Invincible Soul Emperor

Chapter 657: Chapter 657: Life in Danger

”What are you doing!” Qin Yue sat up straight, her face filled with alarm as she watched Jiang Qi slowly approach.

Jiang Qi chuckled. ”Stop pretending. You must have guessed what I intend to do. If you cooperate, I’ll be a little gentler.”

As Jiang Qi advanced, Qin Yue retreated noiselessly. She was no match for him. Otherwise, she wouldn’t have been trapped here for so long. Even if she could defeat Jiang Qi, there were still many formidable guards outside.

What should I do? Am I really going to meet my end here tonight? Qin Yue’s face filled with indignation.

”Hehe, Saint Son Jiang, long time no see!”

Suddenly, Ye Qingchen appeared inside the great hall.

Seeing Ye Qingchen appear, Qin Yue’s eyes immediately reddened with emotion. ”Qingchen! You... why are you here? Leave, quickly! You’re no match for him!”

Beyond her excitement, Qin Yue was also terrified. Jiang Qi’s strength was such that even their combined power would be no match for him. She had dreamed of Ye Qingchen coming to rescue her, but she couldn’t bear the thought of him losing his life for it.

In contrast to Qin Yue’s emotional state, Jiang Qi simply laughed heartily and took a seat to one side. ”You two know each other? Interesting, very interesting!”

With a swift movement, Ye Qingchen brought Qin Yue to his side. ”Are you alright? He didn’t do anything to you, did he?”

Ye Qingchen meticulously examined Qin Yue from head to toe. Only after confirming that she was unharmed could he finally breathe a sigh of relief.

Qin Yue shook her head, moved. ”I’m fine, Qingchen. Are you here alone? This place is heavily guarded, you know?”

To say she wasn’t moved would be a lie. Qin Yue had never imagined Ye Qingchen would go to such lengths for her.

”Hey, hey, hey! Don’t you two forget where you are. I’m still here, you know. Are you going to be so brazen?” Jiang Qi said with a smile, as if Ye Qingchen and Qin Yue were old friends.

Ye Qingchen pulled Qin Yue protectively behind him. ”Saint Son Jiang, you’ve imprisoned my fiancée here for so long. I believe you owe us an explanation!”

In that instant, Ye Qingchen’s aura erupted. The very air filled with his oppressive might.

But he was facing Jiang Qi. Jiang Qi was completely unaffected by Ye Qingchen’s domineering aura. ”Ye Qingchen, we’ve crossed blades before. Why are you putting on an act in front of me?”

”Besides, your fiancée? Hahaha, Qin Yue should be by my side, not with a piece of trash like you!” Jiang Qi mocked him relentlessly.

Ye Qingchen narrowed his eyes, and for a moment, the air around him seemed to warp.

”Qingchen, don’t be rash! We’re no match for him!” Qin Yue felt the change in him and grabbed his arm in a panic.

Ye Qingchen patted her hand, giving her a reassuring look. ”Don’t worry, I know what I’m doing.”

Qin Yue was right. If he were to strike now, his chances of winning were slim. He had sensed as much during their last fight. But how could Ye Qingchen give up so easily? If brute force wouldn’t work, he would find another way.

Now that I’ve found Qin Yue, I’m determined to take her with me!

”Saint Son Jiang, I am taking her with me today, and that’s final!” Ye Qingchen declared, vanishing from his spot in an instant.

Jiang Qi scoffed. ”Truly overestimating yourself. I let you off once, but since you’ve come seeking death again, don’t blame This Holy Son for being impolite!”

As Jiang Qi finished speaking, several crimson flames suddenly flared to life around his body. The flames looked terrifying, as if they could devour all creation. In that instant, Ye Qingchen felt as if he were trapped in an endless sea of fire, where the intense heat distorted everything around him.

「Outside the great hall.」

The layers of guards sensed something was wrong and grew vigilant.

”What’s going on? Why did the Saint Heir suddenly unleash his power?” many of them wondered, confused.

”Alright, alright, everyone hold your positions,” their captain ordered, waving a hand. ”We all know how strong our Saint Heir is. He’s probably just annoyed and teaching someone a lesson!”

The guards nervously returned to their posts.

”Captain! It’s bad! The prisoner we just escorted in has vanished!” a voice suddenly cried out.

The captain froze on the spot. ”Damn it, I knew something felt off. That guy must have planned to sneak in!”

The man slapped his thigh, then glanced at the terrifying aura radiating from within the Holy Son’s Palace. ”Forget it. The fool must have ignorantly provoked the Saint Heir. He’ll definitely die without a proper burial. Let’s just wait for this to blow over before we go and ask for forgiveness.”

The captain spoke with casual indifference, as if Jiang Qi killing Ye Qingchen was as simple as crushing an ant.

「Inside the great hall.」

Feeling the temperature continuously rising, Ye Qingchen immediately steadied his mind, knowing he was in an extremely dangerous situation. Jiang Qi’s attack, carrying a wave of intense heat, blasted directly toward him. Ye Qingchen instantly squeezed his eyes shut, mobilizing all the Elemental Power in his body. In the next moment, a faint golden shield materialized over his skin, blocking the immense pressure. Despite this, his body was still sent flying.

Seeing this, Jiang Qi sneered with contempt. ”Qin Yue, come back to my side obediently right now. Otherwise, your fiancé’s life is forfeit.”

Watching Ye Qingchen get knocked away, Qin Yue’s heart clenched in terror. ”Qingchen, are you okay?!”

Ye Qingchen shook his head and got back on his feet. Something is wrong. Jiang Qi is strong, but that last strike shouldn’t have been that powerful. I definitely shouldn’t have been sent flying!

He observed Jiang Qi with his Double Pupils but didn’t notice anything unusual. I don’t know what kind of sinister technique Jiang Qi is using, so I absolutely cannot let my guard down!

BANG!

In that moment, Ye Qingchen’s figure moved again. Countless vines burst from the ground beneath Jiang Qi.

Jiang Qi’s eyes narrowed as a fiery bell materialized, encasing him completely. The aggressive vines met his fiery bell like eggs smashing against a rock and were swiftly repelled.

”Heh, Ye Qingchen, is that all you’ve got? I thought you’d be a worthy opponent, but you’re just trash!”

The vines vanished. Jiang Qi’s face was a mask of scorn, his gaze dripping with disdain for Ye Qingchen. But in the next second, Ye Qingchen appeared behind him, sword in hand.

SLASH!

A bloody gash opened on Jiang Qi’s back. After striking, Ye Qingchen rapidly retreated, putting a safe distance between them.

Jiang Qi hadn’t expected Ye Qingchen to be so cunning. ”Good, very good! You damn beast! You dare ambush This Holy Son! It seems that if I don’t reveal my might, you’ll take me for a sickly cat!”
