I Can Fish Up Everything!

Chapter 328: Chapter 219: The Tycoon Fish with a Gold Brick

Gu Nan was incredibly busy. Fish were biting on all three rods as soon as the hooks hit the water. His efficiency was so high he didn’t have a moment’s rest.

However, he did notice one problem: if he didn’t regularly use chum to keep the fish around, the school of Emperor Salmon would leave, and his catch rate would drop significantly.

So, he had to toss in some fish guts every half hour.

Luckily, he had more than enough fish guts. There was enough to last until dawn, and even enough for a full day of regular fishing.

Just as he was reeling in a fish, the Bering Sea Golden Fishing Rod suddenly made a GROANING sound, catching Gu Nan’s attention.

He quickly sent the fish in his hand to the aquarium, then went over and pressed the button to reel in the line.

’What a surprise. I thought they were all Emperor Salmon, but a big one suddenly showed up.’

Judging by how much the rod was bending, the fish was clearly huge. If not over a hundred pounds, it was at least seventy or eighty.

The electric reel couldn’t pull the line in at all; in fact, it was being dragged out little by little.

Just as Gu Nan was about to lend a hand, the Seven-Star Fishing Rod next to it suddenly started shaking—another fish was on the line.

With no other choice, he moved to the other rod to reel that line in first.

The electric reel was handling the fish automatically, so as long as the line didn’t break, he wasn’t worried about it getting away.

A big fish, likely under a hundred pounds, was no match for the line Gu Nan had specially bought from the game’s shop for over a thousand Gold Coins. It wouldn’t break.

The line came with a leader of the same grade. While landing a thousand-pound monster might be a challenge, a hundred-pound fish was a piece of cake.

Half an hour later, a brilliant golden light suddenly flashed on the surface of the sea, followed by a massive, silvery-white body.

Gu Nan’s jaw dropped. ’Wait, what am I seeing? A giant Emperor Salmon with a huge gold bar stuck in its throat?’

’What kind of divine pairing is this?’

’No, wait. Why would an Emperor Salmon have a gold bar stuck in its throat?’

Gu Nan’s mind was reeling, but his hands moved with lightning speed. He quickly used the crane to hoist the fish aboard. Before lifting it completely, he carefully scooped up the fish’s head with a landing net to prevent the gold bar from accidentally falling out. If that happened, he’d be devastated.

He finally breathed a sigh of relief once the fish was safely onboard.

But it looked like the gold bar was wedged in there tight. Even as the fish hung in mid-air, struggling violently, the bar didn’t budge.

*(Author’s Note: I saw a picture of this online. When I saw that brick, I just had to save the image.)*

Gu Nan picked up a fish spike and swiftly dispatched the fish.

Once the fish stopped struggling completely, he reached into its mouth and forcefully wrenched the gold bar out.

It was wedged in extremely tight. However, judging by the condition of the fish’s throat, the gold bar couldn’t have been stuck there for long.

If it had been there for a long time, the fish would never have survived. ’I just don’t know why it still went for the hook.’

But he put the thought aside and used fresh water to clean the grime off the surface of the gold bar.

’This gold bar is huge!’ It felt weighty in his hand.

After cleaning it, he discovered an engraving on its surface: ”5 kg.”

Gu Nan’s heart pounded in his chest. Based on the current price of gold, selling it without official documentation meant he could get around 350 to 380 yuan per gram. How much he’d actually get would depend entirely on his own skills.

It would also depend on the bar’s purity. If it was pure 24-karat gold, it would be incredibly valuable. This single bar could sell for at least 1.7 million yuan.

That would wipe out more than a third of his fishing boat debt. If he could just land two or three more bluefin tuna after this, he could pay off everything.

Then, Gu Nan could start thinking about buying a house in the city. He could also take care of his parents’ housing situation; he couldn’t let them keep renting forever.

Thinking about all this, he realized he still had a huge financial gap to close, and the initial joy of finding the gold bar faded slightly.

Still, he was incredibly excited. He had never even touched a piece of gold this large in his entire life.

’I never expected fish from a game map to come with such a surprise.’ For the first time, Gu Nan felt the new game mode was a fantastic update.

Although there were no more guaranteed catches, and he couldn’t target specific valuable seafood like in the first two maps, this one had gold bars!

He happily stored the gold bar away. Gu Nan had no intention of keeping it for himself.

Gold’s value was stable, sure, but in times of peace and prosperity, what was the point of hoarding it? The priority was to use the money where it was needed most.

After stashing the gold and reeling in the other fish, Gu Nan went back to fishing.

At the same time, a sliver of hope lingered in his heart. ’I don’t dare to hope for another gold bar, but would a flashy fish with a thick gold chain be too much to ask for?’

Two hours passed. By the time the sky began to brighten at dawn, he had sixty-three Emperor Salmon in his refrigerated hold.

He still had fifty-two ”guaranteed catch” attempts left for the day, which he clearly wouldn’t be able to use up for now.

Gu Nan sighed. ’The flashy fish never showed up!’

Besides, he was running out of time. He still needed to find an opportunity to fish for Dogtooth Fish at night, among other things.

He had thirty-three daily attempts left at Seven-Star Rock, and with the thirty that refreshed today, he’d have sixty-three in total. As long as he had enough ”stickers,” catching two Legendary Dogtooth Fish shouldn’t be a problem.

Unfortunately, without the cover of darkness, Gu Nan had no choice but to head back and rest. He would go out to sea again at night.

After returning to shore, he first dropped off the twenty-odd local fish he had caught at his parents’ old shop. Then, he sent a message to Yi Chen, letting him know that he had been fishing all night and would be sleeping during the day, and also quoted the prices for the Emperor Salmon and Emperor Crabs.

He had already arranged shipment for them, including the Greenland Halibut. The halibut didn’t fetch a high price, so he just sent it to his parents’ shop.

He had already told them the prices and left it to his parents to decide whether to sell the fish whole or cut them into fillets.

Back home, he put the gold bar in a drawer, took a shower, and collapsed into bed. He planned to figure out what to do with the gold bar in the afternoon.
