His Beloved Treasure

Chapter 1507: Chapter 423: Confidence (Part 3)

Qin Mu looked at her, clearly, steadily, sharply, explaining to her, also reminding her.

Xiaomei just listened quietly, always feeling like she was slowly ascending, being lifted higher and higher, so high that if she wasn’t careful she’d fall flat on her face.

”Is what you’re saying true? No one can replace my position because I’m excellent?”

Xiaomei asked her cautiously, her eyes wide open.

”Didn’t you just say I don’t care about you? Or do you think I would keep an incapable little sister around just for the sake of friendship?”

Xiaomei listened to these words and thought about it carefully. With Qin Mu’s sharp personality, she indeed wouldn’t keep useless people around.

Suddenly, Xiaomei straightened her back, her shoulders squared: ”I don’t know why, suddenly I feel like Zhao Huai is a bit out of my league! I’m so excellent, right?”

Xiaomei glanced slyly at Qin Mu.

Qin Mu laughed: ”You! Are you going to eat or not?”

”Eat, eat, eat, of course, I’ll eat!”

Xiaomei immediately bent over again, like an innocent child, eating heartily!

Before, when they had just met, Xiaomei acted very quiet, but as they got to know each other better, this girl became a bit unruly, occasionally cracking dirty jokes, occasionally pulling little stunts.

”Qinqin! Where am I sleeping tonight?”

When Xiaomei had eaten to the point her stomach could hardly take any more, she quietly asked Qin Mu.

Qin Mu...

”If Zhao Huai doesn’t come to the studio to find me, wouldn’t I be embarrassed going back by myself?”

Xiaomei explained quietly when she saw Qin Mu’s helpless expression.

”Isn’t your phone still in the apartment? You have to go get your phone, right?”

Qin Mu lowered her gaze, thought for a moment, and reminded her.

”You’re right! Hehe! You just said I was dumb, but I’m so smart, I left my stuff at home.”

”Other people intentionally leave their stuff at home and call it smart, you are...”

Qin Mu didn’t expose her, but Xiaomei was already eating slowly, her face flushed.

In the morning, Xiaomei really went to play at the amusement park, while Qin Mu just stood by watching. Xiaomei called her several times but was refused.

Watching Xiaomei play, Qin Mu suddenly felt like she really had a sister, and she remembered Qin Mingzhu, that girl who had once complained over the phone about Qin Mu not visiting.

Later, after sending Xiaomei off, she went upstairs and focused on editing photos.

As Xiaomei drove back, she thought about acting nonchalant in the evening when she returned, just ignore Zhao Huai and let him apologize first.

But when she drove to the studio, she saw a familiar figure at the entrance.

It was the very man she had just been thinking about on the road.

Zhao Huai had leaned against the doorway smoking half a pack of cigarettes, and when Xiaomei finally returned, he involuntarily frowned. The sun was shining brightly as he watched the girl step out of the car, before lowering his gaze to continue his cigarette.

Xiaomei glanced at him as she walked past, but didn’t acknowledge him, wanting to walk past him.

Zhao Huai grabbed her wrist first, not even looking at her, and directly dragged her away from the doorway.

There were too many people inside to talk, so Zhao Huai led her under the shade by the lake, holding a cigarette, looking at her somewhat sternly: ”Why are you coming back so late?”

”I went to give Qinqin something, why?”

Xiaomei finally looked at him again, still stubborn.

”Why did you leave so early this morning? Didn’t want to face me?”

Zhao Huai asked her.

”Why are you talking to me so harshly? I didn’t offend you!”

Xiaomei saw his cold expression, her initial grievance growing even more, pouting as she questioned him.

”I’m harsh? Ha! I don’t have much courage for a temper right now, I just want to confirm something with you.”

”What?”

Xiaomei asked him, her head still held up defiant.

”Are you avoiding me?”

”No!”

”Then why did you leave your phone at home, don’t deny that you fled because you were afraid I’d see you when I woke up.”

Zhao Huai directly blocked any denial, not giving her the chance to disagree.

Xiaomei childishly bit her lower lip hard and snorted arrogantly: ”I just didn’t want to see you, so what? Did you bring my phone?”

Xiaomei felt like not having her phone all morning was like having her wings clipped, nearly driving her mad. She really wanted to check QQ, really wanted to see her moments!

”No!”

Zhao Huai denied after looking at her for a few seconds.

Xiaomei...

Zhao Huai looked at her like that: ”Tonight, go back yourself and find it, by the way, tonight I want to eat bamboo shoots.”

”Go to a restaurant! Why tell me to cook?”

Xiaomei haughtily glanced at him, then turned to leave.

Zhao Huai grabbed her again: ”My fair lady, enough is enough! I was wrong! I really was wrong! Okay?”

Zhao Huai lowered his pride, genuinely unwilling to keep this going, they really shouldn’t be like this.

Hearing his apology, Xiaomei slowly turned her head to look at him: ”Are you serious?”

”I swear! I’ll never ask such a dumb question again in my life!”

Zhao Huai looked at her with those serious eyes, as if his gaze alone was making a vow.

For some reason, Xiaomei suddenly remembered Qin Mu’s words: ”Zhao Huai, are we equals?”

”Of course!”

Zhao Huai immediately agreed.

”Then, is your apartment mine?”

”Shall we go change the name now? But we will be moving to a bigger house soon, actually, I plan to put that big house in your name.”

Zhao Huai explained further.

”Oh? Then forget it, I’d rather have the bigger one!”

Upon hearing this, Xiaomei perked up and immediately rejected having the smaller house in her name.

Zhao Huai stared at her, unsure if she was no longer angry.

And Xiaomei suddenly giggled: ”Hey, I like you, not because of your house!”

Zhao Huai helplessly chuckled: ”My silly girl, are you really not angry with me anymore?”

His sudden affectionate call made Xiaomei a little nervous, shyly lowering her head, then nodding.

Zhao Huai sighed softly, finally relieved, then hugged her: ”I’m really foolish! How could I say such things to a silly girl like you? It won’t happen again!”

Xiaomei’s heart was about to jump out, burying her face in his chest, not daring to move, biting her lip hard, not daring to take a big breath.

Such a sincere apology?

Listening to him, Xiaomei felt as if he really regretted it, yes, the kind of regret that’s deep enough to regret their decisions.

”Will you pick me up from work tonight, or should I go back on my own?”

Zhao Huai looked down at the girl in his arms who hadn’t spoken.

”Hmm! I’ll go back on my own, I have to go back around noon, my phone isn’t there, nor is my wallet, I feel like a little sparrow with its wings clipped.”

”Your phone and wallet are more important than I am!”

Zhao Huai sighed lightly, complaining to her in a tone as if talking to a child.

Xiaomei giggled sheepishly, unable to help but shyly lower her head again.

”I brought your phone for you, without a phone, the person who worries is not you, but me! I would go mad not being able to find you!”

Zhao Huai said softly to her, pulling out the phone from his pocket, handing it to her along with his wallet, putting it into her hand.

”Huh!? Why are you... giving me your wallet?”

Xiaomei’s eyes almost popped out as she looked at the mobile phone and wallet that had suddenly appeared in her hands. She realized he was here to deliver the phone, but the wallet...
