His Beloved Treasure

Chapter 1531: Chapter 429: Stubborn Appearance (Part 4)

Qin Mu’s heart couldn’t help but tremble repeatedly.

The lunch was quite good, but it felt like a culinary battle between two men.

Jian Yan’s cooking was a bit lighter in flavor, this time Mu Yichen also made the dishes very light, but compared to Jian Yan’s, it was still a bit stronger.

”Looks like Qin Mu’s taste has changed.”

Jian Yan looked at the dishes on the table and suddenly commented.

Qin Mu had just picked up her chopsticks, and after hearing this, glanced at the dishes on the table: ”It’s alright!”

”Let’s eat! I’ll also try Mr. Mu’s cooking.”

Jian Yan said no more.

This meal wasn’t awkward, but everyone had their own thoughts, so food didn’t seem to have much taste.

”Are you spending tonight alone?”

”I never liked celebrating holidays, you know that. Don’t worry about me, just make sure the kids have fun.”

After the meal and a bit of conversation, when the family was saying goodbye, Qin Mu turned at the door to look at him and asked:

”But...”

Qin Mu was still a bit reluctant.

”I’ll take them to the car first!”

Mu Yichen suddenly said, then led their son and daughter to the car.

”Goodbye, JY!”

Huanhuan didn’t forget to turn back and wave to him as she left.

Jian Yan smiled and said goodbye to Huanhuan as well.

Only then did Qin Mu say, ”We could spend it together!”

”You think your husband has become so generous? Qin Mu, you think ’once a teacher, always a father’? Even if you’re willing, I’m not happy being your father.”

Jian Yan spoke to her, his words light but carrying a hint of irony.

In the beginning, she had thought that being so young, they should be both teacher and friend.

He taught her so much, Qin Mu wanted to repay him, but found there was no way to do so.

Now, being a wife, Qin Mu had to turn her head.

”Take good care of yourself!”

That was the last thing they said to each other in Paris.

Jian Yan watched as Qin Mu got into the car and didn’t step down, standing on the steps, hands in pockets, as he watched their car drive away.

Qin Mu’s eyes brimmed with heaviness, everything in front of her blurry.

The car suddenly fell silent, the little ones didn’t seem to like talking much either, and Mu Yichen focused solely on driving.

Outside, at the apartment entrance, Jian Yan still stood there, his expression worsening by the minute.

He just smoked a cigarette, and his stomach seemed to protest.

The wind quietly blew through his hair as he thought about opening the door to go back in, but instead he just leaned back, resting his head against the door.

In the afternoon, as the kids played outside, Qin Mu carried two glasses of water to the sofa where Mu Yichen was, handed him one, and then sat down beside him: ”Do you remember when you told me about having Xiao Wei and Jian Yan have a child?”

”Yes!”

”You didn’t make arrangements?”

Qin Mu curiously asked him.

Mu Yichen glanced at her, holding back a laugh: ”If your teacher knew you were plotting against him like this, he’d probably die of heartbreak.”

”Ugh! How can you joke at a time like this? He’s not happy at all, he needs some motivation!”

Qin Mu couldn’t help but chide him a bit, then explained again.

After this meeting, she felt that Jian Yan himself, and everything around him, seemed lifeless.

She knew that Jian Yan was naturally a bland person, but she didn’t want to see his future remain that way.

Maybe a child really could change his life for the better.

Just like when Mr. Mu found out he had a daughter, didn’t he also change completely?

”I arranged it! But Xiao Wei just isn’t here at the moment.”

Mu Yichen said to her with a deep and inscrutable look.

Listening to his calm words made Qin Mu anxious inside.

”What does that mean? Is Xiao Wei pregnant or not? Why isn’t she by Jian Yan’s side?”

Qin Mu urgently asked him.

Mu Yichen lowered his eyes to look at her, then leaned forward to put the glass on the coffee table, raising his hand to gently embrace her shoulders, pulling her into his arms.

”Maybe she has her reasons? Why don’t we just wait and see?”

Mu Yichen spoke softly to her.

”Wait and see?”

Qin Mu leaned on his shoulder, contemplating those four words.

This time when she saw Jian Yan, she noticed he had lost so much weight, it broke her heart, leaving no room for calm patience.

”True! Your teacher may not be entirely over her, he just hasn’t completely let you go yet.”

Mu Yichen said this too calmly, giving Qin Mu a sense of disorientation, leading her to look up at him in disbelief.

Mu Yichen looked at her: ”Trust me, he will move on!”

Qin Mu, however, gave a bitter smile: ”Of course I want him to move on quickly, but just look at him now, sickly, all alone!”

Thinking of the time when Xiao Wei called her, Qin Mu thought Xiao Wei would be constantly by Jian Yan’s side, but now she doubted if Xiao Wei would ever return to Jian Yan.

”Maybe by the time they see each other again, Jian Yan will already be a father!”

Mu Yichen thought about it, and then said to her again.

Qin Mu...

”What if that’s just your wishful thinking?”

Qin Mu looked up at him and asked, now doubting if Mr. Mu was simply trying to comfort her.

”What your husband imagines, usually comes true.”

”You said usually!”

The two looked into each other’s eyes, someone being too stubborn!
