I Can Fish Up Everything!

Chapter 317: Chapter 211: A Successful First Livestream

Ten Super Rockets instantly attracted a lot of viewers who came to grab the treasure chests. Many of them didn’t even look at the stream’s name. As soon as they entered, they were greeted by the sight of a pomfret the size of a small door panel, and they couldn’t have been more surprised.

’Livestreaming is so wild these days. You can get this many Rockets just for streaming a fish?’

After watching for a little while, they finally understood what they’d stumbled upon.

The percentage of people who participate in the sport of fishing isn’t actually that high. In modern society, you’re lucky if you’re not getting squeezed dry from morning till night. Who wouldn’t want to just collapse on the couch after work?

But the popularity of beachcombing and fishing videos proved that many people were interested. This new wave of traffic instantly pushed the viewer count past ten thousand.

With more people, the bullet comments became a mixed bag. People said all sorts of things, and some even accused them of faking it by just hanging fish on the line.

Yi Chen had been making short videos for a while. Her focus later shifted to the shop, but she would still share something occasionally, so her follower count had been slowly increasing, leading to all sorts of private messages in her inbox.

Among them was a small portion of negative comments. At first, she would get angry and argue back, but she eventually got used to it and didn’t take it to heart.

Seeing that the stream chat was getting a bit chaotic, she immediately found a few of her old fans and gave them moderator permissions to help maintain order.

Half an hour later, Wang Junhe and Guo Xiao were tired from fishing. They were also very satisfied with their haul for the night, so they decided to take a break.

So they joined the livestream to liven things up, and each secretly gifted a Super Rocket.

Yi Chen happily thanked them. ’Livestreaming seems to be a pretty fast way to make money. Although my cut is lower since I’m not signed with an agency, I’ve still made tens of thousands tonight.’

But by now, she was a bit tired of streaming, so she brought out a tripod, planning to set it up so she could fish too.

Seeing this, Wang Junhe quickly said, ”Yi Chen, why don’t you fish for a while? I can film for you.”

”Sure!” Yi Chen readily agreed, handing him her setup. She then went ahead and borrowed his fishing rod to start fishing.

Because Gu Nan occasionally scattered a little bait, the school of silver pomfret was still around.

Even if it was just a small school, it wasn’t something three people could fish out in half an hour.

Every fish was money, and Yi Chen was not one to complain about having too much of it.

Gu Nan had given her the profits from the new shop, but she still wanted to save up her own little private stash of cash. She was currently learning to drive and wanted to buy herself a little car. She could also buy gifts for her grandmother and two younger sisters.

However, this time she wasn’t using an electric reel, and for the first time, Yi Chen realized just how tiring fishing could be.

It was fine at first; she was fishing with great enthusiasm.

But saltwater fish are incredibly strong. If it weren’t for modern equipment and reels with drag systems, you’d be in trouble.

Back in the day, you had to keep the line a bit loose when sea fishing, otherwise the immense force of a bite would easily let the fish break free.

Every fish Yi Chen reeled to the surface was still struggling violently. She had to use a lot of strength just to lift the fish, and before long, her hands were aching terribly. And that was with Guo Xiao helping to net the fish.

Gu Nan saw his girlfriend furrowing her brow and periodically rotating her wrists, and his heart ached for her. ”Chenchen, we can just get out the electric reel. It’s not tiring to fish with that.”

”Forget it, we’re live. Using an electric reel will definitely stir up some drama!” Yi Chen shook her head, refusing.

Using one for deep-sea fishing is one thing, but using it when the fish are right at the surface would definitely stir up trouble.

”Then take a break. The school of fish won’t leave that quickly.”

”Sigh, when I think about how these fish can be turned into money as soon as we get them to the shop, I can’t bear to rest!”

The three grown men on the boat were all amused by the sight of Yi Chen acting like a little money-grubber.

The livestream chat was the same, with everyone exclaiming, ”Holy cow, so this is the kind of Boss Lady you are.”

An hour and a half later, the chum Gu Nan kept tossing out could no longer hold the school of fish. Apparently, the silver pomfrets were all full and had left the area.

They could eat their fill just by offering up a few sacrifices. They’d love for this kind of good fortune to happen a few more times.

Of course, Gu Nan’s chum couldn’t possibly have fed the whole school. The main thing was that the fishy smell of the chum attracted lots of small fish, shrimp, and plankton. It was these that had actually filled the silver pomfrets’ bellies.

”Whew, the school’s scattered. Let’s call it a night!” Gu Nan let out a breath of relief.

He was the only one who had been fishing all night without a moment’s rest, and now he could clearly feel the ache in his hands.

”Haha, it’s been a long time since I’ve had such a satisfying fishing session. This haul of silver pomfret will last a long time. Not bad, not bad at all.” Guo Xiao was also tired and leaned against the gunwale. He and Wang Junhe had only rested for a short while and had kept at it, catching quite a few silver pomfret themselves.

Yi Chen had fished for a much shorter time, mainly because she also had to manage the stream. She didn’t want to keep troubling others.

[I’m dying of jealousy! Not only did you run into a school, but it was silver pomfret!]

[Hehe, I’m not jealous at all. I’m just gonna go to sleep now!]

[Pfft, the guy above is a genius. He knows he can get non-stop bites in his dreams.]

[Boss Lady, I joined the group! When do you start selling the fish?]

[Excuse me, Boss, do you take people out to sea? I want to go out with you too. The charter fee is negotiable.]

Quite a few viewers had been watching since the stream started and had roughly calculated Gu Nan’s haul for the night.

