say. Anyway, things were like this, and his journey just added more things to explore.

”Isn’t it the same situation with the creators of Spirit Entities and the Spirit Entities themselves?” Igor asked.

Actually, Igor didn’t even need to ask this. The Spirit Books had mentioned before that the creators of Spirit Entities were a regret of Lord Soron’s exploration. If even Lord Soron couldn’t figure it out, how could they possibly understand?

So Igor’s question was completely redundant.

”It’s not entirely like that, we do understand some things. While we don’t know about the creators of Spirit Entities, we do understand Spirit Entities well!” the Spirit Book said.

Igor didn’t expect this result, thinking the exchange between him and the Spirit Books was nearing its end, but unexpectedly, there was an unexpected surprise.

”Go ahead, what level of understanding do you have about Spirit Entities?” Igor asked eagerly. He wanted to know everything about this, but the conditions were not ripe, so he could only piece it together bit by bit.

”You should know what a spirit is.” The Spirit Book instead gave Igor a prompt.

”I know that, it’s a species from another world, vastly different from us, yet their existence seems older than ours. More importantly, they need us to awaken them.”

”You’re not wrong, and we briefly mentioned before that Spirit Entities are the various Living Beings that rely on spirits to exist.”

”Hmm! You mentioned it includes us Adventurers with Class, anything related to spirits can be considered Spirit Entities!” Igor agreed.

”Yes, you are called special Spirit Entities because your dependency on spirits is not significant, unlike us, who are essentially dead without them!”

”So your existence entirely depends on spirits!”

”You can say that! We can’t compare with you; you have a great advantage, with almost zero dependency on spirits. On the contrary, spirits sometimes depend on you, which makes it impossible to compare with you!”

The Spirit Book, as it spoke, started to express its amazement, as if everything Igor and his kind possessed was something they immensely envied.
