His Beloved Treasure

Chapter 1565: Chapter 438: Mrs. Mu Is Still a Bit Too Naive (Part 3)

He suddenly felt a bit of regret. Why did he let her work at the hospital?

She used to often slack off and didn’t take work too seriously, and he found that quite nice. But now, she is getting more and more focused, almost as if it’s a responsibility bestowed upon her by the heavens.

”I’m hungry!”

She was crying to the point of fainting, but the burning in her stomach reminded her that she hadn’t eaten properly all day. After regaining her rationality, she spoke to him in a low voice.

”I’ve already prepared dinner! Do you still have the strength?”

He asked in a low voice, looking down at the woman with swollen eyes from crying.

”You’re going out, but you still have time to prepare dinner for me?”

Although her voice was weak, she truly didn’t understand his actions.

He wanted to be a good husband, but he hadn’t decisively dealt with the woman outside.

”I’m not going out! I’ll stay and have dinner with you, is that okay?”

Having realized that his explanations weren’t being believed, Jing Feng finally gave up explaining and just said this.

Helian Hao looked up at him, and when she tried to stand up, she almost fell again, reflexively grabbing his arm. Once she stood up, she looked into his eyes, finding him so close.

Suddenly, Jing Feng felt a deep heartache, his sigh laced with a slight tremor.

He led her to the dining room; as she sat down, she looked at the meal he’d prepared long ago, and her eyes heated up again, her vision blurring once more.

”Sit down!”

Jing Feng told her to sit, and then he stood beside her, opening the lid that had been covered, revealing steaming hot soup inside.

”Drink the soup first; I’ll go heat up the dishes!”

Helian Hao lowered her head and drank the soup he served her, too exhausted to say a word. All she wanted now was a proper meal.

Jing Feng had never seen her look so pitiful, as if she was about to be worn out completely.

Jing Feng’s jacket was draped over a chair. After going to cook, his phone rang in his pocket. Helian Hao unintentionally looked up; since it was an open kitchen, he would surely hear it. So she pretended not to have heard and continued drinking her soup.

After heating the dishes, Jing Feng took out his phone from his pocket, took a look, and placed it aside, not calling back.

Helian Hao kept her head down, eating without looking at him again. She now had a bit of strength, but she wanted to conserve it. She had to stay alert tonight as her colleague said they would call her if anything came up.

She knew that the mother who woke up and found her child gone would be in great pain, wishing she were dead too. However, she still hoped that the mother would wake up.

After dinner, Helian Hao sent a message to Qin Mu, then lay down on the bed like a corpse without even taking a shower.

Jing Feng stood at the door, watching for a while. She hadn’t asked him another word. It was only eight o’clock when she lay down, presumably exhausted... seeing that...

Jing Feng unbuttoned his shirt and walked towards the bed.

Helian Hao pressed her arm to her brow, listening to the movements. She lifted her eyes and saw him lying beside her: ”You’re not going out?”

Jing Feng smiled softly but did not speak.

Helian Hao didn’t know if he still planned to go out; she was just too exhausted, so she continued to press her arm against her eyes and tried to sleep.

”Headache?”

Jing Feng turned to look at her, noticing how uncomfortable she seemed, and asked.

”My forehead aches more!”

She replied in a low voice, complaining but expecting nothing from him.

He sat up, then held her shoulder to let her rest her head on his lap.

Helian Hao didn’t want to move her hand because his considerate gesture made her want to cry. Her eyes were already wet, and she didn’t want him to see her like this.

”Let me massage it for you!”

He said.

”No need!”

Helian Hao refused, feeling her lips burning as she struggled to move away from his lap.

”Not seizing such a good opportunity? Do you really want me to attend some colleague gathering?”

Helian Hao stayed silent, burying her face in her arms, turning to her side without making a sound.

Jing Feng lay down again, embracing her from behind: ”How did you get so silly? Our son is already so big, yet you’re still being foolish?”

When Helian Hao heard about their son, she couldn’t help but let out a bitter laugh, wiping her tears with her sleeve and hoarsely telling him: ”That little guy said he wanted us to take him to the zoo this weekend.”

”Are you free this weekend?”

Jing Feng asked softly, his hand still holding her, not letting go.

”As long as you are!”

She had already cleared her schedule for the weekend, fearing that Jing Jian would be too busy and unavailable.

”Of course, I’m available!”

Jing Feng told her, his hand habitually slipping inside her clothes.