With the fish at the surface, he was catching them very quickly, almost one a minute. In the little over two hours since he’d started fishing for silver pomfret, he alone had caught more than 120 of them.

On average, they were around two pounds each. There weren’t many three or four-pounders, but there were an estimated twenty or thirty of them. The hooks were too big for fish under a pound to swallow, so there weren’t any that small.

Oh, right, there was also an especially large one that had already been reserved.

Later, for the sake of the stream, Yi Chen even weighed it. It was 11.2 pounds, just over eleven pounds—a true fish king.

Seeing the last few bullet comments, Yi Chen quickly stated that they don’t take passengers. Then she explained that she would sell fish in the group chat every day from one to four in the afternoon and would take orders then.

After that, she chatted for a bit longer before ending the stream.

”Ah Nan, Brother Wang, Brother Guo, are you guys hungry? I can make you a late-night snack?” Yi Chen asked.

After all that physical labor, what little they ate for dinner had long since been digested.

Wang Junhe and Guo Xiao quickly nodded. They were definitely hungry, but they were too embarrassed to ask her to make them a late-night snack. They had been planning to just find something simple to eat, so they hadn’t expected Yi Chen to offer.

Gu Nan was hungry too. He picked up two silver pomfrets and a two-pound red grouper and said, ”Let’s make some seafood noodles!”

Yi Chen nodded. After taking the fish, she also went to scoop up some of the live shrimp they were using as bait before heading into the kitchen.

Gu Nan, meanwhile, put away all the streaming equipment in the living room. He then sat on the sofa and looked at the stream’s data for the night. He found that the number of viewers had been unexpectedly good, and there had even been over 121,300 yuan in donations.

’Looks like streaming once in a while isn’t a bad idea. At the very least, the fish-selling group chat now has over two hundred members.’

After eating the late-night snack, they rested for a while. Once they were no longer so stuffed, they all went back to their rooms to sleep, ready to continue in the morning.

That night, the boat rocked on the surface of the sea, and the bed rocked as well.

...

The next day, the sky was clear and vast. Although they were far out at sea, the weather was good, and the wind and waves were calm.

Gu Nan slowly opened his eyes, and the first thing he felt was the smooth, soft body in his arms. Yi Chen was sleeping soundly, her little face showing a look of satisfaction and a hint of exhaustion.

He didn’t disturb his girlfriend’s rest. He got out of bed quietly, got dressed, and, taking his toothbrush and cup, went to an empty room to wash up.

While brushing his teeth, he went out onto the deck. As far as the eye could see, the sea and sky blended into one, stretching to an endless horizon.

They had arrived in this area last night, so they hadn’t been able to see the surrounding scenery.

Looking at it in the daytime, he realized there were no shallow reefs or isolated islands anywhere around. Without someone to guide you, this fishing spot would indeed be hard to find.

Wang Junhe and Guo Xiao weren’t up yet either. Gu Nan himself didn’t feel hungry, so he decided to check the fish finder for activity and start fishing.

Although the fishing boat had moved last night, the situation underwater hadn’t changed much. It looked like there were plenty of fish.

Seeing this, Gu Nan went out and scattered the chum he had intentionally left on the deck last night. It now gave off a foul, fishy stench. He was chumming the water to start things off.

Last night’s hunt for silver pomfret had used up most of the chum he had expected to last the whole day. It would take some time for the new chum to attract fish, so Gu Nan simply brought out two boxes of sardines from the refrigerated hold, picked up a filleting knife, and started chopping. CHOP CHOP CHOP.

The sardines were still frozen solid, and in no time, bits of ice and fish were flying everywhere.

Gu Nan was extremely fast. In about half an hour, he had chopped up enough to fill two baskets. Estimating that it would be enough for the day, he stood up, dusted himself off, and mounted the holders for the two electric reels on the gunwale. Then, he took out his own Bering Sea rod and made a test cast to see what the fish activity was like.

Perhaps the smell of the chum was strong enough, as it only took half an hour to attract all the fish living in the small nearby area.

Just then, an injured live shrimp dropped into the water, immediately causing several fish to fight over it.

But sometimes, even dumb fish have dumb luck. Just like that, the live shrimp inexplicably escaped from the swarm of fish and drifted to the bottom, where it was swallowed in one gulp by a fish that was just staring blankly.

Gu Nan immediately felt the signal through his fishing rod. He looked down. ’A fish took the hook this quickly?’

He quickly jerked the rod to set the hook and immediately felt a pull that wasn’t very strong.

Having caught many fish, he could basically judge a fish’s size from the force of its pull. He knew this one wasn’t big, probably only one or two pounds.

Since it was so small, Gu Nan quickly cranked the handle, and the nearly forty meters of fishing line were reeled in in just a moment. A brown fish broke the surface of the water, hanging in mid-air and barely struggling.

”Holy shit, a tigerfish?”

The fish looked a bit like a scorpionfish, but it was a little fatter, and its pectoral fins were larger.

Tigerfish are more venomous than scorpionfish. Getting stung by one is no joke.

Getting stung by a scorpionfish hurts enough to make you cry for your mom. Getting stung by a tigerfish, you’ll be crying for your mom and dad both.

Gu Nan carefully unhooked the fish, being especially wary of its dorsal fin.

With this type of venomous fish, the dorsal fin is what you need to watch out for. You don’t have to worry about the other parts.

Gu Nan was quite happy. Tigerfish currently fetched a high price, selling for 350 yuan a pound at Yangjiang Port.

It was mainly a matter of geography; wild tigerfish were extremely rare around Yangjiang Port.

Gu Nan’s catch was a relatively large one. He checked it with his fish gripper; it was 2.3 pounds.
