Chapter 669: Chapter 669 Refine Demonic Qi

”Elder Chen, I’ve come to you specifically about this matter. You have extensive knowledge in this area. Do you have a solution?” Elder Yang asked, walking up to the two of them. This matter had to be left to the professionals.

”It’s been a long time since I’ve encountered a situation like this,” Elder Chen said thoughtfully. ”All of you, please follow me.”

He seemed to have thought of something and strode forward, with the others following close behind. Soon, they arrived at Elder Chen’s Alchemy Room.

”You two, serve our guests some tea,” Elder Chen instructed his assistants. With that, he disappeared into the innermost part of the room.

Ye Qingchen and the others sat down.

Elder Yang gave him a reassuring look. ”You don’t need to worry about the Corpse Refining Technique. Oh, and a reminder, that Saint Heir seems to have set his sights on you,” Elder Yang sipped his tea, speaking casually.

Ye Qingchen paid him no mind. ”Elder Yang, why are you even concerned about this?”

”Hey, you kid, what’s wrong with me being concerned? Forget it, I won’t meddle in this matter. You’ll have to handle it yourself when the time comes,” Elder Yang chuckled and shook his head.

Ye Qingchen looked over at Xiao Xiao. ”Xiao Xiao, that Saint Heir has his eye on you; you must be very careful.”

He wasn’t about to let some pig root up his precious cabbage.

Xiao Xiao nodded firmly, ”Don’t worry, Young Master! There’s no way I’ll fall for his tricks!”

As they were chatting, Elder Chen emerged from the inner room.

”I’ve found it! I’ve found it!” he exclaimed. ”The solution to the Corpse Refining Technique!”

Elder Chen came out holding a tattered ancient tome, his face beaming with joy. The others couldn’t help but stand up.

Stroking his beard, Elder Chen asked slowly, ”Hmm, young man, how long have you been poisoned?”

”About three days,” Ye Qingchen replied without hesitation. ”I don’t feel any discomfort at all. In fact, I can’t even sense the poison’s presence.”

Elder Chen nodded thoughtfully. ”Good, good. It’s lucky Elder Yang discovered it so quickly. Normally, someone afflicted with the Corpse Refining Technique wouldn’t notice anything wrong for a month. By the time they feel it, it’s already too late. Discovering it after only three days means the Corpse Refining Technique can be completely eradicated!”

Elder Chen’s words put their minds at ease.

”That’s wonderful! Elder Chen, when can our Young Master start the treatment?” Xiao Xiao asked impatiently before he could finish.

Elder Chen walked a few steps with his hands clasped behind his back, his expression unreadable. ”To begin the treatment, not only must you take the Elixir I refine, but you must also cooperate as I circulate internal energy for you.”

”But those aren’t the most important things. The most crucial point is that this Corpse Refining Technique might recur!”

His words left them puzzled.

”Recur? Elder Chen, what do you mean? Didn’t you just say it could be completely cured? How could it relapse?”

Elder Chen turned and walked over to Ye Qingchen. ”If it were a normal person, my treatment would indeed be a complete cure. But you are different. Your body contains a large amount of Demonic Qi, and the energy of the Corpse Refining Technique is concealed within that Demonic Qi. If all the Demonic Qi isn’t expelled after the treatment, there is a high probability of a recurrence.”

”Moreover, if it recurs, it will take over your body at an even faster rate.”

In one breath, Elder Chen had explained all the risks and benefits.

Ye Qingchen furrowed his brows. He hadn’t expected the Demonic Qi he absorbed to cause him such serious harm.

”Elder Chen, please treat the Young Master first! I will find a way to deal with the Demonic Qi!” Xiao Xiao declared, stepping forward resolutely.

Ye Qingchen hurriedly pulled her back. ”Xiao Xiao, this has nothing to do with you. You don’t need to find a solution.”

He feared that Xiao Xiao, with her stubborn streak, would risk her life for him.

But Xiao Xiao shook her head. ”Young Master, I know you are worried about me, but please rest assured! I won’t disappoint you. Besides, you may not know this, but my true fire can help you refine demonic energy!”

Ye Qingchen was slightly stunned. ”Elder Chen, can Xiao Xiao’s Vermilion Bird True Fire really help me refine the demonic energy?”

How could he not know that to expel the Demonic Qi from his body, it had to be absorbed by someone else? He had thought Xiao Xiao was recklessly offering to absorb it and risk her own life. Now it seemed she meant to refine it instead.

Elder Chen was slightly stunned to hear the words ”Vermilion Bird.” Seeing the imploring look in Xiao Xiao’s eyes as she kept her back to Ye Qingchen, he finally nodded. ”This young lady is right.”

What Xiao Xiao said was true; her Vermilion Bird True Fire could indeed help refine demonic energy. But using true fire for refinement would be far too slow. He feared Ye Qingchen would be controlled by the Corpse Refining Technique before she could even refine a tenth of it. However, since the girl was so certain, she must have another way.

Upon hearing Elder Chen’s affirmative response, Ye Qingchen finally let go of his doubts. ”Xiao Xiao, since that’s the case, I’ll have to trouble you with this.”

Xiao Xiao quickly waved her hands. ”Young Master, I belong to you! There’s no need for thanks. This is what I’m supposed to do!”

Ye Qingchen couldn’t help but feel a warmth spread through his heart.

Xiao Xiao is still so adorable.

”Elder Yang, your young disciple’s affliction can’t be cured overnight,” Elder Chen said, nodding at Elder Yang. ”He’ll need to stay at the Wuji Immortal Palace for some time.”

”So it seems there’s nothing left for me to do here! Haha, you two can stay here. I’ll be off now,” Elder Yang said with a laugh. ”Elder Chen, I’m leaving my young disciple in your hands.”

Elder Chen patted Elder Yang on the shoulder. ”Rest assured. There’s nothing in this world I can’t cure.”

After seeing Elder Yang off, Elder Chen waved to a nearby assistant. ”Prepare a room for our two guests. They’ll be staying with us for a while.”

Hearing this, Xiao Xiao quickly shook her head. ”No, no, no! It should be two rooms! How can I stay with the Young Master?”

Elder Chen chuckled. ”Little girl, aren’t you supposed to be helping your Young Master dispel his demonic energy? He needs my treatment here during the day. The only time you can help him is at night!”

Xiao Xiao’s face turned beet red. ”Elder Chen has a point... Young Master, it looks like you’ll have to put up with sharing a room with me.”

「On the other hand.」

「Wuji Immortal Palace, Holy Son’s Palace.」

Wu Chang’s attendant carefully tended to his master’s wounds, fretting all the while. ”My goodness, Saint Heir, how did you get yourself into such a state right on our own doorstep!”

”Hmph! It’s all because of that foreigner!” Wu Chang snapped, slamming his hand on the table. ”He only got the upper hand because I was merciful!”

The attendant didn’t understand what he meant but listened silently to the complaints.

After a moment, the attendant said slowly, ”By the way, I heard that two young guests have arrived at Elder Chen’s place. They’ll be staying here in the Wuji Immortal Palace for some time.”

The attendant relayed all the gossip he had just heard.

Wu Chang’s eyes lit up. ”Two people? Who are they?”
